Sexting, mmm no, but there are definitely skillful writers who make good use of a short prompt and an eager reader. Sooooo skilled I’ve been tricked into what can only be described as freeplay roleplaying

It always starts fine. Hot. Then I feel like I'm repeating myself. Realize I have nothing to really say/add. Worry that I'm too focused on the text to masturbate (if that was an option). Worry that I'm too unfocused on the text to get her masturbating. Kind of just want it to be over as it gets awkward and finally lose interest because now it's uncomfortable.

I feel Its depending on whether there's a connection or not. But I don't beat myself up about it. It's difficult to know what people are looking for sometimes, so you just have to give it a try.

That said - its been a couple of years since I fooled around so I suspect I'll be rusty

I mean, I tend to think our connection is right to do just about anything.

But yes I agree, some writers just do it well. Free form roleplaying really can be fun too.

I reckon that I see sexting as a precursor to other activities, like a phone call, a video chat, or best of all an in person encounter.

Sexting to me is a tease, a promise, a titillation that is different than the conversational tone of regular text messaging.

Maybe I am wrong . Maybe I suck at sexting but do not know it...

I have never done that. Though out of the Twelve-ish or so serious relationships I have ever been in the only two I've ever ended both involved going back to my First. All the rest, they ended.

One of the people was my boss, who has been out of work sick and did not answer his phone and has had a full voicemail box for half a decade.

The other is a person who has been slipping away for probably the last 12 months.

Side note: I lost both my folks in 2020. It gets easier , but grief will come and kick your butt unexpectedly at the best of times.

Great sexting requires a degree of intelligence (enough to put words and thoughts together for the sake of clarity), an ability to listen (which is often in short supply), empathy, and a mutuality of interests to satisfy a happy ending for both parties.
