Just thought I'd try and start another fun thread on here. I've had a couple on the playground that have taken off.

What was your first car?
mine was a 1987 Mercury Cougar

Your turn!

1984 Toyota Corolla Deluxe Diesel! Only filled the tank up every two weeks

A 1974 Ford Mustang, it was the first year they made them as small cars, it really was more of a kind of pretty pinto.

1973 Chevy Camaro, had more rust than body...and the trans blew in the first week. So I ended up with a blue 1975 Chevy Nova..

damn that makes me feel old.

1965 Chevy Impala. Complete with the speaker in the center rear seat console.

1966 Ford Econoline van. Saved it from the junk yard and rebuilt it. Drove it through high school. 3 speed standard transmission, 6 cylinder engine sat between the two front seats. Large speakers in the back. Very nice high school car, although not the safest. Could haul a lot of people though. Did I mention, no seatbelts?

Okay, my dad and I have issues...

The first car he gave me was a 1979 ish Volvo 240 series (I can't remember the exact model) that I really loved. My dad gave it to me, told me it was a POS but if I drove long enough to get me into college then he'd get me a better car. It had some minor body damage and when I got it, it was a complete and total gas guzzler. My best friend loved to play with cars and she tinkered it with a lot and soon, I was getting better mileage than his three year old Toyota. So he SOLD his damn Toyota, TOOK my beloved Volvo and gave me a 300 dollar Pinto death trap to replace it. But he wouldn't let my buddy work on the Volvo. He insisted on going to the dealership for maintenance and stuff and soon it was back to something horrible like 14 mpg.

He then claimed that I had "done something to screw his mileage" to the car (which I hadn't) because I was angry (which I was) and confiscated the Death Trap, er Pinto as "punishment". So I took the bus all summer. Jules found me a nice little Volvo (an 82 four door 240 series) for dirt cheap. I named her Brunhilde. Jules kept Brunhilde running for me, and soon I was back having great mileage. Since I was under 18, my grandmother co-signed for me and it was in both of our names until I was 18. That fall, my dad was POed at me about my "crappy ass grades" (I brought home ONE freaking B and you would have thought I failed everything). So he confiscated my car and gave it to my younger brother. Who was, incidentally only 14 and failing three classes, including PE. How the fuck do you fail PE? I reported it stolen and my dad got arrested. They originally arrested my brother too, but I got them to drop the charges. The judge eventually dismissed the charges against my dad, but read him the riot act in court for his unique approach to parenthood.

I moved in with my Grandmother, and drove Brunhilde all the way through college, and sold it finally to Jules' little sister for 250 dollars. It's worth more than that, because I took good care of it (and technically speaking it's a 'classic' ) and I have a killer mechanic who's worth her weight in gold. I still grin when I see Brunhilde on the road with a carload of people.

So technically speaking, Brunhilde was my third car, but I don't count the two Dad-mobiles I had first. It's been suggested in a moment of drunkeness that maybe Dad was trying to get rid of me with the Death Trap, but really, I don't think he's capable of making a plan that complex.

A 1990 Chevy Cavalier. Within a year, I'd hit a deer with it. :( Got damn good mileage, but it didn't have cruise and the tape deck went out on it. :(

A simply horrible late 1970s Dodge K station wagon in metallic puke green.

The only redeeming feature: stick shift rather than automatic.

(God it was an ugly, awful car.)

a '66 rustang... so called because it was a fairly decent looking mustang except for the fact that the floorboards had mostly rusted out. talk about something that was cold to drive in the winter.

luckily, not too long after we got it a friend of my dad's welded some new steel in for me.

1968 Karmann Ghia with a plaid cloth interior...I LOVED it No idea what the original color was but for me it was lemon yellow.

First and Only car - Vauxhall Corsa i got for my 21st nearly 2 years ago.

A 87 volkswagon fox... it was a piece of crap car that had stick shift that I would choke down every time I had to come to a complete stop. I really hated that car
