I read a lot of great stories right here on lit. I just finish one I couldn't put down. The entire series was beautifully written. Its kind of a sci-fi type of drama with love as well. Here's the link if anyone is interested.

Also Hamnet was a beautiful read. Shakespeare not at the forefront of this much, it's the loss of his son seen through his wife's eyes, who by the way is one of the best characters I've encountered. And O'Farrell writes about grief perfectly.

Next up Eowyn Ivey's Black Woods, Blue Sky. It might be a hat trick of literary gorgeousness.
