What Are You Listening to Now 7.0

Blues on vinyl

I'm still unpacking from a big move, including my old stereo receiver and turntable, for which I have several hundred vinyl records, some of which I describe in one of my stories, which begins when I document an IRL encounter I had towards the end of an estate sale, where the beautiful young agent in the biblipophile estate owner's bookstore handed me the key to the owner's house around the corner, the contents of which had not previously been included in the estate sale. She told me to take whatever I wanted -- it was all free -- an extraordinary act of generosity. I'd enjoyed talking with her very much, and perhaps the same had been true for her. I got several boxes of rare books and about 100 mostly classical albums the estate owner had collected over his long lifetime. Probably a once in a lifetime opportunity. Perhaps I should have taken a lot more, but at least this way sellers of rare books would have had the chance to distribute them to a discerning audience, and probably make a substantial profit doing so.

The turntable was glitchy last week so I left final setup for later, and a few minutes ago I took another shot and got it working. The first album that came to hand, that I hadn't listened to for a decade, was this one (CD rip version):

It''s far from being my favorite album, but it's been awhile and it's great to be hearing it again. I should probably listen to every one of the records I got from that estate sale once I get settled and start to have time again. Except the bound albums of 78s, of course, as my turntable can't play those. Maybe it'll help inspire more stories.

Cracker

They had their time back in the day, but Dave isn't giving up, and made a record that I think is half remarkable -- my opinion: the first half is forgettable rock-ish and the second half is really pritdam wonderful country. Here's one song from that second side:

Play it weird, Guitar Johnny.

Here's that album, starting from the first song of the second side. The first side is easily accessible from the playlist, if you're into that:

You ask me to enter but then you make me crawl
And I can't be holdin' on to what you got
When all you got is hurt

Mostly lately I've been listening to videos I've posted here before, especially those where @Alitaptap and I swapped crazy-ass wonderful artist vids about two years ago. Then more Metric, like these from their Synthetica (Deluxe) album:
(don't trust the displayed lyrics)
live version (wonderful in a different way; what's up with James' guitar work? Who does that?! GD excellent.)

(the studio version superimposed on live footage)
live acoustic version

Then I started listening to old Jethro Tull. Specifically their Stormwatch album, which is not among their most renowned but has special meaning to me.

Then, this:

And this (also again), first of many Tangerine Dream covers for me:
