Monks, there are these three elements of escape. What three?

This escape from lusts which is renunciation; this escape from forms which is the formless existence; and this escape from whatsoever has become, is compounded, has arisen by the law of causation, which is making to cease. These are the three elements of escape.

The ultimate goal of farming is not the growing of crops, but the cultivation and perfection of human beings.

Life is a Lie (with enchanting anguish)

By: Sergei Yesenin

Life is a lie with enchanting anguish,
And that's what makes it so powerful:
With its crude hand it writes
Lethal letters.

Every time I close my eyes, I say,
"As soon as the heart is disturbed,
Life is a lie, but even life, sometimes,
Garnishes its deception with pleasures.

Turn your face to the gray-haired sky,
Try to read your fate in the moon;
Calm yourself, mortal, and don't demand
The truth you can't use."

How good it feels, in the blizzard of cherry blossoms,
To think that life is a road.
Let frivolous darlings lie.
Let frivolous friends betray.

Whether a tender word touches me
Or a tongue cuts sharper than a razorblade,
I'm ready for anything,
Ruthlessly used to it all.

I feel a chill from these heights.
The fire of stars carries no heat.
Those I loved have denied me.
Those I lived for have forgotten me.

Even so, repressed and persecuted,
I greet the dawn with a smile
On this earth, so close and so beloved,

And thank life for everything.

Have you ever wondered if the jeenyuseses who own-n-run Lit have a plan?

Perhaps, like Stalin, a Five-Year Plan???

I bet they do.

I bet it is a crayon drawing of a monkey failing miserably at trying to fuck a coconut . . . .

Judging by the way they apply the rules I'm going with the "Magic Eight Ball" management system.

In the spirit of giving thanks and in passing along Allah's bounty to those who come after, Wat is taking a prezzie to his nephew at the family gathering.

I know, this disrupts the narrative that Wat was hatched, but whatever.

The young'un will be the proud recipient of a SVT-40.

He will know what to do with it.

I always knew you were a softie.

No nephews, or other relatives, are getting moar guns from me this year.

Imagine the bounty that will be Junior's when Wat moves along to the next dimension.

Of course, no living Little libturd will be around to see it

I'm giving my relatives a rowboat and a magnet. They can go fishing for my guns if they want 'em. Otherwise, they're outta luck.

I imagine that a boat and a small engine will be in my near future. The lake is too close, the boat landing is not far away, and the kids will want to fish, I fear.

They are on their own for scuba gear.

I found a sexy mid 20s top of the line Chrysler….

I have a neighbor who is into early American cars. Phaetons, coupes, sedans, he's cycled a bunch of them through his driveway.

I'm more the type who wants something different. I'd love to have a frame swapped Loadstar or C600. Most of the ones I see use a turbo Cummins but I'd use a GM/Detroit 6.2 and 2 gearboxes. No firewall mod required and with twin sticks it'll pull the center of the earth out of a mudhole.

For a car, I want a Rolls or Bentley as my Sunday-going-to-Church ride. For a classic car I know where there's a Rolls Corniche coupe hardtop that needs a total rebuild. They only made like 1300 of them in their entire production line so the hardtops are very very rare. No one wants them because they'd rather have the drophead, but those are almost a dime/dozen. I want rare and different. The big problem with the Roller is that it would take a mint and a couple of decades to rebuild and I'm not interested in that anymore.

If I was thinking about getting a new hobby, I'd buy a bunch of milling machinery and make me one of these:

I'd figure out how to put a 3-point hitch on it and a power takeoff and use it to cut the lawn.

Or maybe I'd make one of these:

Life is not lost by dying; life is lost by minute, day by day, in all the thousands, small, uncaring ways.

Collecting quotations is an insidious, even embarrassing habit, like ragpicking or hoarding rocks or trying on other people's laundry. I got into it originally while trying to break an addiction to candy. I kicked candy and now seem to be stuck with quotations, which are attacking my brain instead of my teeth.

You know, I have so many fucking ideas of things to do and ways to do it/them. Steam is one big curiosity. But I have a lot of flatheads to massage, too.

Clubs are everywhere and many of them have days (usually a Sunday) where the public can ride the trains, often for free. Search for: Live Steam Clubs near me.

Greater L.A. area has 3 clubs. L.A. Live Steamers, Riverside Live Steamers, and Orange Live Steamers. There's a couple more in the Bay area and 1 in Sacatomatoes.

Phoenix has 2; Maricopa Live Steamers and Scottsdale Live Steamers.

Houston has 1 but I don't remember the name off the top of my head.

There are many many MANY more spread out everywhere in the country.

Just remember; it's a model railroad, not an amusement ride.

I have a couple more things I fantasize about doing. One is building a biplane from scratch. You can get plans for several different makes/models.

I'd even build the radial engine for it instead of buying one, 7 cylinders. I'd buy the prop though.

Having to get a license to fly it sucks. Having to register it sucks more. Whyinahell does the gubmint need to know what I own and what I do with it, and then forces me to get permission to play with it?

The other'n is top secret project so you get nada about it other than it'll fly too after it's built and I drew the plans for it myself.
