When Darkness Falls

Amelia looked over at the doctor, there was more there than just a doctor. He obviously has delt with vampires before. Ignoring the girl, Amelia asked Alaric,

"Who is Dracius?"

Alaric

Not taking my eyes off, or the gun, I said quickly "Dracius is a dangerous vampire."

Oh, is that all. So, dangerous like Buffy over there, or dangerous like Cecillia.

With Alaric on edge because of the girl, Amelia looked over at Dahmnall to see how he was holding up and to gage what his reaction to all of this was.

Shaking my head I said "no, more dangerous. I managed to almost kill him once with the help of Miyu and another friend, like normal he turned to dust. However he stayed alive."

Miyu walked over to the door and exited the building. She could already feel pricks upon her skin warning her about the rising sun.She picked up her pace rounding the corner. She was close to getting to the house. She smiled happy that it had not taken her as long as she thought it would have.

She walked up the stairs outside of the house and stopped at the door. Once inside she walked back to her room and pulled the shutters closed and secured the small locks on them before she got ready for bed. Laying on the materess, Miyu looked at the ceiling thinking for a whle about the increase in attacks. Finally sahe drifted off to sleep.

Dahmnall

"Dracius is the master vampire." Dahmnall said walking out of the room "Jaysus Christ another vamp?" Dahmnall said staring at the newest arrival, and looking around for a weapon.

"It's ok Dahmnall, if she gets scrappy, the good doctor will cure her of it."

Amelia walked over to Dahmnall and took his hand. Looking at Lorien she said,

"But you are going to play nice, aren't you? "

Lorien wanted naught but to reach inside their heads and show them what they were in for.

"i am quite content as it is miss whatever your name is, but I do not wish to explain my lif history but once. You see, anytime a stronger vampire bites you you are in possession of their memories until you are completely turned. I could show you but, you probably arent my type" she said and continued "Cecillia was a powerhouse. Literally. She was strong and in possession of gifts no known vampire possess. I also know that to each human she turned a part of those gifts were passes on thus my ability to walk in the day. Dracius lost control of Cecillia long before she could be trained to walk in his shoes. She went rogue, wild. She longed for the kill as well as the hunt. It was a passion she could not control. Luckily for me she just wanted a companion. I walked away, almost. I have been tracking her for many many years now, and to see her come to the end she did, well it does my heart some good. Why she chose me? That was a question I never got a chance to learn the answer to. I know distrust. I smell it as most people smell familiar scents. I am a vampire. I am also a hunter. I do not feed on innocents. I feed on those that have made evil and harm thier life. I have never killed and have never attempted to change anyone. For the most part, I am, as you say, a Buffy in my mannerisms but make no mistake. Under the schitck, I am a killer of vampires and if the right people found out, boy oh" and with a sigh I rolled my eyes comically and made an off with my head gesture.

"Anymore questions?" I asked.

Amelia watched the girl talk. At least she could understand what she was saying. Though Amelia still didn't know why she was here or telling them all of this; maybe it ment more to Dahmnall and Alaric. Dahmnall's uncle should be here soon then they could get out of here.

"Why are you here and what do you want?"

Alaric

I nodded "how do we know we can trust you're telling the truth?" I said calmly, my left hand on the other gun inside my coat.

"How do I know that you wont kill me for being a vampire anyways?" I asked.

"Im a watcher. I watch. What else could I tell you that would make you believe me?" she asked again.

Dahmnall

Father Patrick pulled up to the doctors house. and walked in the door "Dahmnall?" he said walking in and he saw the group. "Im over here uncle paddy." dahmnall said "By the blessed saints boyo," Father Patrick started saying in his thick northern donegal accent. he crossed himself "What have ya been getting yourself into lad?" "Well everyone its been a regular ceili tonight, but im inclined to trust the lass for now" Dahmnall said wearily "we will reconvene tommorrow evening at St. Patricks church. Unless someone disagrees?" "Feckin' hell lad, this was more then your standard tango with the fanged ones." father patrick said examining Dahmnalls wounds "lets get you home lad, what will your ma say when she sees you tomorrow afternoon at cousin Fionn's pub? Have you had your monthly constitutional?" "Not yet uncle, i hadn't gotten to it. have you got a fag? mine are in me saddlebag." "I got a spare carton lad for just such an occasion. AMELIA CALLAHAN!" Father Patrick said "Ah jaysus howaya? I see you've taken to spending time around that dumb brute I call me nephew."

