War of the Immortals

As Cristian walked back to his tent he found that he had a new focus, a sense of being that he thought he had lost. But as he walked into his tent he found that it was back and it was the best thing that he had felt in a long time. He was truly happy, he had found himself again. His hand then brushed the hilt of the sword that he wore at his hip and he looked down at it, knowing that he didn't need to wear it anymore.

He took it off slowly and placed it into his pouch and smiled when it disappeared. Cristian looked around the tent and knew then that he needed to be somewhere else and closed his eyes, disappearing in a bright flash of light.

When he reappeared he was in his labratory but found that it was a mess. He looked around in shock, wondering who had done this until he heard a noise to his right and turned, moved his hand and looked at the person in shock. His apprentice's face now had a large nasty looking scar across his face.

"Who did this," Cristian said as he knelt before his apprentice.

"Some soldiers master. They got through your wards and destroyed the labratory and killed Ralthus. I am sorry that I didn't stop them but there were too many of them."

"There is nothing that you could have done Ric. If they had enough power to get into this place then they would surely have destroyed you but first I have to get this place in order."

Cristian walked to the center of the room and thought about how the place had looked when he last left and spread his hands to either side of him. White light filled the room and there was several noises that could be heard. As soon as the light disappated Cristian looked around the room with a smile as everything was as it should be. He then looked up at the ceiling and said the phrases to one of his most powerful protection spells.

As soon as he was happy that his tower was once again protected he turned to Ric and helped him to his feet. He looked into his eyes and smiled before he told him to sit down. As soon as he had done so he placed on hand on his head and closed his eyes then said the phrases to the spell that had healed him and watched in amazement as the scar began to heal slowly.

Cristian looked at the scar and although it was still there it didn't look as nasty as it had. He knelt down before Ric, "Did the soldiers say anything when they came in here?"

"They did master- they said that they were here under the orders of Garath."

Cristian stood up then, his rage slowly building and he looked down at Ric, "I want you to stay here for if I don't return then you will be the master of this tower."

"But master, I-"

Cristian didn't give him a chance to say anything, he vanished again and appeared near the camp of his division and walked straight up to Thrinta. The demon looked at him in shock as he had never seen him with the robe on before this day.

"What is it that you want mage."

"I want you to get ready as we are leaving- now."

"But what of the rest of the army, Lord Lokken will not be very pleased if we leave on our own."

"I am leaving now and I would rather have you behind me but if you wish to stay here and miss out on a battle then it is your choice but I will say that you are going to miss out on a glorious battle."

Thrinta looked at Cristian and smiled, he had just said the word that would make any demon move- battle. This mage was a clever one and he knew that he should listen to what he had to say. He got to his feet and turned to the rest of the division and shouted out, "Everyone- get to your feet. We are leaving as of now!"

He then turned to the mage and said, "Where are we going general?"

"We are going to Garath's castle and see what we can do there but if we can find someone else to battle along the way then I will be more than pleased. Move the division out into the large clearing not far from here and I will join you as soon as I get my gear ready."

"Yes- at once general."

Cristian then walked off as the division got ready and began to move out.

As soon as Cristian had packed up his gear he wrote out a note and left it on Adriana's bed then walked out of the tent to join his division in the clearing.

"Yes, Adrianna, you speak truly. I shall try to tell you of my son. He was a mage from birth. He was handsome, but nobody could notice that now. He was thrown into a fire by an enemy of mine named Fuge. He was hideously demorphed. Fuge had before that, also killed my other son, daughter, and wife. I have been hunting Fuge down for hundreds of years, following him as he jumps dimensions", explained Lokken.

Adriana

Tears formed in Adriana's eyes as Lokken told her his tale. Her voice, when she finally spoke, was edged with sadness for the man. "Your tale is full of sadness, Lokken," She said,"And my heart goes out to you that you should suffer yet another loss but to spend your entire existance in pursuit of revenge? That is a lonely existance and for it to span so many centuries seems to add to the saddness of your story."

"Why do you not try to go on? Try to build yet another life surrounded by love instead of hate? Would this Fuge try to again kill that which you build? Is his hate for you that strong?"

As Cristian walked away from the camp he was having mixed feelings but he knew that he couldn't turn back now. He slowed down a bit and walked up beside Thrinta, looked at him and asked him if he could sense anything at all.

Thrinta looked back at the white mage and said, "I can sense a battle going on to the north and I feel that the winning army is made up of evil creatures."

"Then that is where we must go."

