War of the Immortals

OOC: Oh, woops. Ignore that stupid post of mine.

IC: Lokken leaped out and took one look at Adrianna. He motioned to Thrinta and they began to run after Adrianna, who led them to the hill. Lokken motioned to Thrinta solemnly, and Thrinta picked up Christian. They walked back to the tent, where Thrinta gently laid Christain on Lokken's bed.

He blushed deeply, his cheeks reaching a nice rosy glow from the small poolk of moonlight coming in. She had kissed him, she had kissed him and she had wanted to kiss him. No one had ever wanted to do that with him before, and to be here, to be in this place with someone was something he could never have imagined.
Garret took her hand in his, and then swam around her. He got behind, hugging her tightly. She seemed so warm, her hair smelling of sweet morning dew. He breathed in, tkaing the fragrence from this place, and keeping it his own. She smelled so good.
His lips quivered despite the warm water. He was shaking all over, except his arms, they touched her warm tender skin, relaxing him, loving him.
Leaning closer, his lips touched her ear. He kissed slightly, letting the sensation touch them both.
"I'm glad you did," he whispered. He wanted to do more, he yearned to do more, to touch her, to embrace her, but he didn't. He coudln't. He didn't even know why, but he couldn't.
He swam back around, and looked into her eyes. They seemed so much bigger than his, he knew if he would stare at them long enough he would certainly be lost in them forever.
"I'm glad I came here too. We haven't gotten a lot of time to speak, just you and me. I know it's been a rough day, I've had many myself. I just wanted to be here, for you."
He had almost said with you. He didn't know why he didn't, but he knew there was something holding him back. A lost memory perhaps, something fom his past, although his past was so shaky and disasterous the he was almost certain anything from their would corrupt everything he ever shared intimate with a person again. He didn't know what it was, but it did hurt him, hurt him more than he could ever know.
Through the midsts of all of this, he thought of his sister, when she was pleading with him to make the rose grow. She looked at him with such love and such awe... a look not quite unlike Isolde's now. He could see so much of his sister in her.
"Tell me something," he asked, "Anything, everything, but something, please tell me something."

Isolde

Isolde laughed softly and raised her hand to stroke Garret's cheek. She was still feeling shivers from being in his arms. "And what do you want me to tell you?," She asked, a smile of pure happiness playing over her lips. It felt so right being here with him now.

"Do you want me to tell you how much I enjoy your company or how you can make me laugh or smile or simply feel better by being around? If I told you all that I dont think you would believe that it was true even though it is."

Isolde shook her head and leaned over on her back to swim for a few moments in the moonlight before swimming back up to him and staring him in the eyes. She felt like she might drown in them without even knowing half of what was in those liquid pools.

"Or maybe you would like me to tell you about how I felt when you held me just a bit ago. How I felt safe and warm in your arms and how I lost I felt when you took them away?," She tilted her head to one side to look at him. "Somehow I dont think you have faith enough in yourself that those things can be true but they are...everyone of them."

Adriana

Adriana falls to her knees by the side of the bed and takes Cristian's hands in her own. Tears falling from her eyes, she whispers,"Please, Cristian, please be okay."

She continues to sit by him, never leaving his side, even when prompted. She would not desert her friend for anything...not even and order.

Lokken called for the Darkest Priest and healers. They rushed in, the Darkest Priest last. The Priest ran over to Christian and felt his neck. He put his thumb to the side of Christian's neck and frowned. He pressed down, and Christian finally went into full unconciousness. The healers began to take out different implements. "That won't be necessary. Can't you see he's my general, not a prisoner?" barked Lokken. The healers put away the tools, however, they muttered a few words under their breath before Lokken silenced them with a sharp look. The Priest stood over Christian, and his eyes became white. "Your pain is my pain, my power is your power", he chanted over and over, before he screamed out in agnoy, clutching his head. A littled yellow grains of some kind began to flow out of the Priest and into Christian. Red grains went from Christian to the Priest. The Priest had now sunken to his knees, and clutched his head in both hands, and veins throbed in his forehead. He shouted out again and again in agony, and every time he did, Lokken flinched. Lokken had also sunken to his knees, and was ghostly white. He prayed for Belial to give the Darkest the power needed to survive the ordeal.

