What Story Took the Longest to Finish?

I have several dozen stories which have been hanging fire, in some cases, for years. I supposed, technically, they would qualify.

While writing The Devil And Angel Em back in May 2023 I immediately stumbled on an origin story prequel idea for one of the characters, a story that became The Seduction Of Darkness and published just a few months later in September.

i also wanted to write a sequel, the events that happen AFTER The Devil And Angel Em.

That story took... longer. Almost a year.

Between writers block in general and no true direction on the story in particular, it sat unfinished for ages.

It wasn't til my friend & co-creator of what started calling The Angels And Demons Universe wrote a few stories on her end featuring her main characters and crossing over a few of mine that I finally found a path forward.

But even then it was a struggle; huge cast of characters, including my own and several of Emily's. And I had a ton of plot threads to tie up, character arcs to resolve, and... oh yeah, also write my own fantasy version of the creation of the universe.

No biggie, right? lol

Between Angels And Demons finally published August 2024.

Hardest story i ever wrote, but definitely proud of the results.

This started as a very loose Warhammer fantasy fanfic in like 2016, lol. I sort of started it as a joke to 'hornify' Warhammer after a friend got real into one of the videogames.

I rewrote it and scraped away the IP aspects, and submitted it as my first attempt at erotica. It did really well here so I turned it into a series.

Life got crazy, resulting in a 5 year break, then I finally finished the series. But the world and the characters got their hooks into me so I keep coming back for spinoffs and sequels. I have enough drafted and outlined to keep me going for years.