"That is not possible- we can not get to this battle in time as it might be over before we get there."

"Not if I open a portal."

Thrinta looked at him and didn't believe the white mage's words at first until he felt the intense power coming from the human. He then looked forward just as a portal opened up ahead of the group. Without another word Cristian walked forward and Thrinta followed him quickly- the rest of the division following.

As soon as they appeared they found themselves in the middle of a large battle and it was easy to see who the evil ones were. Without a word Cristian looked at Thrinta who turned to the division and shouted out, "Charge!"

The division moved forward in one mass and before the evil creatures had any time to prepare themselves slammed into the creatures, creating a large gap in their army.

The division began to throw everything that they had at the evil army and Cristian stood there in amazement as he saw lightning bolts and fireballs exploding everywhere. The evil army then sounded a retreat and what was left of the other army began to cheer as the division walked towards Cristian, Thrinta kneeling before him.

"That wasn't even a challenge."

Cristian laughed at that remark as the leader of the other army rode up on his horse and looked at Cristian with a smile, "I give you my thanks good sir. At first we thought that you were part of Garath's army but when we saw you attack them- well let me just say we are glad."

"Think nothing of it good sir, we are just here to do what we can."

"He would", said Lokken. "His hate for me is intense, though I know not what for", he continued. "He has tried to destroy everything I have ever built, from the lowest hut to the grandest palace."

Adriana

Adriana shook her head. She could not fathom that much hate. Sure the people of her village had avoided her but that was fear of her special 'powers' and not simply because they chose to hate.

She was going to tell Lokken that when she lifted her head. Something was different. Something was not right. Standing suddenly, she turned and raced out of the tent and stood there as she realized what it was. Cristian and his division were gone. He had pulled up stakes and left without her.

Tears began to form in her eyes and then to streak down her face. She shook her head in disbelief. "No," She mouthed silently. It couldnt be. He promised! He told her he would never run off again. She knew that he probably did it because he was trying to protect her but it didnt matter, he had once again broken his promise and was gone. She was now totally alone.

Moving away from the camp, she ran towards the woods and solitude to think this out.

Lokken watched Adrianna walk outside, but didn't stop her, thinking she was alright.

Cristian sat alone in the shade of a tree and wondered if he had indeed done the right thing and not told Adriana that he was going. He knew that he had promised her that he would do nothing to hurt her but in leaving he had done exactly the opposite and he had to find some way to fix it. He got to his feet and looked at Thrinta, "There is something that I must do- I will only be gone a short time so ask the division to wait here for me."

"Yes, I will do that mage," Thrinta said before he bowed.

Cristian bowed before he closed his eyes and focused his thoughts on Adriana then said the words to an incantation and vanished it a blue white light.

As soon as he reappeared the first thing that he saw was Adriana sitting there with her back to him crying. At first he thought that he was doing something that would cause more hurt. He took a step towards Adriana, unsure of what to say but he knew that he had to say something.

"Adriana, I know that I have done something wrong and I have done the one thing I have promised not to do but if you will let me explain-"

Before he could finish Adriana turned and looked at him and said, "Explain- explain how you promised me something and then went back on your word."

Cristian was taken aback; he knew that he should never have come back as he was causing more harm than good right now.

Thrinta sent a brief mental mesage to Lokken. Lokken jumped up off his bed, as if he was being electrocuted, and ran out of the tent. His eyes became blood red. A portal opened without him even thinking about it. Fangs began to rip out of his mouth. The 6 ft fangs looked very out of place in a human mouth. Then, one huge wing, then another shot out of his back. His eyes suddenly melded into his forehead, and the vision became much better. The forehead sloped out, until the head turned into a snout. The legs became much shorter. An extra pair of arms suddenly just popped out of his sides. Then all of the arms became as short as the legs. Both legs suddenly reversed their knee joints, and Lokken dropped to the ground. The hair melted into the skin, as scales began to form. A long tail ripped out of his rear. Strange cracks that would have had people screaming in pain for years changed painlessly. Organs moved around with squishes. New organs popped up where none existed. There, stood a small dragon with an extra pair of arms that was colored like flesh. Suddenly, it grew to larger than Titan proporsions. Spikes suddenly sprouted from many places. The color instantly changed to golden, with swirls of black and red. Armor suddenly encased most of the dragon, and a circle melted out of the back of the armor. Inside the circle were four broad slits. A sword appeared in each slit, and Lokken, now a dragon, drew them. He took to the air. First he would search out Thrinta and the demons, then Christian would be taught what a commander could withstand.

