Shadowann, this is a perfect example of what the other boards expect from GB... it's the kind of thing that gets dragged into other boards most often. Nobody says "Come read this heartwarming and joyful thread from the GB!"

I see your point, but but it isn't fair to judge EVERYONE on the entire board as being a certain way. I believe that the GB was created to keep the other boards from being inundated with political and hot-button subjects. There are heartwarming and joyful threads on the GB, but no one brings them to other boards because they figure, why would you guys care? You have plenty of those on your own board! It reminds me of the friends I have who only talk about their SO to bitch about them. Sure, their SO does some great things, but they never talk about that; just the bad stuff. Just because all you hear is bad, doesn't mean that the whole thing, and everyone who goes there is bad.

I see this expressed quite often, and I always wonder; What makes people who have experienced bigotry so much more holy than anyone else? Why should they not have their own prejudices and preferences and express them?

And most especially, why do majority types-- this is not you, shadowann, I know you are bi-- why oh why do they expect to be received with gratitude friendship and trust just because they show up in a minority space?

I would rather deal with an obvious bigot like busybody, than have some mealymouthed quasi-ally get all butthurt because I am not nice enough for her tender sensibilities.
