What Are You Listening to Now 7.0

March is book ended by the releases I am most looking forward to with Flower Kings and Marillion this Friday and Kaprekar's Constant and Animals as Leaders on the twenty-fifth. So far a good year for music.

Melted Bodies : Enjoy Yourself

Strange, challenging stuff - restless, sometimes frantic, energy-sapping! :D

Definitely worth a listen.
Holy crap - I feel like the guy getting blasted in the chair by RCA. What a crazy ride; I want to check out more by Melted Bodies

The Zealot Gene

Jethro Tull

I need to hear this - I've been told it isn't as bad as his other releases in the past several years - which I thought were awful. (Thick As Brick II was just ... sad :( ).

I hope this is as good as I've been told...

LOL - yes, it's quite a blast! :D

I plan to listen to it again tomorrow morning. The buzz will make me as productive as hell during my work-day LOL

I agree his later stuff isn't up to snuff but Zealot Gene is really good; very much like classic Tull.

Enjoy!

Jethro Tull : The Zealot Gene

It's Litfan's fault! :D

Good, I agree. Sounds to me like classic Tull on Valium.

Sirius XM new wave station, good Lord does this take me back. So many songs my left hand just starts running bass lines....

Told ya!

so what's your take on Star One?
The jury is still out. I've spun it (IIRC) 3 times, and it needs another spin or 2.

No question that as you and Blind Justice pointed out, the performances are excellent - and I've always liked Arjen's guitar work. But for me (so far, anyway) - the songwriting seems kinda linear, and nothing jumped out and "grabbed" me.

That said -- I'm probably being a bit unfair because for my previous listens it was in the background, while I've been working...

Sola Gratia

Neal Morse

you know you're listening to heavy prog when the album starts with a preface followed by an overture.

Marillion - An Hour Before It's Dark

I need to get to grips with Hogarth's shot voice sooner or later, so why not use the new record as an excuse to do so? What I've heard so far I like. Very lush production and surprisingly hopeful vibes.

An Hour Before It's Dark

Marillion

Ooooo, this is a beautiful album. Blind_Justice is right, lush.

Now I would have figured you'd listen to the new Sabaton first today....
