Ok I was trying to think of a thread I have not seen yet in here and this came to mind..What is your religion are you a church goer are you a pagan do you walk on left hand path or do you think it is al nonsense..I am not a big believer myself and i do not believe what the bible tells me to be truth it is more myths and lies in my opinion only...So am I an athiest no I belive in something just not what has been writtin..I believe in a higher power a greater force but just not what has been force feed to me all these years..:)

religion

I am a Christian. Church of Christ. Very strict upbringing. At this time I do not attend services often, due to the fact that I work all night every weekend. However I do believe in the Bible and what it teaches. That is what I believe. But we all have to search and find what we do and do not believe in. That is one of things that makes this country so great. We are not forced to believe a certain way just because that is the way the heads of power say so.

I'm a recovering catholic.

I've learnt to think for myself over the years and feel that a lot of what I was taught as a child is obsolete and out of date.

The Bible I think is a product of its times, and has probably suffered while being translated. But it is still a holy document to me.

I believe in a higher power whom I call God. I also believe in the next life, and look forward to it.

I pray daily, I am a christian and I gain a lot of strength from that.

Me and my God get on really well.

He knows that I appreciate him, and that I have no intention of putting on my best clothes and spending an hour every sunday singing songs and praising him.

I was brought up in a Methodist family, but taught to think and have a considered opinion from an early age. I soon considered that Church was unnecessary. So I stopped going.

Of course, when I finally die, I may regret my lack of "true belief". but I think not.

Guess I'll wait and see

I have my own beliefs. I was raised in the Church but always found it to be more of a social event than a place to go and learn about "God's word." Or a place where you'd go and give half your earnings away so that the preacher could drive around in a new car and wear taylored suits. I've read the Bible and find it to be way too contradicting to be taken seriously. I do believe in God and in Heaven but not in Hell or the Devil. I think that Hell is Earth and if you can make it your whole life without killing those people who annoy you or piss you off then you earned a place in Heaven:)

I was born and raised in a Prothestant Christain home, but never quite felt "right" about it.

About 10 years ago I was introduced to the Wiccan path. Something about it just clicked. I knew it was right... Or at least it was right for me. I've been a dedicated practitioner ever since.

I personally don't believe that there is one true path for everyone and I don't believe I have the right to condemn others for their spiritual beliefs, nor does anyone have the right to condemn me for mine. Some of the greatest wars were fought in the name of "religion", mostly because people fear something they don't even understand... Education over ignorance, I always say. :)

I believe everyone has to find their own way to Diety.

well, in simple words, I am a Satanist. However, that usually results in flames, and just uneedy crap thrown at me, so I shall elaborate a bit.

Satanist... not devil-worshiper. I don't believe in the christian ideal of satan, or of god for that matter. I am my own god, I make the choices that affect my life, and thus take responsibility for them. Though for simplicity's sake, I could classify myself as LaVeyan, I don't completely subscribe to the ideals of The Church of Satan. Not to mention LaVey's work, though great compilations are in my opinion, just that... a compilation of thoughts, of others gone before him.

Yeah well, that pretty much does it. Always open to answer a few meaningful questions, as I'm sure the others are here about their respective religions... :D

And I worried that I'd get flamed for my personal beliefs!?! LOL! Cudos to you FD for being brave enough to share your beliefs with us. ;) (As I said, I believe we all need to find our own way to Diety.)

But... I don't quite understand your religion or what it is all about. It doesn't sound like you follow the traditional Satanist path. If you believe yourself to be a Satanist, yet you consider yourself your own God (Which is a very interesting concept, I might add..) then who or what exactly is Satan to you? Why would you call yourself a Satanist?

Just curious....

I was.........

brought up Baptist but I practice Catholic...I bring my children up Catholic... I believe in a higher power and I will come back some day... I believe you all have to answer to yourselves and that higher power just guides us...I don't judge anyone else's believes and I try to understand them...sometimes that doesn't work...

thank you mystic, and first off, i can't see why you would be flamed for being Wiccan... (well, closed minds.... but still) incidently I have studied quite a bit about Wicca, and in fact practiced for several years.

A traditional 'satanist' as you are referring would be known as a 'devil worshiper'. The christian 'satan' has absolutly no meaning to me besides a character in a book. The idea of being a 'Satanist' comes from the rejection of mainstream christianity. SORT OF anti-christian. Where as a christian person might believe that a certain set of morals, and values are wrong, I would perhaps believe that those same set of rules(if you will) are in fact the great joys in life. Lust, greed, self love, these things are not bad to me.

ack! that's good enough heh... don't want to make this post too long after all... thanks for the questions doll... just hope i didn't make things more confusing.

edited cause it was just too damn long...

Islam...I'm a Muslim...I'm not very active...I wouldn't call myself non-practicing because I appreciate the role Allah plays in my life so much...but I don't go to the Mosque at all...and my lifestyle isn't really Islamic either...I haven't given up becoming a more active Muslim...but I don't want to now...

I go to the Old Regular Baptist Churches..I was brought up going to them but as I have grown older, I have quit going as much. I do go one weekend a month and that is out of respect to my dad who is a member of the church. They have some strict beliefs and some of them I do not go along with...

I was here earlier before you edited your post. Glad I seen it before you got rid of it. It was very interesting.