Garret held her hands in his, silently bobbing in the water. He didn't exactly know why, but his heart was racing inside his chest. A feeling of acceptance swept over him. Her words had touched him, yes, any man not looking into her beautiful face while she said those wonderful things would have instantly fell in love or turned to stone. Garret could still move his feet, so he picked the latter. He leaned in closer to her, smelling the warm aroma around her body. A simple pleasent smell, that would drive any man wild.
The moon was beginning it's cresent back to the earth, and Garret knew they had to leave. As much as he wanted them to stay, forever if not longer, he knew when it was time to go.
"Come on," he said, guiding her back to the shore, "We can talk of these things later, these and many more things, but now we should return. Morning will reach us soon enough, tomorrow is an important day for all of us."
He did this every time, he didn't even know why. She would talk of potential and great many things, and he would try to shove it away, like a cat who was done playing with a toy. He wasn't sure why he would do it either, he wanted to tell her everything, wanted to show her more things than he himself had ever imagined, but for some reason he hesitated.
Why?
Perhaps the answer would come later.

Isolde

Isolde shook her head and walked up to the shore. She was soaked and her clothes clung to her figure and her hair hung down in wet tangles but she was smiling.

Looking tenderly at Garret, she smiled,"Ok, we will get back." She was not going to push this man. If anything was to be between them than she would let it come naturally.

Taking his hand, she picked up her weapons and they went back to Lokken's tent. Stepping inside, she saw Cristian and Adriana and her heart dropped. Cristian had evidently been hurt badly and Lokken was having the healers work over him but it did not look like they were doing very well at all. She moved to the side to watch and be available if needed.

Cristian screamed out in pain, even though he was being healed it was hurting him. He opened his eyes and looked up at the priest who looked like he was about to collapse and placed one hand on his shoulder. As soon as he did the priest opened his eyes and backed away from Cristian then collapsed on the floor. Cristian began to rise but before he could he felt a pair of hands being placed on him and looked down to see Adriana looking at him, trying to hide the worry that was on her face. He tried to smile but found that he couldn't and said, "Please, don't worry about me. There are other people to worry about more than me."

Adriana

Adriana's temper flaired just slightly and she looked hard at Cristian. "Cristian, you are my dearest friend. You took me in when no one would have me and showed me kindness and love when everyone else shunned me. How can you assume that I can not worry about you? I will worry about you and nothing you say will sway me from it because that would mean I did not really care about you."

Slipping an arm around him, she turned to Lokken. Standing fast, she faced him....something that she did not do often as she usually chose to avoid conflict. But this was Cristian...this was important.

"I am taking him to his tent. I understand that you need to have a conference but it will have to on without us because I wont have any more strain put upon him tonight. So you can either reschedule your talk or go on without us."

A light had come to her eyes and her chin was set in a stubborn angle. She would stand fast on this issue.

Lokken ran to the priest and put his fingers on the priest's neck. He let out a loud sob. "He's dead! My last son is dead!" he shouted. A mournful cry came from the other priests and officers.

Cristian looked at Lokken and then the priest in shock and then anger at what the priest had just sacrificed for him, so that he may live. He turned to Lokken, "I am truly sorry for your loss Lokken and I wish that I could say something to help relieve the pain that you must be feeling but I know that anything that I say will not be enough and will never bring your son back."

Before he could say anything more Cristian was helped to his feet by Adriana who told him that they were going to his tent and she didn't want any arguments from him. He said something under his breath which got a stern look from Adriana. He looked at her with a smile but saw that it wasn't going to work and then walked with her to his tent.

