Walker paradise IC (open)

"I'm Cody, and that handsome gentleman sniffing your boot is Barry." Cody said slowly lowering his hands. "The guy behind me is Matt." Cody said hoping the man had out away his gun. "How about we all put away our weapons and go into the diner and get a bite to eat? Then we can all pass around a bowl and get to know each other." Cody said walking into the diner, hoping the rest of the group would follow peacefully.

Hiromi didn't hear or see any kyonshi and she was debating whether or not to cut her arm or leg, when a rat scuttled out of the alley. In a flash she was next to it and with a quick flick of her wrist, the animal was cut in two.

She knealt down next to it and whispered a prayer for the soul of the creature, thanking it for it's sacrifice. Once the ritual was finished, she pulled out a rag from her pocket and reverently wiped her blade clean carefully inspecting it for damage. Once she was done, she stood up and returned it to it's scabboard.

Looking at the others, she said "I will protect you from the kyonshi as you poison your minds and dull your reflexes. All I ask in return is food. It has been days since I had a proper meal, and I do not wish to start a fire to cook this animal, she gestures at the carcass of the rat."

"Hey! Why'd you do that? That little dude was just scuttling around for some cheese, you didn't need to cut him in half." Cody said unconsciously moving closer to Barry. "And it's just a little bit of weed, it's not heroine or anything. We're not going to be passed out, we'll be fine." Cody said leading the group into the diner. He led them into the back room where he'd left his bags. "We can hang out here until tomorrow. There are pots and stuff over there if you want to start on dinner Matt." Cody said, walking over to the shelves. He grabbed a handful of metal cooking spoons and an apron. He cut the apron into strips and tied them one to each spoon. He then tied the spoons into a long rope.

"There!" He declared happily showing off his handiwork to the group. "It doesn't matter how stoned you are, anyone will hear these clanging." Cody said walking back to the front room. He secured the improvised alarm across the door way before returning to the group.

Cody sat down on a counter and looked around at the group, a small smile on his face. "It's been a really long time since I've seen anyone else. In fact since this whole thing started I've only met one dude. His name was Daniel. Pretty cool guy, kinda scary though."

Cody paused and pulled a joint and lighter from his pocket. He lit it up and took a pull before continuing. "But anyways, I'm Cody. I'm from L.A. I was in a band before this whole thing started, and now I'm just wandering around trying not to get my face ripped off." He said looking around the room for the next introduction.

Hiromi shook her head, at the typical American ignorance of other cultures. Saying nothing, she followed the group into the restaurant. When they set up the half assed alarm, she wondered how that would help them fight off an attack when their motor skills, hand eye coordination and reaction times were significqntly slowed.

She sat away from the group, far from the door. If one or more of the kyonshi came in she wanted time to react and fight, as well as an area around her that was free of the living. Her honor would not let her abondon those who needed her help, and this group needed someone with a clear head to watch over them as they poisoned themselves.

"I am Hiromi. I was born in Kyoto. I came here as an exchange student. I was on the fencing team, and we were returning from a match, in which we were victorious. Our bus was attacked and half of the team and all the coaches were killed. We found safety in some woods several miles from here. We had a nice secure encampment, and had taken in several other survivors. Then one night someone turned. All too soon many kyonshi were in our camp, many of whom were friends to me. I ran and have not seen any of the others since. One of those I was forced to kill was very knowledgeable in survival. He taught me much."

A tear rolls down her cheek as she remembers all her friends who are no longer among the living.

"That's pretty rough. This whole thing is fucked up." Cody said standing up. He walked over to the refrigerator and pulled a bottle of dr. Pepper out before returning to his seat on the counter. He took a sip of his soda before continuing the conversation. "I didn't really have a group. I saw all those rotter dudes on the news and me and Barry hid in my basement for like a month. Then once we got out, it was pretty quiet. I went to my drug dealers place and grabbed as much weed as I could and then left the city." Cody paused and dug around in his pocket before pulling out a snub-nose revolver. "I also got this at his place, and it only has three bullets left. Does anyone have extra?" Cody asked looking around the room.

Emma finally spoke. "My name is Emma. I was homeless until I got a part time job. Where I met my boyfriend. My parents are dead. When they struck on the news. I had been living in a apartment with my boyfriend. I told him i would be back, I just needed my bow. When I came back 10 minutes later... I found them...attacking him.,. I killed them but it was too late..... Emma looked away. "He had been bit and we said our last words. Before he asked me to kill him...I did... I've been talking shelter in the salon since. I hunt everyday. If you want meat just ask."

"Sorry, all the ammo I got is for my .40. Before shit hit the fan I was a professional cook, I was actually on vacation out here looking for some places to start a business, but I guess that's not gonna happen now. It's funny, my friends and I used to always plan for shit like this, we had this one great plan to take over some territory out in the country, it was a pass through some mountains, highly defensible with the only road for miles, we could just blockade the road and we'd be set up all nice and pretty like with a couple riflemen on the ridges to watch our backs." All this said while he checked the stove to make sure all the gas lines were connected so he could safely make a fire. "This is the first time in...man I don't even know how long I've spoken with people who aren't shooting at me or me at them, I haven't been with a group at all this whole time but luckily I know a few tricks of the trade as far as roughing it goes."

