Hi there. I just added some music files to my music file DVD, the burning was successful, but when I look at the disk the files aren't there. So I go back into the burning program (Nero) to check what went wrong but there they are, just where I'd put them. I can even play them, but only through Nero. If I just look at the disk the files aren't there. How the hell can that be?

Can ya help?

Ta.

I use NERO too and have the same problems. I have not figured out exactly what the problem is. I found that sometimes it helps to take the disc out and put it back in and sometimes it then shows the files after all.

Do you hear a spinning sound when you put the disc in, as if it's trying to find a certain point but keeps turning because it doesn't? I do when the files won't show. That's why I have concluded that NERO sometimes has errors/faults with writing the borders that are neccesary for finding the start and end-point of the disc.

This, however, is purely computerdummy-logica and I will have to investigate further. Because I have not figured out if it happens with one brand disc and not the other, for instance.

Maybe Weird Harold can comment on this?

I just rememberd the last time a friend was over here he mentioned creating a virtual copy of a disk, saved as a file and not actually burned. I've looked around the program but can't find an option to enable or disable that. Would anyone know more about that?

According to my much smarter kids, Blindwrite or Alcohol can create an iso disk image and another program such as Daemon tools to mount it...but that doesn't mean alot to me.

Some players require a closed session disc in order to read the disc.

Yeah, it either sounds like the session didn't get closed, so nothing will read it except Nero since it opened the session....or it didn't burn squat and just started creating an image to burn later.

Alcohol is used to mount an image of a CD or DVD, when its really just a file copy of the CD/DVD. You mount it like its a real drive (i usually call my mounted drive Z:\) and then you can 'play' the disc image normally.

Nero is famous for working for a while and then for some reason it just stops "closing" off the burning sessions. And nero for some reason does not allow to manually close the burn. Alcohol 120% is a very good music burning program and for dvd's i usually use dvd santa, it seems to burn everything.
