Doctor Constable wearilly stepped outside of his house, keeping his eyes alert for any kind of trick. He followed the woman to a parked car where whoweve it was, obviously was. One look inside and his eyes went wide with shock. "Get him inside! Now! First room on the left!", he turned and dashed back into his house, heading to retrieve his tools and something to work with
As the doctor came over, I knew he was pretty human, and wasn't too worried, I was more worried about if there would be more vampires around. I opened the door and heaved the redhead onto my back and started walking towards the building, going inside, I looked for the door he indicated, the first door on the left. Noticing it was closed, I looked and Amelia and jerked my head at the door "some help here?"
Amelia opened the door and led Alric into where the doctor was. I watched Alric put Dahmnall on the table and the doctor started to look him over.
"He has been drinking and I tried to stop as much blood as I could. A dog attacked him and the owner got angry."
Looking at Amelia I almost said something to stop her, but at least the story was semi believable, I just hoped he didn't check the red head's alcohol level, that would prove troublesome. I walked out of the room, and kept one of my hands on my gun, and watched the hallway.
The doctor didn't seem to need any further explainations right now so Amelia walked out the door. Amelia was curious about how the vampire in white was connected to this doctor. Did she really need to make something up about what happened to Dahmnall? Did the doctor already know about vampires? How long had she been awake for?
Alaric was standing out in the hallway and Amelia looked him over. Looked like he was in his late twenties and about 6'2. He had shoulder length black hair and was wearing all black except for a white shirt. He was also armed but he wasn't exactly trying to hide that fact.
"Will we be safe here? What I mean is can vampires attack us here?" Amelia said quietly
Looking at her, this was the first time I noticed her. She was a little shorter than me, and had nice blue eyes. I said "they can attack anywhere they like, depending on the strength of the vampire, even churches can be hit." My gaze drifted towards the closed main door, and then back to the doctor "it all depends on how prepared you are."
"Once again, i am sorry. I'm got overly familiar with the protocols of this city."
Dria smiled softly as he bowed to her. The gesture was courtly and quite well done, as if he'd spent time touring some royal court. She was tempted to tease him once more but when his eyes caught hers and he smiled her words caught in her throat.
"Should I kneel?"
Laughing she shook her head, "Certainly not. My name is Alexandria St. James and simple basic manners will suit just fine. Might I ask what brings you to my fair city?"
Amelia noticed a small waiting room nearby and motioned for Alaric to follow her. She was going to sit down on the couch but saw a counter with coffee making stuff and almost danced for joy. She started a pot of coffee going and asked Alaric,
"Dahmnall called you a slayer, is that what you are?"
Arabeth was having troubles falling asleep, strange place, uncomfortable floor. She was kicking herself for trying to surprise her friends. They would have picked her up and she could be in a more… comfortable setting. Her friends Sabine and Lear pretty much stayed away from the typical “vampire life” they liked to pretend that they were a normal human couple, with human friends, and human problems. This amused Arabeth at times, she liked to pretend she was human once and awhile with them. It’s not like she hated being a vampire, to her it was more a joke, listening to these people talk about their little lives and their little problems, all the while fantasizing about how she would drain them. The thought sent a chill of excitement through her body. With Sabine and Lear’s friends she just left it at fantasy, these were normally good people that they associated with. Arabeth loved to go after the truly discusting people, rapists, murderers, pedophiles. They were the most fun to toy with. Like a cat with a mouse, manipulating their every move till they were trapped.
Arabeth loved the freedom being a vampire offered her. Lear had been the vampire to change her. Arabeth’s human life had been nothing less than pathetic. Her mother had left her in the clutches of her pedophile stepfather when she was really young, and when she had been to old to arouse his lusts any longer had been sold off into marriage to one of his friends who had been equally disgusting. She had met Lear on the road one night after she had been late at the market. She knew her husband would beat her, and had been crying when Lear stopped her in his carriage. Somehow they had become close, she would go out at night after her husband slept. She laughed when she thought about her human self not even suspecting there was something wrong with Lear. He had told her that he loved her, and could provide the tools she needed to free herself. She was a devout Catholic (Arabeth chuckled at that thought) at the time, and didn’t believe in divorce. That’s when Lear had told her he was a vampire, that Arabeth would die ending her marriage and she could live with him forever, the only thing he asked was that Arabeth not change her daughter. Arabeth had become so frightened and angry that she ran back to her house and vowed never to see him again. But all the next day she thought about his words of love, and his promise of freedom, and this could be a way to save her daughter from her fate, and maybe she did love Lear.