Once the two of them were in his tent Adriana helped him to sit down on his cot then knelt before him, looked into his eyes but said nothing. He looked at her and saw that her eyes were red as if she had been crying and wondered what was wrong. He leaned forward and was about to put his hand onto her cheek but before he could she moved her face away. He moved his hand away and said in a calm voice, "What is it. What's wrong?"

Adriana

For a moment Adriana could not speak but only looked around the tent, studying everything, looking everywhere except for Cristian.

Swallowing hard, she said in a small voice,"I have been having a feeling lately Cristian. An overwhelming feeling that you are headed for your death. So many times has death tried to claim you only to claim someone else instead but still it trys."

"One of these times you are going to leave me and, somehow, I know you know it but you are trying to spare my feelings. We are going into the darkest moments of our lives and you are my only light right now and I feel like it is only a matter of time before that light is extinguished!"

Having laid her fears out to him, she lay her head on the bed and began to sob, her shoulders shaking with the emotions she was feeling.

Cristian moved forward and began to run his fingers through Adriana's hair, unsure of what to say. She had told him that he was heading for his death and he had seen it but he couldn't tell her that but he knew that he could not keep it from her. He cleared his throat, "Adriana, I fear that you are right and I will not live to see the end of this stupid war as I have been given a vision, one that I wish had never come to me. I have seen my own death- it is something that will haunt me for every day that I am alive and it is something that I wanted to keep to myself but if I hide it from you then I will break your trust as a friend in me."

He stood then and walked towards the flap of the tent, wondering whether or not to leave and let her be alone with her thoughts but he knew that would be the worst thing that he could do at this time as he had just told her something that would come as more than a shock to her. He walked over to his bed, sat down on it and looked at her body on her bed, wondering what thoughts had to be going through her mind.

Adriana

Adriana lay there for a long while thinking on what Cristian had said. She could feel him watching her and she knew she had to say something to him.

Sitting up, she looked at him and dried her eyes. "I knew you had a feeling also. It was as if you had cut yourself off from me to try and protect my feelings. But if you are going to die," Her voice caught in her throat but she went on,"If fate has you slated to die than I want to make sure that I use what time I have left with you wisely."

"I do not want you to leave me unless I am sure I have said everthing to you that I need to. I do not want to regret things being unsaid between us in the years to come."

"The first thing I must tell you is I love you," She held up her hand to silence him before he could come to conclusions,"Not in that kind of way. The love I have for you is pure and untainted and fully based on friendship. You are my dearest and closest friend and I could not love you more. I feel I can tell you anything and that you will understand. I feel so comfortable and safe around you that I thank the gods for sending me to you on that day."

"Some day I will probably fall in love with a man in that special way that men and women do but he will never take the place of you, dear Cristian. You have never failed me and I know you never will. I want to thank you for your friendship and for your caring. You were the first to show me either and that is a precious gift."

Laughing softly, she said,"I guess I really dont have anything else to say to you but I want you to carry my words with you no matter where you go as I shall carry the thoughts of your friendship with me."

Cristian sat there and looked at Adriana, "You are my dearest and closest friend and I would do nothing to hurt you. I will be happy when you do find that special person to share your heart with for you need someone like that."

He rested his chin on his right hand and looked at her with a serious look. If he was destined to die then there would be nobody around to train her and that was something that would be extremely dangerous as Adriana had more power than he had ever seen any person possess and if she was to go out half trained and not in full control of her ability then she could be killed. He started to say something but before he could he fell back against his bed, totally exhausted.

Adriana

Adriana jumped up and was immediately by Cristian's side. "Now it is time for you to rest, my dearest friend," She said softly as she settled him down in his bed and covered him with a blanket.

Placing a tender kiss upon his cheek, she added,"Tomorrow is yet another day and until fate takes you from me I will keep saying that."

Going to her own bed, she slipped beneath the covers and lay down, watching Cristian thoughtfully until sleep took her.