Believe me, Wiccans still get flamed for their beliefs... In most cases, it's by an uneducated person, we are called "Devil worshipers". (Which is funny, seeing as Wiccans don't even believe in a Devil.) I used to try and defend myself, but usually it didn't work... Closed minds have no room for knowledge. Now I just simply say "You have a right to your beliefs, as I have a right to mine." and leave it at that, unless they have questions, which I'm always more than willing to try and answer.

If you get a chance, could you PM me what you edited out of your above post? I would like the chance to read it over again. (Religion and spritual beliefs of all kinds have always been a great interest of mine.) :)

Thanks for answering my questions sweetie... *hug*

Basic Christian

Basic christianity is my belief. I treat others as I want to be treated and I try to live the best that I can. My feelings towards Him are between us and I make no judgement of anyone else or their beliefs.

I was born and brought up Jewish.......

Interesting situation for me because my mom was born
Catholic but converted to Judiasm before marrying my
dad (who is Jewish, of course).......she wasn't a strong
Catholic herself to begin with, though her own mother
is a devout.

I had to go to Hebrew School 1-3 times a week (depending
on what grade I was in), then Merkaz (Hebrew high school)
once a week. That was an expectation of my father, and
esp. my grandmother (my dad's mom.......who was brought
up Orthodox Jewish when she was way younger). We are
in the Conservative jewish sect, which is in between Orthodox
and Reform (which is the most liberal).

I had my Bat Mitzvah at age 13.....a day that I will never forget.......

I don't go to synagogue for Sabbath services unless its for
something special, the only time I've gone to services recently
is for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. The funny thing about
Yom Kippur is that one has to fast for the whole day until
sundown.......but the past few years I can't fast the whole
day....I "fast" from the time I finish dinner the night before until
late afternoon the following day......(oh, the Jewish Sabbath
starts Friday nite and ends Saturday nite)

I do observe the holidays, such as Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur,
Hanukkah, and Passover.........however, because of my mom,
we do have a tree in addition to the menorah....and while we
celebrate passover, we also get easter baskets too :) Granted,
I do realize that Christmas and Easter are religious holidays for
others, but for me, I feel that Christmas is a universal holiday, and
that tree itself represents life.

I am not super duper observant of Judiasm though I am linked to
it strongly, esp. through my father's side of the family.

I am pagan. I was raised roman catholic. Watched my mom struggle through being borne again and finally becoming a preachers wife.

Thank you all for posting on my thread it has been interesting to see all the diferrent religions you all have but one thing we all have in common is the need for sex and Lit..I hope what ever god you worship blesses you and lets you have a great day...I hope to see some more discussions on this thread...

I am a Buddhist. Tibetan variety like the Dalai Lama. I even have a protection cord blessed by him. In my pictures you can see all the protection cords I have, from many high Lamas. I was in Nepal and India in October/November last year on pilgrimage, spending some time under the Bodhi tree where Buddha reached enlightenment. We trekked up sacred moutains in the Himalayas, slept in sacred caves, life changing experiences.

Spent a week here in Kathmandu, circumambulating the Great Stupa (Buddhist shrine)

I have a Lama from Tibet and we practice every day. The movie "The Cup" is about Tibetan Buddhist monks trying to rent a T.V. to watch the soccer series and shows a bit of the culture and religion. "Kundan" also is an excellent film if anyone is interested (about finding the Dalai Lama).

beliefs

I was raised as a Lutheran, but god knows I never believed. We would fight in the car all the way to church and all the way home, and my father never came with us. When I was a teenager, I learned that babysitting late on Sat. earned an exemption out of church on Sunday, worked for me.

There are days when I believe that something somewhere has a plan and that perhaps things happen for a reason. But this really falls apart for me when I see a kid with cancer, or a kid suffering a horrible death, that's no plan.

It's comforting to think that we will continue on after we die, and that those people who were bad in this life will 'get what they deserve' while those who were good will earn eternal life or reach a higher level of consciousness. But, I also have those days when I think that I should be living life to the fullest, and be happy here and now because this may be all that we have, and what would be so bad about that if we lived our lives for ourselves, appreciated the people around us and the good things that happen when people come together. There are miracles in the world around us, and if we open our eyes and take the time to notice them and enjoy the time we have maybe that's what heaven is.

I am Wiccan. I was born into a family where my mom was a Jehovah Witness and my dad was baptist. My mother later became a Pent. Holiness. I couldn't follow their lead. I had to find something that fit me and what my few beliefs were. Wicca is the path I decided on.

Spiritual yes religious No

I believe in the great spirit i feel we are each just a cell in the body universe connected in ways most will never understand,
individual yet connected, I know that my body is not what makes me, Its the electrical spark my spirit that makes me up not this carbon based body, Electricity does not die it changes form circle of life kinda thing, In my opinion religious people do not have faith, They constantly are trying to convince them selfs that they believe always looking searching using the bible to prove what they supposedly believe. Also are the most judgmental folks i ever had the displeasure of dealing with. The thing is my faith what i believe was not taught to me Iv'e always known. I feel organized religion is good for some people, I just choose to walk my on path

I am a white wiccan, who practices also Native american rituals within wicca. I went to Catholic School for 12 years and still believe in some of the things I was taught there. I feel that I can find something to relate to in almost every religion but found Wicca was the Path for me.

Blessed Be,
A
