What do you like?

I like listening to public radio on Sunday mornings, specifically "This American Life," "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me" and, though I am far far far from its core demographic in terms of geography, culture and hue, "A Prairie Home Companion."

I like listening to Prairie, from time to time...

I like when my wife doesn't spend all of our money on payday weekend...

I like the rocking blues of Stevie Ray Vaughn. Thanks for the memories your screen name brought.

I like accompanying my girlfriend when she's shopping for clothes. I sit outside the dressing rooms with a book and/or my laptop and she comes out and shows each of the dozens of outfits she'll typically try on. The look of delight on her face as she does this is really quite something. Then, when she finally decides on a few things, she takes them up to the counter. Usually, she will have selected one or two more things than she originally budgeted for. At that point, I whip out my well worn AE card and she screams with delight, throwing her arms around me.

Note: I said "girlfriend" and not wife. :D

Well worn, huh? Sounds like it is, if not regular, then at least occasional...

I noticed that. Has she hinted yet?

The credit cards are more more well worn by my daughter than by my girlfriend. It's not in the same league. Hell, it's not even the same game. There aren't going to be any semesters abroad for my girlfriend... not on my dime in any event.

Hinted? At marriage? Been there, done that. Besides which, she's considerably younger than me. And, while it could be argued that I'm a little eccentric, I'm not that F-ing crazy.

My girl is almost 11, but I can see that trait beginning to surface.

Gotcha. I'm on my first, and wondering why I was crazy enough for it...:D

I got married, whilst still under 20, in the Army (that's quite common in the military.) So, while I am not yet 40, my one and only kid ever is a junior in college. That, of course, leaves me free to begin my second childhood early.

My second childhood starts in 7 years, 3 months, and some odd days, unless it hits me earlier...

We married early, but my daughter wasn't born till I was 29. I'm 40 now, too.

I like thinking about 2nd childhood. Looking forward to playing again...

I like gifts from the heart, not the pocketbook, or wallet.

I like traveling, but I also like, and am proud, of the country I live in.

I like that I am a friend of many, enemy of few.

I like knowing that my very own dream come true, can come true.

In point of fact: I am 38. My daughter graduated from high school early.
This is something that you might want to think about when your daughter is in high school. If she takes enough A.P. courses, she can accumulate enough college credit (whilst still in high school, of course) to skip more than a year of undergrad. There was a girl from around here a few years back who started college as a senior.

Edit: I think that an A.P. exam (which can net your kid 4 or more college credit hours) is something like $35.
Compare that with $1200 for 4 credit hours, fees and books not included, at even a state school.

Some great likes there, K!

I like to think that I never met a stranger, and I leave friends in my wake.

To repeat: I like Louise's new AV! Simply delectable!

Well who doesn't like that new av. ;)

I like reading a book recommended by my love, and learning about all sorts of things that make his heart happy within that book.

Cool, you've already got the early stuff behind you.

We're planning on her working toward AP classes. She's already accelerated, medium to strong, and making strides.

A senior? Wow! That was a load off the parents...

I like reading an ebook sent to me by my love. It, and she, are rascals!

I like when Penelope Cruz speaks Spanish in movies. In English, she's nothing special. When she's acting in Spanish, she is luminous. See Volver.

I like reading the blogs of people I know.

I like fresh pineapple.

I like the way I feel after a good long cardio workout.

Yes, she is. Such a beautiful language, flowing from those lovely lips...

We used to eat pineapple sandwiches when I was young.

I like the sweet ache in my legs after walking...

I like coming back here and "listening" to all the likeable things.
