What made you smile or laugh today? Part IV

Woooosh

gross, it’s quoting me

Edit: Thanks, Gracie, I’m having less really bad days which has lifted my spirits a little. My comment above wasn’t towards you.

Despite every day being a spin on the symptoms prize wheel, I’m determined to find something happy. A new protein shampoo made my hair feel so soft today. I have pretty red nails because I could do them on a good day. It’s Fall!*

*still hot as balls but I can play pretend for a bit.

Pretty red nails! Pics please. :)

The work week is over! Tomorrow's an R&R day and we get to do basically what we want.

The first plan was to go mushroom hunting, but the weather is gross, so I'm going to an escape room with a few of my coworkers and then wine and sauna at the workplace. Probably gonna solve some linguistics olympiad puzzles with a language nerd colleague and write in hieroglyphs, too. She was an Egyptologist in her previous career. No work talk allowed. :cattail:

You have saunas in the workplace?

How does that work, take a long break for a sauna?

The escape room sounds fun. We have a couple here.

Do you consider hieroglyphics one of the many languages you have notched on your belt?

This sounds a bit like you reaching out. Friends!

It sounds like a pretty good weekend.

Many workplaces have a sauna, yes. It's pretty common for work groups to go to sauna as a recreational thing on their own time after work (although in this case not necessarily the workplace sauna, but rather one of the public saunas). Going to sauna is very common during an R&R day like this or as part of a Christmas party or something like that. And before anyone asks, yes, we go to sauna naked with our co-workers. Usually men and women separate, though.

We have a gym next to the sauna too and some people go there during the day, but I don't think it's possible to go to to sauna. There's a little rec area with a pool table, a kitchen, couches, a big screen etc. there as well, so it's a space people from work can book for R&R events.

And no, I absolutely do not know hieroglyphs. I'm just learning a little bit because it's interesting. Who wouldn't want to be able to read a laundry receipt from like 4,000 years ago? I know I do! :D

I hope it'll be a nice weekend. I look forward to today anyways. :)

Most of the people I work with love to talk about the budget of the EU and interest rates way too much to really be my friends. But there are some nice people there, too, and today I'm hanging out with them.

Maybe a super cropped pic if just the tip (pun intended). Not feeling very showy right now.

No need to if you don't feel like showing, naturally. :rose:

Encountering the expression "may his illness be short". Right up there with "bless your heart" as things that sound friendly but aren't.

My coworker’s husband playing impromptu charades me, with camera off. My coworker described everything. I got there in the end, though. It was A Pirate I Was Meant to Be. :)

Walking down the road, after dark, met a guy coming the other way.

He says, "with your phone like that, you looked like Green Lantern coming up the street."

Deadpan, I answered, "In brightest day, in darkest night..."

Dude finished it with me as we passed each other.

No clue who he was, probably never see him again, but it made us both smile for just a moment. A pair of geeks fighting the darkness our way.

More of this today. The answer was Alfred J. Kwak.

I’m ready to make this a daily thing. :)

Taramasalata, garlic bread and retsina at the local greek for lunch yesterday and then outdoor concert all afternoon. Still smiling.
