Hi handsome.

I came to watch the exchanges between you and the ever-gracious in defeat Cate.

Hi Beautiful

Cate may be gracious in defeat but I have a feeling she's going to be unbearable if she wins!

Opps, I forgot that's how we did it. Oh well.... ;) It's still low number wins right? Cuz that's me at this point!!!

Den I am far to gracious in defeat aren't I? I might have to change that this time... (by winning!!) Hi to you!! :rose:

I think I like your way of scoring best it looks a little closer that way!

IF, IF I win. lol I think you know me well enough to know the answer to that thought. OK, well, maybe a little fun. But it isn't over yet.

Hey, can you get some of those Jack Nickalaus notes? I'd love to have some for a few gifts.

I think you have to be in Scotland to get them. The Scottish notes are different to ours in England, but I'll check in to it and let you know.

Always true. How are you? I hope the wildfires are not a concern to your area. It must be incredibly difficult to deal with that fear.

Thanks for your concern Cate, I'm very lucky as I do not live near the fires.

I have to call a friend, I've been putting it off as I fear it won't be good news, who has horse property in one of the most-damaged areas. She and her husband were building their dream home and horse arena.

Oh Den... I hope they are OK. We are lucky against the fires, but then I look at some of the warehouse fires and apartment fires and it could be close soon. *I sound like a bummer* I really hope your friends and horses are OK. Is it bad of me to say, that I more so worried about the horses? I have read how afraid they are in fire. Like a deer in headlights.

I know my friend would have gotten hers out of danger immediately. The last I knew was that she was boarding him while they were building on their property.

I don't think you're bad at all for caring about the horses; I did the same thing. I just hope that the homeowners who chose to stay until the last minute at least took care of their animals who didn't have a say in the matter.

You're right, with as dry as it is here all it takes is one spark and it quickly grows out of control. Just around the corner is monsoon season-thunder and the possibility of fires started by the lightening

Hey friend....... The Open is done and what a great tournament it was. I especially enjoyed seeing some of the older players among the top finishes.

So, here are the numbers:

You had Tiger, -14, Campbell, -7, Clarke -5 and Luke, Par Total 26

Their finish position Tiger 1, Campbell 5, Clarke 7 and Luke 52 Total 65

I had Goosen -7, Sergio -7, Vijay -7 and Phil +1 Total 20

Finish position Goosen 5, Sergio 5, Vijay 5 and Phil 60 Total 75

Shall we call it a draw?
;)

The final Major of this season:

Aug 11-14
87th PGA Championship
Baltusrol Golf Club - Lower
Springfield, NJ

The Lower Course - Par 70 (34/36) 7,191 Yds

The Lower Course at Baltusrol Golf Club is reminiscent of its Scottish ancestors, with stretches of flat, open land and greens surrounded by mounds and bunkers that have a rugged quality to them. It has been home to countless dramatic championships in its stellar history.

Cate I am very sorry to have to tell you this but by my calculations you lost both ways of scoring:

Cate

Position (Score)

Retief Goosen 5 ( -7)

Sergio Garcia 5 ( -7)

Vijay Sing 5 (-7)

Phil Mickleson 60 (+1)

Total 75 (-20)

Me

Tiger Woods 1 (-14)

Michael Campbell 5 (-7)

Darren Clarke 15 (-5)

Luke Donald 52 (E)

Total 73 (-26)

The scores and positions were taken from The PGA Website

I am so sorry you had to lose again :)

What a great tournament it was. As you say it was good to see some of the old guys doing well, particularly Monty who gave Tiger a run for his money.

Cate I'll let you decide how you want to score this one and also as usual let you have first choice of player.

I know you're sorry I lost again... I've grown accustomed to losing to you - in a fun way.

It really was great to see Monty mount that charge, he made the tournament more exciting. I wonder if the 'older' crew fared well because due to the way you play a St. Andrew's type of course rather then the manicured perfection mostly seen on tour. It might look ragged to most but it's the way to play the game.

I'll get back to you on ideas for the Championship. Might have to get more creative to give me a chance.

Good morning to you all. :rose:

I miss you too

Cate I have an idea that might mean you could win. How about you choose less players than me then your overall score could be better than mine!

You know you might have a point there about St Andrew's. What I think is great is that being the home of golf and designed many years ago it is still very much of a test for the big hitters of today. It just shows that technology and power doesn't necessarily make the best golfer (particularly if you take Tiger out of the equation).

Wanderer, I am sorry for all that is going on in London - it must be frightening. I hope you and your family are well and peaceful. :rose:

No way am I going to win using tricks - it has to be the real deal or nunth'. lol It's more fun that way... you know I'm not competive - I'll just beat you fair and square!

St. Andrew's is golf - real golf. We have a public course here that is natural - in the sense that they do not manicure it, it uses the natural contours, plantings etc. It's one of the courses that doesn't use all the chemicals etc, it has been rated one of the best in the country when it comes to environmental safety. It's a tough course too, very tight and compact in spots and long and lanky in others. It's not a links course in the strick definition but it reminds me of one.

I agree about the technology and power. Power isn't key in golf - precision is as always. Using the natural lay of the land means more to me - but I wouldn't give up my whippy titanium clubs! Amazing how things have changed. I still have my first 'adult' set of clubs, forged steel, stiff and heavy blades... the technology moves so much fasters now, it can be like buying a computer - as soon as you get it's almost obolete.

So there are a few weeks to go before The Champsionship - we'll figure something out. But we play it square my friend! Just like golf, if you play from the blues then I play from the blues.

But Cate, I was only trying to give a deserved handicap because you need a little more help at these games :D

As for playing from the blues, they are Junior tees here! Red are ladies, Yellow - mens and whites are competition! But anyway I know what you mean. I shall happily play from the same tee as you, and will be very happy for you if you ever manage to beat me!

Talking of golf technology did I tell you about my new driver? I was hitting it out of the back of the range yesterday...awesome! All I have to do now is learn how to hit it straight!

Oh, Wanderer your sincerity and graciousness are overwhelming! lol

Glad you understand the tees... here the tees are blue, white, red for men's seniors, ladies. I use the same tee as my companions, it's faster (usually) and a fun intimidation to some. ;) Yes you mentioned your driver... need lessons on how to hit it well? LOL

I'm off - I have a hot date! I'm going to the Willy Wonka movie with my nephew!! Popcorn and slushes and whatever his heart desires.

Stay well Wanderer... talk later.
