wenchie is under lock down

lace and ribbon and trim doesn't count as fabric right? *puppy eyes*

I have this really cool idea for a chimese but I need some lace to be able to do it.

Of course not. That is support stock. Just be reasonable. If you buy enough lace, ribbon, and trim to make the chemise out of it, you've gone toooo far.

*giggles*

6 yards of lace

and the 3 yards of velvet I needed, plus a 1/4 because that's what was left on the bolt.

Just HADDDDDDDD to buy the 1/4 yard left on the bolt so wouldn't go to waste, didn't you? ~lol~ :p

Well yes, it would be a shame to make the poor lady try to cut off that last 1/4 yard. And besides I can make gypsy skirts out of the remnits so that little bit doesn't count.

Here's the thing.....I CAN'T STOP BUYING FABRIC! Any one who has been to my apt has seen the 3 large totes, one huge box, and one med tote that's over flowing, not to mention the basket and tote by my sewing table and they are all full of fabric. I don't need any more, I have tons of projects I can work on, I need to start using this stuff insted of collecting it.

So for the next month I am putting myself on restriction! No buying fabric unless I get a special order, or run out of lining. If I can make it thru the month then I should be toned down a lot...and really it's like 6 weeks cause I'm starting today and setting my end date for halloween.

I'll be reporting here, so swats, scolding, and encouragement are all welcome. And if I start getting cranky from with drawls I appologize now.

Just remembering what you said to do, and since i dont' do the swats (prefers to receive them) had to teasingly scold. :D :p

That 1/4 yard would have been lonely on the bolt. Poor lonely fabric.

Actually it would have gone in the remnit box and been sold for a quarter and then I would have felt really bad because it would have been sold to me. At least with it still attached it makes me feel like I tacked on that last bit for the costume I came in to buy for.

So when does lock down end? I'm to lazy to read through the rest of the thread for an answer. :D

You did the right thing. Just keep telling yourself that when you're 92 years old and even the Cat Ladies look at you like your zany for your fabric collection filling up every room in the house =P

Hey at least my fabric doesn't shed! :p

okay, so the faux fur does, but I don't keep a lot of that around.

and it doesn't poop for sure.

If you had pooping fabric, I would be SO worried.

Stay firm!

Tell yourself it's not about fabric sales (so early in the morning - blech!) but spaghetti, and cannoli! Yum!

That's the ticket!

You are doing good!

Hold firm!

Turn your credit card over to someone you trust, put any excess money into the "saving up for more 'toys' account", and throw the car keys deep into the biggest stash of materials you have; and leave them there on that day. ;)

no cc so no worries there. I don't tend to carry cash. So it's just the check book and check card that I need to worry about.

I like the hide my car keys idea, except that patterns are on sale too. so I need to buy them up while I can get them for $1 insted of $8-$15 so i have to venture into the store.

But I have a plan

I'm spending today and tomarrow going thru my patterns and shoping the online catalogs so I can make a list of the patterns I need. Stick to the list and get my butt out of there!

You can actually go to online sewing and craft websites and find patterns, and don't go anywhere near the store/mall/hell! ;)

yeah, but they have fabric too! *giggles*

besides, I think it's better for me to get out there and face my temptation rather than to hide from it. :)

Patterns are not fabric or material. They're more akin to tools.

(This has nothing to do with the fact that they're on sale for a buck each, and I'm too cheap to pass up that sort of thing =P )

See that's me.

unless I have a specific order, I only buy patterns on sale. And they go on sale about once a month or so, but certain ones only go on sale so often.

I usually recrute my mom and a friend or two to buy some with me since there is a limit on how many you can buy. But I think I pretty much have all most of them, in at least one size. Now I'm working on replacing well used ones, gaining sizes I don't normally buy, and buying the new styles.

And since the majority of the money I will be spending will be from ebay sales, it's all revolving so it's all good. :)

the trick is buying the patterns and not a ton of fabric while I'm out there! My home dec fabric remnits that I use to make bodices out of is on sale too! half price

Now, that's just not fair. You threw that in on purpose.

Ladies, nothing is hotter than a proper bodice. Period. Wenchie knows this.
