When I toured Fredericksburg, there is one place where there is a dip in the road and the guide told us about how Lee's troops were behind the fence and trapped the union troops behind that small dip as they tried to get out of the withering confederate fire. Obviously it has changed a lot since then so the AI goggles would have been perfect to remove the houses and other structures built since then so that the viewer has a better idea of the battlefield that day. I still need to tour Wilderness and Chancellorsville which are not far from me.Greetings Good Sir. An interesting take.. 21st Century tech, on a 19th Century Battlefield…. That’s one of the reasons I try to go to theses sites now.. to be there on the actual day it happened. The weather, vegetation etc. Can really help me “ time travel “. You must have a good dozen sites within an hour’s drive of you. Hope you find the time to take advantage & visit one. Slainte![]()
That, right there, is a contradiction in terms. Do tell!!!... I was done in Raleigh, NC over the weekend but nothing interesting to report.
Unfortunately that was a spelling error. lol Nothing was done except a lot of driving. That, right there, is a contradiction in terms. Do tell!!!
How you doing Gazer? Long time.
Not sure if I will make it to any of them this year but all three are on my list once I retire. Hope you are doing well Fire.Yes my Friend, AI goggles would come in handy around Fredericksburg. It is definitely a “ built up area”.
I don’t think you will encounter those issues at Chancellorsville, The Wilderness, or Spotsylvania Court House. That whole area ( at least around the battlefields) is still very much like it was back in 1863 & 64. I was at all 3 of them in the past 3 years. When one gets out & walks a couple 100 yards into one of the stops on the map it’s very easy to imagine the chaos all about. Hope you manage to make at least one of them before the year is out. October wound be a good month to go. I wish you well. Slainte![]()

It was an interesting couple of days and you are correct about imagining the chaos back in the days.Yes my Friend, AI goggles would come in handy around Fredericksburg.
