Just got a clearer idea of the damage
They basically cleaned out his checking account, which isn't great. But didn't get to his savings or retirement accounts, which would have been catastrophic. So it could've been worse. And the checking is insured against fraud, but his accounts will be frozen for a while while the bank works through everything.
