Voting problems at Lit, and maybe it's Lit itself/help???

I hate to be the forum bitch, but, who cares [in the nicest possible way]?

I care. I don't lower my standards of integrity because Lit is "merely" a free porn site.

If the system is broken -- either fix it or abandon it. Failure to do one or the other speaks of apathy and a hearty disrespect for the authors & poets who make Literotica what it is.

I don't understand this comment - do you mean just because it is free, anon people shouldn't be allowed to vote?

And is it the general belief that Lit is not doing everything within their power to eliminate trolls, and that they can do more? [it's late here, not alchol! :D]

No, I mean that I am consistent in my expectations of fairness. The fact that a ratings system exists -- even on a free porn site -- makes me expect it to be operated in the most efficient & effective means feasible. I'd expect the same of a site for which I paid.

It is MY belief that more could be done -- changes could be implemented that would (a) improve the integrity of the ratings system; AND (b) save L&M a TON of time currently spent on troll sweeps.

I guess the reason I don't care so much [anymore] is that no matter what system of voting is in place, there will always be corruption or some way to get around the system. There will never be complete fairness. Cynical, yes :D

The only voting system I could see that is more fair than others [and I'm open to change this view] is one button to click to say "yes, I liked this story" and whoever has the most votes, wins. This would not work for lit, as cats differ in readings and readers voting habits.

I haven't been to any paid sites, but what do they do to be more effective [besides not allowing anon people to vote]? I know there are some programs you can use to eliminate double votes from same ip addresses etc, but lit uses them too.

But change is good, and I love the suggestion that authors should have the choice of only allowing members to vote. I don't think I would use it, but I would still like to see it implemented.

Who cares? Obviously you did at one time, eh? If you did, then go back and wonder at the feeling, the thoughts, the struggles within yourself trying to wonder why this happened. After you do that, then read the few names herein, and you have a small answer not only about who cares, but possibly about why.

Karma? Wonderful idea, and it may well be true, as many ideas may be, but then again, maybe it's all ephemeral.

What's important here, since there is really no salient question being asked that really pertains to this thread, is that like some others, you've expressed your thoughts. For that, I truly thank you. I detect absolutely no hatefulllness, no nastiness, and that is very good, and thank you even more for that. Then again, the little I know of you, it is as I would expect -- a nice person with a thought that wouldn't hold.

Which leaves us at this point, some here will try to see if it can be changed, and I thank them for that.

:rose:

You are a prize Missy, in last place. She says what she want and feels. I asked a salient question the other day. WHO THE FUCK GIVES A FUCK? If you do? Than a mirror is necessary. ;) And dont give me your BS!

Hi sweetie. Good to see you're back. Gloves on or off? Uh, why wear gloves?
 :D

Okay, no BS, but I'm a prize? You gotta be kidding, right? You asked a salient question the other day. Wonderful! Glad to hear it. Uh, who gives a fuck about what? Is this one of the famous Charlieisms? And whatcha need a mirror for?

Luv, MisMused, MisAmused, mismused, your pick, sweetie, it don't matter none to me, I loves you anyway (uh, sometimes :p ). :rose:

You are a cracker jack prize. This CAN be a prize to kids, but not when I need an intelligent fuck. :D Answer something intelligently for me, then? Do you really give a shit about a score on Lit if you get paid to do what you do best?

Otherwise do what you do mediocre. WRITE! ;)

EDIT: OH -LOL you dont get paid?

Sharing the pain

I feel the dark forces at work here also; Sunday night I had logged in to check on the status of my new story "Misbehavin'" and found that it had indeed been approved. I went to the "view" portal and saw that there was one (1) view, one (1) vote, and one (1) comment. After reading the insulting comment, I went to the "NEW" stories link, the stories for the 15th had not been posted yet. I had stumbled upon the transition from approval to posting process as it occured. The only people who could have slammed my story were the Lit' staff themselves. This is chicken shit politics, and I don't appreciate it. I write for fun and relaxation. If other people desire to read my stories and derive enjoyment from it, I am satisfied. I don't write for the goblins and slimeballs that call themselves "anonymous". I am turning off the voting and comment options to my stories, and encourage others to do likewise, at least until its cleaned up.

Oh, you came back, sweetie. How nice.

