Hey, if I somehow manage to screw it up I'll just make another one. Or 5. Wood is cheap. Other than the machines, what's expensive is the time and materials spent on the learning curve until you know how to cut/shape the wood so you get tight, gap-free joinery.

I already have people waving cash money at me and saying that they're next in line for one.

I've made a few over the years, for friends as well as for myself. There are several YouTube channels run by craftsmen who make cutting boards professionally, and they're well worth watching. You'll pick up plenty of practical tips for refining your technique, along with clever homemade router jigs and other shop tricks that can save time and improve the finished product on your next project.

I'm not offended in the slightest degree. On the contrary, I'm happy you liked my quickie cutting board and made the suggestion.

However, most of those who make those fancy cutting boards are at the top of their game but only because they're unable to transition to bigger/better woodworking.

I believe we have discussed the coping of the crown. I never bothered with making furniture but I have repaired vastly more of it than ever I wanted. At the rate that I am going, I may wind up with a very old car as much remnant of the carriage trade as early product of the auto industry. That is assured to get interesting if there is much repair. Always assume the worst.

Even as late as the 1950's (and still today with Morgan Cars) some cars, like Woodies, used wooden body supports and framing that often need replacement after they've rotted away.

Knowing how the joinery was done as well as being able to make a pattern so you can create a replacement part, is important. If you can't do it yourself, you're going to be paying out the nose (and getting violated in a few other bodily orifices too) to have someone else fabricate what you need. And the more you need, the more ass raping you're going to be getting.

Every block plane is in effect, a chisel. Past craftsmen accomplished some very beautiful workmanship with just those and their hands.