That night she went back to Lear, and that’s when he changed her. The vengeance she reaped on her husband always brings a smile to her face as she remembered him screaming for mercy. And she remembered her mother’s tears as Arabeth tortured and killed her stepfather. Arabeth then took her daughter and gave her to an elderly couple who had been kind to Arabeth once.
Arabeth became Lear’s companion and he made sure that her daughter always had money. Arabeth was able to watch her daughter grow, have children and die a happy wealthy woman. She spent many happy years with Lear, but there had been no love there, and they parted ways as friends. She traveled for a longtime through Europe and came back when Lear decided he wanted to “Marry” Sabine. It had been a really strange ceremony, it had been just like a human wedding, which seemed a little ludicrous to Arabeth, but oh well, to each their own. That was when Lear and Sabine had started living as humans.
Arabeth had let all her weakness behind after her husband and stepfather died, the only aspect of Arabeth's life that those men manipulated was her choice in victims. Maybe that was a why she choose the men she killed so could continue to kill her stepfather and husband each and every night.
Constable muttered and mumbled to himself as he got to work on the injured man who was laying on his table. Someone sure had done a nasty job on the poor fellow. Mostly, he was dealing with cleaning away most of the blood. Stitching would have to wait until later. First he wanted to stem any furthur bleeding. Thankfully, although he had only been asleep a short while ago, the adrenalin running through his system was better than any coffee
Miyu had walked away from Alraic and Zeke when she sensed another vampire. Following her instincts, she walked hurredly down an alley-way not really paying atention to where it was that she was headed uintill it was to late.
"Looks like we caought another goody-two-shhoes Mikey." A vampire teased out. He wore red and gold robes and Mikey the vampire on his left had emerald green ones on. Mikey smiled, "Ohh...what she gonna do?" His voice sang out almost in a song the way it taunted her.
Miyu stood upright and placed her hand on the hilt of the kitana. "What are the likes of you oing in my city?" She asked. Her eyes never leaving the faces of the vampires. She wanted them to know she meant business. The first vampire drew out his blade and Mikey looked over, "Preston, don't you think we should just report her?" He whispered.
His whisper was not quiet enough and Miyu heard it. SMirking, she attacked before Mikey ad a chance to grab his sword out of its sheath. Preston angered by the sudden attack turned and lounged for Miyu's right side. Blocking the blade slightly, it skimmed her robe and tore a large hole in it.
Miyu cursed at the new hole in the robe and ducked an attack from the inexpirenced Mikey. She thrust her sword into his heart. Blood poured forth from the deveastating wound and coulured the briht pavement. Preston whiped back and attacked her left flank again, this time unable to dodge the attack, Preston's sword ripped through the cloth of Miyu's robe and slashed her side.
The wound although not deep had been made with a silver weapon so the pain was worse than a normal wound. She grasped her side and attacked him again. Their swords clashing into each other the sounds richoceted off the walls of the alley-way. Miyu's wound slowly started to heal, but not quickly. Seeing this as an opertune time, Preston attacked the same spot again.
Miyu had been waiting on this attack, however, and dodged it bringing her own blade down severing his head form his body. Sweat poured off her brow and the blue robes she had on now had a large red stain where the wound was slowly closing itself. She looked back down on the two piles of ash that now sat on the pavement and shook her head.
Who had they been wanting to report back to? Sighing, Miyu turned back around to find Zeke and Alaric. Back at the previous street, she could not see Zeke, but sensed Alraic. Following his familair aura, she found her way to a building she had never been to before. Miyu was weary to enter it, it might be somesort of trap, or perhaps he wsa seeking an old friend? Miyu sheathed her sword and pulled the door open walking inside.
I nodded for a moment "pretty much, slayers are those of us humans, who have gathered knowledge and fight the" I turned sensing someone outside, I drew my gun on the main door and as it opened I noticed it was Miyu and sighed in relief "vampires." I walked over to her and holstered my gun "close the door" and then I looked her in the eye "were you followed?" and noticed the stain of blood on her clothing "you want to wash that out?"
