When Darkness Falls

Alaric

I said to Miyu "I had a run in with some vampires earlier, the redhead in that room screaming is a slayer." I sighed "you'd best stay here while we wait for him to come out, I'll have some explaining to do, or do you want to do it?" I asked her, and walked over to the room standing at the door, my hand on my gun as I heard Amelia go on about someone at the door, my eyes watching it just in case something happened.

She shifted so that she could lay across his chest and put her hand underneath the back of his head. She looked him in the eye and smiled at him and said,

“That’s quite the line, I bet you say that to all the girls.”

and moved in to kiss him.

"Hey in there. Hello" and again she giggled. She knew that most hunters could read thoughts or at least sense one of their kind. She was a bit of a rebel . Well yeah of course she was a vampire and a vampire hunter. Ironic.

"Come out come out whomever you are" she yelled. Her high falsetto ringing in the night like someone scraping their fingernails on a blackboard.

Constable mumbled and grumbled to himself as he walked to the door. Once more, he grabbed hold of his shotgun as he opened it and looked at, seeing a beutiful young blonde girl, grinning at him.

"Sorry miss, I'm closed. Unless it's an emergency, come back in the morning"

Dahmnall

Dahmnall kissed her, and for the first time in so long he didnt feel lonely. Here he was kissing the girl he grew up wanting, and the illogical, irrational, purely human part of him decided that it was worth one eye to do.

"I bid you goodnight, and a good morning them, my hostess"

"Dria," she said softly, "The name is Dria and there's no need to be so formal. There are heavy curtains through the whole house so if you rise early you needn't worry about the sun and can roam as you will. There are some blood packets in the fridge as well. Not nearly as good as fresh but they work to tide one over until the sun sets so feel free to feed as needed."

Offering another smile she turned and headed toward her own room where she settled in with a small smile still on her lips. It had been an interesting night and she couldn't help but wonder what tomorrow would hold.

Miyu looked to the room. "Another slayer? They seem to be getting out more and more latly..." She sighed, "You'd better do the talking. My luck she would try to fight me without giving me a chance to speak." Miyu replied. She yawned softly, "Its been another long night huh?" She asked.

Amelia felt his arm go around her waist and she ran her tongue along his lower lip. When he opened his mouth she deepened the kiss. Then she remembered that he just got out of surgery, there were people waiting in the other room and broke off the kiss.

"I should go get the doctor and find out if you can get out of bed."

Alaric

I nodded to Miyu and kept my hand on my gun inside my coat, "but there seems to be more . . . I don't think she's human." I watched the lady and the doctor for a moment, standing outside the door where Amelia and the redhead were. I walked over to the front door and said "is there anything we can help you with miss?"

As Dahmnall got up Amelia mentally thanked the doctor for removing Dahmnall's shirt while she checked him out. He seemed to be moving fine so she walked out the door and into the hallway. Alaric was tense as was Miyu. The doctor was still at the door with his shotgun. She turned back around and into the room with Dahmnall.

"Please stay in here for a minute. Something is going on."

Dahmnall

"Are ya sure lass?" Dahmnall said, looking around. "I can still fight." I hope he thought.

"Ok, there is someone at the door and everyone is on edge. Past that I don't know what is going on."

Amelia said and held her hand out for his left hand. She had to start trusting his judgement sometime, might as well start now but she would help him when she could. When you loose an eye you only loose 20% of your vision so he would still have a bit of a blind spot on his left side.

"All of your weapons are in my car again, but there are enough armed people in this house maybe we won't have to fight. Can vampires only come into a house when invited or is that just folklore?"

She walked out into the hallway with Dahmnall and asked Alaric,

"What is going on?"

Smiling her innocent smile, she spoke. To all of them and none of them.

"I, umm heard the commotion and saw, well, this, and thought, like, hey maybe, you know, I could like help" she said. pointing to them.

"It was like, wow, he, then bang, her, and umm, well, im being rude so like, umm, what are you all doing in here?" her words, typical valley talk enhanced her smile. They knew she was different. At least the man did. They would soon tell her they were hunters, of that she was most certain cause she could read most their minds. Could they also see into hers? Would they be able to see she too was like them? Peals of laughter errupted from her at this thought, like them? Hell no, she was not like them and yet yes she was.

