War of the Immortals

"Christian is gone", sighed Lokken. He though he might know what might happen next, but did nothing but sit there.

Adrianna

Tears slipped from Adrianna's eyes and down her face. She nodded her head. "He has left because of me. Because he is trying to protect me. I was so wrong in getting mad at him. I should have known why he was doing it."

Her eyes opened and she stared at the ceiling of the tent. "I am so tired of being dependant on others. I leaned to much on him. Asked too much of his friendship. I didnt mean to...his friendship filled a very lonely place in my heart."

She sighed and looked over at Lokken. "I suppose you will be leaving do battle soon. I...I suppose I should find a way to go home." She looked away again. She was so very confused. She didnt want to go home. To go back to her tower and isolation but she did not know what else to do.

"No", said Lokken, with surprisong firmness. "Do not go home. You are one of the only friends I have in this world. Not onyl would it be bad for me, it would be bad for you as well. You need to find a way around Christian. Find a way to combat your internal demons", he said gently.

Cristian

Cristian kept on walking down the road and pretty soon came upon a village. As soon as he entered the village he knew that something was wrong and his suspicions were confirmed when a group of orcs appeared before him. They pointed at him and began running at him but before they could reach where he was he raised his hand and they all disappeared as the line of fire flew from his hand.

He then walked a little further and stopped when he saw a large armored figure standing in the middle of the village with people all around him. He walked out into the opening and shouted out, "I would ask you to please let those people go!"

The armored figure turned to Cristian and laughed then said, "Do you wish to die mage."

"I do not wish to die but if I am destined to die here then I will take you with me."

He then raised his hands and shouted out the words to an incantation as a large ball of energy appeared above his hands. As soon as he stopped chanting he looked at all the people and shouted out, "Go! Run now!"

He then turned and looked at the armored figure who began laughing and sent a mental message to Adriana Goodbye my dearest friend. I never meant to hurt you but I know that I have, please forgive me

He then threw the ball of energy and the resulting explosion shook trees all around the area.

"What in the name of Belial?" asked Lokken suddenly, feeling the explosion.

Adriana

Adriana sat up in the bed, weary as she was. Her every muscle felt like it had been abused. Sitting up, she turns her dark gaze to Lokken, her eyes puzzled.

"Lokken, you never cease to amaze me," She said in a gentle voice,"From the moment that I met you you seemed so distant and cold. Of course your loss would be enough to cause that, I know. But I am now seeing what a gentle man you can be and I like the person I see now."

A wane smile turns up her lips and she says,"Though I can still see the general in you, I think that there is more to you than you let on. You are full of surprises...my friend."

"If you will have me, I will stay though I dont know what good I can do." Giving a deep sigh, she adds,"Thank you...for all you have done for me."

It was then that she felt the explosion and heard Lokken exclaim. Looking around, frightened she said,"What was that?"

OOC: I hate to do it here but I have to tell you about the explosion that ripped the village and surrounding area to bits- I am not going to let Cristian die in it.

"I'll send some soldier sot check. Thrinta, go check out what that was. I know it had something to do with Christian", he grimaced. "Thank you, Adrianna. You have already done more for me than you know", he smiled getly.

Adriana returned Lokken's smile and shook her head. "I do not know how, but if I did than I am happy."

It was at that moment that she recieved Cristian's mental message-or at least became aware of it. Closing her eyes she reached inside of her for a little bit of energy to send a message back to him.

"No, Cristian," Her mind cried out,"You never hurt me or failed me. I understand. It is I who owe you an apology. Forgive me for being so selfish."

She opened her eyes again her heart was hoping that her friend would recieve the message but her mind told her that he was not there. She could not feel him there...could not feel his reciept of the message.

"Oh please let it only be the fact that my energy is drained," She said silently to herself but with no convictions to the words.

OOC: sorry to do this but Isolde- could you please change your last thread so that when you send the message you feel nothing there as if there is a blank space where Cristian should be.

OOC: thank you and sorry for being a little pushy but I am trying to find a reason for some of my characters to disappear so that the threads that I am in don't die.

OOC: I wouldn't exactly kill off the characters, though.

IC: "He is gone, isn't he?" asked Lokken lightly.

Adriana

Adriana looked at Lokken and nodded, the tears streaming down her face. On impulse she threw herself into his arms and cried...letting go of all the tears and sorrow that the last day had brought her, sobbing on his shoulder and not caring if the world saw her.

As the tears ended, she realized what she had done and blushed uncontrollably. Disentangling herself, she wiped the tears away and said,"I...I'm sorry. Forgive me if I made you uncomfortable. I dont know what overcame me."

Adriana

Adraina looked at Lokken and smile and then a small laugh came from nowhere as she shook her head. "I do believe you will always be able to surprise me, Lokken," She said still not able to grasp the soft side of this man that had come out since the tragic death of his son.

Suddenly, a wave of exahustion hit her and she blinked sleepily. Smiling at Lokken, she said,"I think I should try and get some more sleep and I know you have many troops to guide. Cristian....I dont know what happened but he was prepared for this-more so than I. Somehow I know that, if he is gone, he did it in a way to further our goal."

The tears begin to flow again but this time she had a sad smile on her face. Wiping away her tears and knowing Cristian would not want that, she leaned forward to place a light kiss on Lokken's cheek.

"Thank you," She said as she lay back down on the bed and drifted back to sleep.

"Thank you", he said back to her as she lay down. He put a hand to his cheek, and walked outside. He plopped down on the ground, and pondered for a while.

Adriana

Adriana did not know how long she had slept but when she awoke she knew that it was a new light that greeted her through the opening in the tent. Rising, she realized that she felt more refreshed now than she had in a long time. She could feel that her energy had returned and she felt ready to go on even without Cristian.

Cristian...a sad smile played about her face at the memories of him flooded her mind and the knowledge that she would probably never see him or know exactly what happened to him hit her.

Wait a minute, Lokken had sent out a scout! Hurrying up out of her bed, she exited the tent and went to search the camp for him. The camp was abuzz with activity as she entered into it and she couldnt seem to catch anyones attention to find out where Lokken was. Standing in the middle of the camp with her hands on her hips and her face in a scowl, she said in a frustrated voice,"Will someone please tell me where Lokken is?!"

Adriana

Adriana smiled at Lokken's approach and then her mouth turned down in a frown. "Oh, Lokken," She said shaking her head,"I am so sorry. I did not mean for you to lose a man when you sent him to see about Cristian."

Walking over to where she could talk to him and not have to shout, she said,"I dont know if Cristian is alive or not though I fear the worst. But he would want us to go on and accomplish that which he gave his very existance for...that I know."

Giving a small bow of her head, she said,"So please lead on and I shall try to serve you in the battle to come to the best of my abilities."

"Please don't bow to me, Adrianna. And don't apologize to me. They would die by the thousands for me, and unluckily, shall at the battle with Garath. Ride with me, Adrianna", he said, leaping onto a horse.

Adriana

Adriana reached up and grasped Lokken's hand as he helped her onto his horse. Sitting her in front of him, he grabbed the reins and Adriana settled herself back against him so that she would not fall off. When he asked if she was ready she nodded her head and looked forward to where the army was ever ready to obey any command Lokken would give them.

She marveled at how he could command this vast army with only a word or two. It had never occured to her before how much power he weilded and how well he did so. She wondered what it was about him that inspired such loyalty in his troops but she thought that she knew. The glance she had had of him had given her a new outlook on this man that she would never have had otherwise.

Steadying herself, she leaned back a bit as he urged his horse forward and was startled at how comfortable she felt with him.

The army marched forward, taking surprising care in not destroying the beautiful surroundings.