Cristian turned his head when he heard the roar and wondered exactly what it was but then he heard another noise and turned to see Adriana standing there, raw emotion flowing over her face. He began to say something but knew that there was nothing he could say to undo what he had done to her.

Adriana

Adriana was about to speak when she also heard the roar. Looking around, confusion replaced the hurt and anger in her face for a moment. Looking back at Cristian, she felt a jolt of pain all over again.

"Never mind," She said, almost in a whisper,"You cannot explain it. I see already in your face that you regret coming back-though I guess I should be flattered that you came back for me."

She took a deep breath and could not hold back the tears any longer. "And deep down I know you did it to protect me but you still broke your promise. You said we could do this together yet you insist on facing it alone. Very well. Go...go and do whatever it is that you feel you must do and I will continue to travel with the army. I shall not keep you and I shall not make you feel obligated to me any more. You are free to do what you must, Cristian-as am I."

"Somehow I will find a way to get to the beast that is tearing apart the land and try to use my 'talent' to defeat him-or die in the attempt. It is my destiny. That is what my father and the elders told me. Therefore, just like you, I go to met that destiny."

Biting her lip before she could say any more, she swept past him and headed again for the camp.

Cristian watched Adriana then raised his hand and chanted the words to an incantation. As soon as he had finished Adriana stopped where she was for she could not move whatsoever. Cristian walked up to her and as soon as he was standing in front of her he said, "I do not regret coming back. I had to tell you why I left but you already know the reason. I left because I wanted to protect you from my death because I never want you to be around to see that. You are my closest friend and I couldn't stand hurting you which is exactly what I have done by leaving."

He took a deep breath, "I know that I broke my promise and there is nothing that I can do to fix that but I am asking you if you can please give me a chance. It is the biggest thing that I can ask of you but I have come to realize that I am nothing without my friends."

He then closed his eyes and thought of his division and saw in his mind that they disappeared from where they were and reappeared back in the camp. Cristian opened his eyes and looked at Adriana before he waved his hand and released the spell that held her.

"Now. If you wish to leave me then do so as I will not stop you."

Lokken let out a loud roar. If a grown Titan warlord was watching Lokken as he roared, even he would have wet himself. This roar meant only one thing: I'm hungry. Lokken had forgot about the Dragon instincts. They kicked in with a powerful jolt. There were 3 feelings: Power, Hunger, And Goldlust. Lokken's dragon form had none of these, so it became enraged. Then, Lokken regained control. Suddenly, he saw from afar, a great shadow dragon, bigger than Lokken's flying towards him. The eyes were black. It suddenly hit Lokken, this was the general that he had killed. It had tooken on the shape of a huge dragon and wanted to fight him. It's huge mass cast a great shadow over the land. Lokken quickly cast a huge portal, and once again, appeared over his main army force. Even the True Black Dragon looked up in astonishment. Even the Spawn of Belial, son of the Dark God, looked up in fear, for it had been many centuries since Lokken had polymorphed into anything. A few feet behind him, came the general. Lokken let his armor dissapear, then let out another roar. The general did likewise. Then, Lokken's claws collided with the general's, and it became a wrestling test. The writhing behemoths cast a huge shadow over the land.

Adriana

Adriana was searching for words when she heard a tremendous crash coming from the camp. Breaking into a run, she saw the sight before her of two tremendous beings wrestling on the ground. Items from the camp going all over everything. Supplies were strewn everywhere and tents were torn down.

Her heart leapt with fear and she wished someone would stop the beasts.

Cristian rushed towards the camp when he heard the noise and raced over to where he saw two large dragons wrestling. He looked at them and raised his hand, saying the words to an incantation but as soon as he finished nothing happened. He looked forward with wide eyes before he turned to Adriana.

"You have to stop them or at least drive them away from here as I have used all of my power to bring my division back here. You alone can do this as I have faith in you but hurry before they destroy this place."

"Fight in the air, dragon!" roared Lokken. He flew up in the air, followed by the general, where the began to slash at each other.

Adriana

Adriana nodded, the fear evident in her eyes. Closing her eyes, she concentrated on the dark dragon. Using everything she had in her, she aimed all her energies into propelling the dragon away from the sky over the camp.

She could feel the build up of power within her and then it was directed at the dark beast. The power to null magic in such a concentrated form hit the beast and it screamed in agony. Adriana cringed at the sound but continued to hit it with everything she had.