Amelia moved so she could see where the giggling was coming from and saw a blonde girl at the door. Amelia couldn't understand what she was saying then the girl started laughing again. It was way too early in the morning to deal with this and the sun should be up soon. She wanted to get out of here but would wait untill the sun was up to move Dahmnall so that nothing could attack him.

Lorien felt the sun making its way into the sky, she was way to psyched up to sleep today. There were others around. She didnt care either way. She was having way to much fun. She wanted the attention. She wasnt afraid of the sun by no means. She was after all part human. The only thing she thought maybe she didnt like as a vampire were nosy and otherwise deeply inquisitive poeple who tended to get into her business on some lever or another without being invited. She could easily die like anyone else she supposed, stake through the heart should do the trick. But, who wouldnt die from that sort of wound? Just because she was a vampire didnt mean she was immortal. She could be killed of course she could. That was the human part in her.. All humans die eventually. Vampires and hunters took longer to do so. Anyone that did not die from fatal wounds from a vampire attack or bite was pretty much an anomalie themselves. No one truley lived forever. That she was aware of and she intended to make the most of her time here while she could.

She turned to the lady staring at her and spoke. Her voice loosing all its humour.

"If you have a problem lady, I would suggest you tell me. Otherwise unless I have a huge green clinger on the tip of my nose, laughter should not provoke such staring" she said still smiing.

I guess waiting for Dahmnall's uncle may not be a good idea, Amelia thought to herself and let go of Dahmnall's hand. She walked towards the girl and the doctor. She looked at the girl and said,

"Yeah I do have a problem. You are detaining the doctor and I'm unclear what exactly you are doing here, are you lost? It's a little late for peddling drugs and too early for selling girl scout cookies."

Constable grumbled. "Look lass. What's going on in here is none of your business. Unless you're a concerned relative and can prove it, you're not coming in. I kinda object to people knocking on my door for no reason"

Stepping within an inch of the other woman, Lorien gave her a once over.

"I like the others here am a huntress dear lady and my purpose for being here is none of concern to a mere human like yourself. I know you all, Dahmnall, especially. I witnessed the fight earlier and followed. The vampire he killed was one of Dracius own making. She was a gift. Her mother offered herself to Dracius long ago and she was the resullt. I had been following her for a long long time. She is also responsible for making me the vampire that I am. Yes, I am a vampire and I am a huntress. What I want most is to bring him down, all of him and those he has close to him for what he did to my family" her words were strong and full. She wanted the others to know she was no threat even though she was a blood drinker.

"I pose no threat and would like to help. My name is Lorien Bannerman" she said offering her hand.

Constable narrowed his eyes as he watched the young girl. So. She was a vampire by her own admition. Had yet to be proved if that was a good thing or a bad thing. He didn't lower his gun, but rather pressed the barrel against the girl's side.

"So. A leech, eh? Well guess what. I got two 12 gague shells loaded in this thing, each one with a nice and shiny cross. You're gonna stay right where you are until I decide if you're a threat or not"

Miyu nodded and looked towrads the door. She could see that the sun was going to be rising soon. She shuddered slightly. The last time she had stayed out in the sun for an hour she had been pulling dead skin off her body for almost a week.

She looked back over at Alaric, "I have got to get back to the house quickly. I don't want to be caught out in the sun. If you see Zeke tell him where I went." She asked him. She grabbed her robes that she had taken off earileir and headed towards the door.

Reaching out her finger and running it over the man's cheek Lorian said "You do whatever it is you do to make you feel safe. I mean YOU no harm. But, as a freely admitting vampire, I understand your concern sir. Besides, I really dont want a hole in my new shirt" and laughed again. This time it was clear and not at all piercing. Her body was growing tired and her functions were shutting down. She wanted to sit, she wanted to lie down, but she felt that any certain moves would ruin the Donna Karran shirt she now wore.

Constable scowled, then pulled his gun back. "Alright. You can come in. But I'm gonna be watching you, so don't try any funny stuff"

Alaric

There was something about this girl I didn't like, but I couldn't stop the doctor from letting the girl in. I nodded to Miyu and pulled out my gun and kept in on the girl after the door closed. "Explain yourself girl, how do you know she belonged to Dracius? and how do we know you don't work for Dracius?"