"Followed?" Miyu half smiled. "No I got rid of two in an alley a few streets off. She looked down at the mess on her robes. "I'll change in a second, you havn't seen Zeke around have you?" She asked. She looked back at the mess. "Sorry if I interupted...." She trailed off and muttered, "Favorite ones too..." She slipped the top robe off and wound it up.
Lorien was the youthful picture of present day. Her blonde hair was neatly cut and her blue eyes dancing. She smelled him from a distance and followed behind. The lady entered the building where he was. His scent was strong from a recent battle. She laughed a bit jumping into a run. She spotted the woman entering the building from the alley just outside. Humm, she thought, how do I get in there? snapping her fingers she walked up to the door.
"Hey, in there, Hello?" she said banging on the door.
"I know your int here, I saw you" she yelled. Of course what better way to get their attention then to be the attention getter.
"My name is Alexandria St. James and simple basic manners will suit just fine. Might I ask what brings you to my fair city?"
"Why am I here? There's no special reason. I'm nomadic. Itravel from city to city, learning what I can before moving on. I only arrived here a couple of days ago"
He chuckled to himself.
"Guess with my select clothing, it's difficult to be incogneto, eh?"
"Guess with my select clothing, it's difficult to be incogneto, eh?"
"Just a bit, " Dria said with a soft laugh. "The clothes look good however you'd blend in better in something other than white."
Glancing around them she sighed softly, she could feel the dawn coming, "It'll be morning soon. I have a spare bedroom if you need somewhere to sleep."
Kyrev thaught for a moment. He did have a cellar that he had 'borrowed' from some unsuspecting humans. It was a goot 10 minutes walk away, however. It had been a very long time since he had stayed in a proper bedroom. And, judging by the lightening horizon, dawn would arrive almost too soon
I nodded at hearing her response and closed the door immediately and walked back to Amelia "you don't need to make any for me . . . I've adjusted my sleep schedule immensely over time, it becomes a necessity when dealing with vampires." I then gestured to the woman who walked in "and that's Miyu, one of my friends and allies that help me kill vampires."
"You're more than welcome. Follow me," she said and turned quickly. She set a brisk pace as the sky was just beginning to lighten and her home was down on the beach.
"I have a lovely little home down on the beach. I find it convenient to have a place of my own when I intend to stay somewhere for some time."
Reaching her small house she let them in and gave Kyrev a quick tour. The furnishings were spartan but comfortable except for the small den that seemed almost overstuffed in comparison to the rest of the house. It was lined with bookshelves that were filled and still there were books stacked beside them and along the spare spaces of wall where a bookshelf wouldn't fit.
"My sanctuary on those nights I don't go out," she said by way of an explanation. "The bedroom is just down the hall here."
Taking him to the spare room she allowed him to enter. Inside was a queen sized, four poster bed complete with heavy beg curtains in a deep, blood red velvet. Matching the bed was a dresser and a vanity and the curtains that barred the sun from the windows matched those around the bed.
"A bit melodramatic to be sure," she said with a soft laugh, "But I like my little luxuries."
Miyu looked down. The blood must have seeped through to her shirt when she took the top robe off. "Well, yeah I suppose so...but I only came looking for my friends." She lifted the shirt to show the wound as it finished healing leaving a small scar. She let the shirt fall back into place and ook a seat and leaned back. "So whats going on here anyway?"
Kyrev chuckled. "Melodromatic it may be, but it sure seems funcional"
He moved around the bedroom, admiring all the work that had gone in to creating all the slendour of the furniture. Some of it looked old, some of it looked new, but it all seemed to mesh perfectly.
He then turned around to regard Dria. "I think I owe you a favour for this"
He then turned around to regard Dria. "I think I owe you a favour for this"
Dria smiled softly, "Perhaps so. However it's been a long night and I'm at a loss as to how to collect. If you think of something let me know," she said teasingly.
"Seriously though, I hope you're comfortable. If you need anything let me know."
Kyrev nodded to Drea. "Of course. Dawn is soon approaching, and we both could use the rest"
He undid his jacket and removed it, looking it over. He shook his head and sighed at the dirt that had become encrused in it. He carefully hung it on the back of a chair. He then bowed to her. "I bid you goodnight, and a good morning them, my hostess"
