I don't know the magnitude or specifics of your plight, but perhaps these words might give some solace. I don't think it's saying “fuck it.” It might be more like saying “I love you & trust you.” Again, not knowing the situation… I do not know if it will help, but your post moved me to respond.*feeling defeated and heartbroken*
How is a parent suppose to sit back and 'let' their child pave a course of destruction for their own life? How can a mom sit and watch their child continually make bad decisions, even knowing the dire consequences of their choices?
It is literally heartbreaking to see this, especially with the child still living at home. Especially when the parent knows what type of person this child truly is when they are 'behaving' - when they aren't fucking up.
Chance after chance after chance has been given to them. And yet, they continue to piss it away. They continue to choose a path of wrong that will only result in a life away from parents, family and friends.
How does a parent just sit back and say, "Fuck it, it's your life"
On Children
by Kahlil Gibran
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts.
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable.