She heard more than felt it break away from the red dragon and fly off as the last of her energies blasted into it. Along with her energies went her strength and she collapsed to the ground, breathing hard and trying to keep conciousness about her.

Lokken was the first down. He was the first to her side. For he had, in the short time they had talked, befriended her. He had become human again, and now he took a quick look at her. "Healers!" he shouted loudly. A few healers ran forward, and examined her. "Energy drain", said one to Lokken. "Get her a bed, idiots!" he retorted.

Cristian stood there, unable to do or say anything because Lokken's healers had taken Adriana away so fast. He turned to walk away and find a spot where he could meditate and regain his strength and powers but before he could he heard Lokken shout out, "Not so fast mage. We have things to discuss but not now for I have to see to Adriana. To see that she is alright."

"Good- she needs a friend such as yourself for I can't be what she wants."

Without another word Lokken turned and walked away quickly, leaving Cristian to find a tree and sit under it to meditate.

Adriana

Adriana had a hard time focusing on what was going on around her. The first face she saw was Lokken and she wanted desperately to ask where Cristian was but she was too exahusted to form the words.

She felt rather than saw people come and take her away. The light dimmed and she assumed she was in a tent somewhere. She felt the softness of a bed underneath her and she heard murmurs of voices around her. She couldnt focus and she couldnt understand what they said.

Trying to lift her head was impossible as it felt as if it was weighed down. Dropping her head back in defeat, she closed her eyes and let the darkness take her.

Lokken saw Adrianna fall asleep, and he sighed in relief. He contacted Thrinta. "Do not move. Do not let the army move, understood?" he said angrily. He walked outside and walked to Christian. "You bastard!" he bellowed in disgust. "Do you know that you did this?" he asked angrily. "You took my demons. I had to transform into a dragon to keep them from running. The general came after me. I came back here. Adrianna sent all of her power into the dragon. She is now sleeping, thank god. And you have hurt her emotianally. You told her you would always be there. You said she could always turn to you. But you were too much of a coward to keep that promise. You ran away!" he shouted, his eyes blazing. The soldiers warily moved away from them.

Cristian looked up at Lokken before he got to his feet. He looked Lokken straight in the face and said, "I am no coward and I will never allow someone to tell me that I am. I left because I didn't want to risk Adriana's life when I died. But I should never have taken the demons and when I am back to strength give the leadership of them to someone else because I don't want it anymore!"

He moved closer, his anger slowly feeding his power which was now causing down his arms. He glared at Lokken and said, "I left her here because she needs a friend better than I and I was hoping that you would be that friend and I see that I was right as by your display right now. And Adriana sent her power at the general because I asked her to which is the stupidiest thing that I have done and all that you can do right now is stand here and argue with me! You are a fool Lokken and I don't care if you destroy me right now because of it because I know that I am going to die."

Cristian took a step back but before he could Lokken put a hand onto his shoulder and Cristian looked at him, "I will ask you this once- please take your hand off my shoulder and let me go or I will give you cause to destroy me."

Lokken gave him one last look and took his hand away. "Be gone by morning", he said, turning on his heel. "Thrinta, get your demons through that portal before it closes", he sighed mentally. He walked into the tent where Adrianna was. After a few minutes, Thrinta walked into the tent.

Adrianna

Adrianna fought against the darkness with all her might. She had to waken and find Cristian...she just had to. Her mind raced and she dreamed of dragons and demons who were going against each other and she was caught in the middle.

She woke with a start, her dark eyes flying open and looking around in fear. Her heart was beating fast and she couldnt get her breath until her gazed fell on Lokken and she realized where she was. Her head dropped back onto the bed and she was able to breath a little easier. Without opening her eyes, she said weakly,"Cristen...where is Cristian? I...I have to apologize to him."

Cristian turned and walked away from the camp, taking one last look back. He was not wanted here and he knew it so he picked up his pack and new staff and thought of a teleport spell and disappeared as if he had never been there at all.

As soon as he reappeared he knew that he had work to do and even if it meant that he would be killed because of it then he would do so. He put his pack down and pulled out the sword, thought of a portal spell and threw it with all his might as he didn't want anything that reminded him of his life at the camp with him.

He then turned and walked away down the road, his pack on his back and his staff in his hand. He then stopped and ran his hand over his face, changing his outwards appearance so that nobody would know who he was.

As he walked down the road he wondered what was going to happen to everyone now that he was no longer there but shut those thoughts out of his head as he was no longer needed there by anyone.