The next day, Lokken greatly surprised his officers. "I will not ressurect my son, as custom and law demands. He will be buried here", said Lokken, as calmly as possible. His officers, old and new stood before him, like their own little army. Through all his calmness, tears still dripped from Lokken's eyes. "Damnit all!" he shouted suddenly. He ran out to the tent and fell to his knees and let out a long, anguished cry. "Why Belial, why? Why do you torture your servant so? I have lost my entire family, and am far too old to be attractive to a woman. I can have children, but who would want my worn body? And I must live until someone kills me. Yet how are they to kill the Lord of Necromancers, Emperor of Taros?" he begged. Yet no message came from his god.

Cristian stood there and looked at Lokken and immediately felt the pain and anquish that he felt for his son. He had lost his last family member and it was because he tried to save Cristian's life. It had been done but at too great a cost and he wished now that he could exchange his life for the priest. He lowered his head and began to recite a prayer to his god, hoping that the deity would listen.

While he was lost in prayer he felt another presence deep within his mind and tried to keep it away from him but before he knew it he heard a voice in his head.

Why are you doing something as foolish as try to talk to the gods in this chaos. Your mind could be torn to shreds you fool and although I would like to see that I would rather it was done by me.

Who are you?! Why have you invaded my mind?

Hmmmm- I am known by many names but the most recent one is Garath. I have brought death, destruction and chaos to many worlds and nobody has been able to destroy me and you think that with your pitiful powers and that of your friends- especially the woman; oh, I will enjoy killing her-

NO! I will not allow you to hurt her. Even if I have to give my own life to save her then I will not let you touch her!

Then your life I will take and I will so enjoy doing it. I will tear you apart and then take your energy as my own- it will be glorious

Cristian was then hit with a energy bolt that slammed into his mind and caused him immense pain. Just then he felt a hand on his shoulder and a very familiar voice say, "Cristian- are you alright, Cristian?"

Adriana

"Cristian...Cristian," Adriana said, worry creasing her voice,"Are you okay? You went so pale. It was as if all the blood had been drained from you. Maybe you should sit down for a moment."

Setting him down, she knelt by him and caressed his cheek with her hand. Smiling at him, she said,"Are you okay? I know you are blaming yourself for the death of the healer but it isnt your fault."

Looking over to Lokken, Adriana felt tears of sorrow forming in her eyes in empathy for the man. "I just wish there was something we could do to help ease his pain. I cant imagine how he feels but right now I think he must feel very alone." Turning to look back at Cristian, she said,"I know that feeling well. Before I met you, that is all I felt."

"Then you must go and talk to him. See if there is something that you can do to ease his pain. He has lost someone dear to him and it is the hardest thing to have to go through."

Cristian sat there and looked at Adriana and thought She has a good heart. There was no way that I am going to let Garath get to her, even if it means sacrificing myself then I will do so.

"I will be alright. Lokken needs you more than I do, if you can get through to him. I have the feeling that you can because you have the most pure heart that I have ever seen in a person and if there is anyone that can comfort him it would be you."

Adriana

Adriana looked from Cristian to Lokken and back again. "You are sure you will be alright?," She said, a look of worry on her face. Only when he nodded did she rise from his side and go over to where Lokken knelt. She did not know exactly what to say to the man. He had seemed so strong and sure of himself until now. This was a side of him that she had never thought to see.

Kneeling down to him, she gently took his face in her hands and urged him to look at her. "Lokken," She said softly, her eyes trying to convey the truth of her words,"I think I speak for us all when I say how sorry we are for your loss."

"It is a terrible burden to bear and I am sure your heart feels like it has been torn asunder but you must keep him alive in your heart. Do not let despair take over. He was willing to die for this cause...for you...you must take that knowledge into battle and fight for his memory if nothing else. He would want you to...I know he would."

And then, because she could not think of anything else to do, she clasped her arms about him and held him tight, trying to comfort him.