Cracker jack prize. Hmm! Used to love them, but uh, the Charlieism, : "This CAN be a prize to kids, but not when I need an intelligent fuck."

Let's see, translation (if possible). You're looking for an intelligent fuck in a cradker jack box, but not one that's for kids (uh, the prize, or whatever, I think - Sheesh!).

Mercy, how you do try the brain.

Now the other: "Do you really give a shit about a score on Lit?" (Omitting the pay part as you said since I don't get paid. Yes and no. Oh, come, come, don't give with the rolled eyes about "intelligently." Everything is quantum, even if some say we're in the classical world. That's hog-wash. We're atoms, and if we're atoms, and atoms are us, and atoms are quantum made by virtue of quarks, then everything, including us'ns is quantum. Right? No? Phooey on you then. Go pick on someone your own size. :nana:

Okay, so your opinion of my writing is that I'm mediocre. Fair enough, go read, then PC, and vote your 1. I won't fuss if that's what you truly think. Be my guest, oh great one. Uh, yeah, I do think you're great! In some ways. You write fabulously, if a trifle dramatic and in your face, let's do it way. I did love it, and I said so. Now then, you're entitled to your opinion too, no? Yes, of course you are.

Go on, little girl, go do as you see fit. It's okay. It is. :rose:

Love talking to you.

mismused, or whatever to you. Bye, sweetie.

Charlisms are very Lear and Carroll, so don't pretend you get them  How you do not 'try my brain', well, it's a different story since sex and brain do not often mix. ;)

Quantum is, if you see it is ... if you don't? Who cares about the results in a nutshell? (I know spell it out into the proverbial layman cat in a box experiment, and not Dr. Seuss).

So really, your words have nothing to do with votes, as you see.

Your original question ... and mine: Why does it matter if you get a 1 or 5? Is it not better to be loved or hated than to get consistent 3's to tell you? In fact, SCREAM TO YOU! That you are mediocre?

Stories can show up in your bio/story list page before they show up on the new stories list, so no, I don't think it was "Lit staff" that bombed your story.

That's a new one on me. Hadn't heard that before. Sorry.

Sorry? OK, nothing in the word deserves a 1 vote - but they are easily removed. BUT SERIOUSLY! WHO TAKES VOTES ON LIT SERIOUSLY?

Hi, little one, glad to see you back. Now to decipher. Hmm! Lear and Carroll? I give up on that one. How do I not try your brain, since sex and brain do not mix? Oh, really? That's news to me. Try writing, you'll find they mix very well. Oh, wait, you do write, and quite nicely too, I saw. Oh, well, on to the next part. How'm I doin' so far? Never mind.

Not quite, my lovely, not quite. We don't see a lot of things, but that doesn't mean they're not really there. We don't see atoms, yet here we are. Okay, go ahead, push that one some more. I'm waiting . . .

Cat in a box? Like the cracker jack box? Is that what you were referring to when you said you needed a cracker jack fuck? A quantum, here, but not here, fuck in a box, eh? Very nice, Charlie. I really like you.

Uh, I see? Words have nothing to do with votes? Uh, did I do an audio, are you saying? Really? Oh, my. Wall I declaaa!

Did I question to you if I got a 1 or a 5? Hmm, don't remember that.

Okay, on to the last one, or nearly so. Why do I care if I get a 1 or a 5? Okay, I give up, why? Wanna tell me? Pleeese? Pretty please?

"Is it not better to be loved or hated than to get consistent 3's to tell you?" Uh, I give up again. What's better? Oh, did you try out for the part of Hamlet? "To five, or not to five, that is the three, or is it the 1, er, one?" Never could get that right. Well, didn't like it anyway. Glad you've got a better mind than I do.

"In fact, SCREAM TO YOU! That you are mediocre?" Oh, hush, child, I hear you. No need to yell. Mercy! Okay, I'm mediocre. Is that like okra? No? Shucks?

Now here's a kiss  baby, now run along and play before your bedtime. :D

Gee, Charlieisms are fun. Who knew. Well, I really don't understand them, but Charlie is nice. Bye-bye, baby.

mismused :rose:

You are a jerk, you know that? You still can't get charlisms because you cant even understand being a prize in a cracker jack box, (though I know you do) Why goad me>