He snorted at that, "Yeah, sure. Let me tell you, Ive got it super easy, I just go out, chat up my groaning driver Fredrickson and have him cart me all over town doing so I can run my errands then I head back to my penthouse suite for some hot cocoa...oh no...wait, that's what I dream about while I sleep in a thorn bush with one eye open and my hatchets and knife never far from my hand and a grumbling stomach because I couldn't risk a fire to cook anything that night and the pickings for foliage in these parts can be kinda slim."

Emma laughed "Yeah? I don't hear you talking about your dead family or friends." You think we sleep in master bedrooms? Emma snorted "Nooooope"

"This isn't a dick measuring contest guys, we've all had it rough." Cody said to Emma and Matt. "We're probably the last non-cannibals in America. The least we can do is try to get along." Cody said. He took a long pull from his joint before offering it to Emma. "Smoke-Em peace pipe?" He said with a half smile, hoping his speech didn't make him come across as an asshole.

Emma laughed, "why not" She smirked and took the joint. Emma took a long pull. She coughed. "Well that's strong" She handed it back to Cody. "Thanks" She said laughing.

"No problem." He smiled back before taking another hit from the joint. He then handed it to Matt, and smiled at the group. "See? It's better if we're all friends." Cody said happily. "Once we finish that joint, maybe our resident chef can start on dinner? I have, pickles, crackers, condiments, skittles, and fruit loops if that will help with dinner, Matt. And after we eat I'll pack us a bowl for desert." Cody said hoping the peace would last.

"I have venison want me to go grab it? There's plenty" Emma noticed Cody was a large man of keeping peace. Thankfully. Or me and matt may have killed each other by now.

"That sounds amazing! I can't even remember the last time I had meat!" Cody said with a wide smile. He stood up and stretched. "Do you mind if I come with you? It's probably not a great idea to go out there alone." Cody said, hoping his excuse to get some one-on-one time with Emma wasn't too obvious.

He took a few hits on the j then handed back to Cody as he got some water boiling in a pot for his freeze dried packages, "some meat does sound pretty good actually and if all the noise we've made hasn't attracted anything yet then I doubt the smell of cooking meat will...speaking of that though, I feel like we should have someone keeping an eye out on things
" He glanced over at Hiromi, "you wanna pull 'sentry' duty or you wanna watch the water boil while I do it?"

"Not not all! I have to get my traps out of there anyway" she picked up her bow and quiver. "We'll be back" as she gestured for Cody to follow and walked out of the diner.

"Hai. I will make sure you all live through the night." she said jumping off the counter she was sitting on, and walking to the door. Glad for the fresh air as the sickly sweet aroma was making her lightheaded and naseous.

She looked arond the deepening twilight, and heard a faint sound. She struggled to make it out, but it was far off. She could tell it was not by by anythig alive, or that used to be. Shrugging she forgot about the noise and waited for the others to return, savoring the quiet of the night, something she hadn't experienced in a long long time.

"There that's it, I think that's as much as we can carry" She held venison and traps. She heard a few noises. She turned her head to Cody, "you hear that? she asked

Williams glanced up at the sign again. "Welcome to Remedy" it reads. "More like welcome you Remnant." he winced thinking himself as the remainder of a zombie feast. He grunted on picking up the heavy suitcase again, and walked into the small town.
Williams glanced up again, the moon was already out...he'll really need a place to bunk. His theories has showed him that the modified metabolic behaviours of V12 gave them the ability to hunt even in the dark with the help of smell and sound. He wondered if detecting heat was also among their sensors. On entering the main street he made for a supermarket close by. "Ahh!" he mouthed after trying the door repeatedly. Ofcourse he can just use the bat on it...no, that will attract unwanted visitors, and now that it is getting late, he might actually run into one rather than away from one.
He turned to see what seemed like two individuals hurrying into an alley, their movements un-V12 like. He cautiously moved towards the direction, his eyes focused only on the alley

As he lightly moved towards it. With the help of the moon's light, Williams could make out two shadows coming out of the alley. Not knowing what to think he quickly ducked behind a nearby Nissan, and by so doing accidentally triggered its alarm.
"Ahhh!!" he shouted exasperated. With one swing he shattered the car's window, put his hand through and turned off the alarm. Williams heaved and sighed in relieve, he was fast but it was too late.
He heard footfalls approaching from the other side of the car and brought out his pistol, aimed it at his head, he closed his eyes and tried to think of reasons to still his shivering hands.
"This is better, this is better." he mouthed silently.

The moment he heard that alarm go off his pistol was in his right hand and a hatchet in his left. He hurried out to the man dining area of the diner and crouched in a booth as he looked out a window. He glanced in Hiromi's direction as he spoke, "You see what started the commotion out there? Shit...what if it's something that attacked the others?"

Emma dropped everything and loaded her bow in a instant, running outside she pointed her bow at another stranger. "Are you fucking kidding me?! Things were just getting settled, step out from behind the car. Now"

"God damn! Did I miss the memo for a survivors convention?" Cody said to no one in particular. He walked up behind Emma and gently placed his hand on her arm. "I think that's another dude." He said slowly lowering her bow. Cody slowly approached the car, stopping a few yards away from it. "Hey! Dude behind the car! We're people. We won't hurt you unless you're one of those muncher dudes. Just come out from behind there. We've got food and everything." Cody said hoping this guy wasn't about to blow him a second asshole.

Emma eyed for any movement behind the car. As Cody approached Emma didn't notice a corpse walk up behind him. Emma raised her bow and shot the corpse right next to Cody, pinning the zombie to the wall near the stranger. Emma hoped this would lure out the stranger.