"We shall be with you every step of the way. I promise. We are your friends."

OOC: How emotional and dramatic. Doesn't it just put tears in your eyes?

Lokken looked up, tears in his eyes, at the word friends. "I have had few friends throughout my life, Adrianna. And yet, the ones that I had, have been good to me. I have no doubt that you all will be too. But I find myself torn with the case of my son. I need a Darkest Priest, not one of those competing idiots who call themselves true mages, but someone who has the understanding of the ways of the world and their influence. With my son dead, no mage like that exists in my army", he said. "I could ressurect him, and the law and custom demand it, but I do not wish to, for I feel that I will dishonor him by doing this", he continued. He embraced her back, then stood up, wiping away the tears. "Christian comes first. I have long heard that he will die, but if it is in my power, I will change that wish for Garath. Even if it means my death", he said, his jaw firm with resolve. He pulled out a dagger and put it in his hand. He clasped his hand tight around the dagger, and pulled the dagger out of the fist. His blood leaked forward, but Lokken ignored it. Instead, he took a sip of it. "I swear, by my own blood, that Christian shall not die if I can stop it. I swear it if it means my own death", he said, sheathing the bloody dagger. He let his hand bleed.

Cristian watched as Lokken and Adriana bonded and smiled. He knew that if he was going to die then she would need someone there with her and Lokken seemed to be the best choice right now. He got to his feet and began to walk away from the two of them, knowing that they needed some time alone.

Cristian continued to walk, to clear his head when suddenly he came upon a clearing and tried to figure out just where it had appeared from. He looked around and saw that it was one of the most beautiful places that he had ever seen in his life and wondered if he was dead.

He looked down at the stream and when he looked there he received the shock of his life because the face that was looking at him was his but it looked older, much older. He looked at the face and then stood back when it smiled and then said, "Oh hello, I was wondering when I would get to talk to you."

"Who or what are you?" Cristian said, looking straight at the face.

"Why I am you you fool. Can't you see that?"

Cristian looked at the face and saw that it was indeed his but he knew that it wasn't because he was destined to die and he would never reach the age of the person in the stream.

"I know what you are thinking and I can't explain it but I will tell you that you are making a mistake by not staying as a white mage for only a white mage- one with a pure heart and with all of his powers has the power to stop Garath or whatever he calls himself now."

Cristian began to say something but before he could he felt an energy encircle him and looked down to see a white mage's robe appearing around him. He touched the robe and felt that it was real and started to take it off.

"Don't- you are a white mage with a pure heart. You have done things that you have not liked but it just shows how pure your heart is for if you had liked what you did then you would be a white mage no longer."

Cristian looked down at the face and said, "What is going to happen to me. Am I destined to die to end this stupid war?"

"I can not see into your future my fellow white mage but I will tell you that things have changed- things have most definitely changed."

Just then the face disappeared; Cristian looked at the stream and shouted out, "What has changed- answer me!"

Lokken sighed, then closed the wound with a heal spell. He hugged Adrianna once more, then offered her a seat in his personal tent. He collapsed on the bed, and rubbed his temples.

Adriana

Adriana looked around. Cristian was gone but she did not follow, she knew that he needed time by himself to figure things out. Instead, she accepted Lokken's invitation to be his guest in his tent.

Sitting down next to him as he lay on the bed, she cleared her throat and said,"Lokken...I have always been...well, afraid...to talk to you because I always saw you as a being wielding great power. The death of your son has shown me how much like us you can be. If you do not mind my making a small observation?"

"You are taking on entirely too much on your own. You say you need generals to help you, yet you still try to oversee every little thing. You do not trust those around you very well or easily do you? I know the feeling and I can sympathize but you really do need to understand that there are those who only want to be your friends and help you through this thing."

Taking his hand in hers, she said,"I know the loss of your son is great but maybe if you would trust me and talk of his life than his death may not seem so overwhelming."
