What if Monique had a time machine that she used to travel back to Russia, 1936, and so as to convince Prokofiev to include her as a character in "Peter And The Wolf"? She could easily charm him, I think, if he didn't first report her to the secret police for lascivious display of the people's flesh. So then along with Peter, his grandfather, the bird, the cat, the duck, the wolf, and the hunters, we'd also have The Naked Woman reclining seductively on the tundra. But what instrument would create her leitmotif? Peter is the string section, grandfather a bassoon, the bird is a flute, the cat a clarinet, the duck an oboe, the wolf French Horns, and the hunters tympani. Which instrument best represents our dear Monique? I have a few suggestions:

Tenor sax: lithe and romantic, capable of the deeper registers but also gorgeous high tones
Harp: dreamy sound, commonly associated with heavenly entities
Kazoo: bawdy vaudville sound, and I think we can all easily imagine Monique as a scantily dressed Follies girl...
Marimba: well, I can imagine the effect of seeing a beautiful naked woman on the Russian snow is similar to finding a mermaid, so what better to convey aquatic sensuality than the xylophone's zany cousin?

No matter what the instrument, we can all of course agree that including The Naked Woman into "Peter And The Wolf" would make elementary music class all the more exciting. If elementary music isnt eliminated completely by 2009 due to budget restructions, that is.