"We all understand that there is an issue of trust. Lorien, you have explained what you are, how you got here, but not why did you follow us here."

Amelia heard a car pull up to the doctor's house and figured that it was Father Patrick. Amelia felt relieved. All she wanted to do at this point was find somewhere to crash before she fell over. Maybe the coffee hadn't been strong enough but at this point she would probably have to be hooked up to an IV of straight caffeine.

"This is getting us no where and it has been a long enough night already, lets not make the morning drag on too. If the doctor has no objections I would like to get Dahmnall out of here."

Then Father Patrick walked in and in a whirlwind of conversation made his way over to Dahmnall. At his comments about the company she was keeping, Amelia laughed and said,

"Just trying to keep him in as much trouble as I can."

Looking at Lorien for a moment, I decided to holster my gun "I'll trust you . . . for now, but know this" I said narrowing my eyes "one betrayal and you'll be just as dead as many of the other vampires I killed." Listening to the redhead I nodded to him and turned to Amelia "you going to be alright? or do you need an escort?"

"you going to be alright? or do you need an escort?"

Amelia looked over at Dahmnall. He would be going with his uncle and she had her car here. It wouldn't be good if she survived the night only to die falling asleep driving home.

"Escort, no, but company would be appreciated."

"WAIT" she yelled. Grabbing their attention for just a bit longer.

"Where tonight? I wish to meet with all of you again. There are things at hand that must be discussed. Besides, I like her, like company" she said. The annoyances in their gazes were little but she wanted to be there and tell them what she knew of Dracius. That much she could do. Besides, if there was betrayal among them, it would not be her.

Doctor Constable grumbled to himself about 'young people'. Here they were, early in the morning, discussing vampires, hunting, and a meet-up for this evening. Now, Constable would have considered it very strange indeed, and probably kicked them all out as soon as vampires were mentioned, but he has actually had contact with them, and so was not as disturbed as some may have been.

He cressed his arms and looked at the group. "Look, I don't meant to sound like a grouch, but I get less sleep than normal, and I gotta open up in 5 hours. Would you please mind discussing this all outside? I think that, by the looks of your injured friend that he is will enough to walk"

Giddian had waited around long enough. He glanced at his watch and saw that the sun was to be rising soon. If no vampires had come to this hide out it was likly they had been somehow warned to stay away for the night. Sighing he sheathed his sword and walked towards the massive doors of the ware house.

They creaked open as he pushed them outwards. He peered into the everlightening sky "Maybe they will be at another location..." He muttered to himself. For now he was actually tired and needed to get to his house so he would be ready for the next day. He took a quick survey of the land around him making sure he was not being followed then started his walk home.

He would have hailed a taxi, but he knew the smll bit of change that jingled in his pocket from the last ride would not be enough. He cursed himself. True the fifty he used earlier would prevent the driver from saying he had seen him, but it had almost been for nothing. All he had to show for his troubles was a lot of weaponry. He would have liked it better to have a set of fangs to add to his colletion.

Shrugging his shoulders agnst the weight of the staffs and blades, he turned another corner and neared a busy intersection. From here it would only be a few miles before he reached his house.

Dahmnall & Father Patrick

"Clearly you've succeeded lass," Father Patrick said with a chuckle "Aw jaysus Dahmmy me lad I've invented a new pub song for ya "When an irish eye is smiling."Clearly the holy see does not select her priests for their comic value." Dahmnall said rolling his eye "Come on Uncle, i need a fag and we need to load me bike onto the back of your truck. St. Patrick roman catholic church one hour after sunset. If you are to be trusted in the fight against Dracius I expect you there. If your lucky I'll get me ma to make black pudding, and get some of me granddas homebrewed stout for refreshments." Dahmnall said "Dahmnall Liam Padraig O'Dochartaigh," the old priest said "You drink too much lad. Amelia Callahan, I expect to see your irish eyes smiling and clutching their rosary at noon mass sunday, or by the virgin I'll write to the pope that moment." Father Patrick said laughing "Come along now you big palooka lets get you home." and they walked out the door

"Yeah, I'll be there Father. I wouldn't pass up the chance to listen to more of your jokes." Amelia laughed.

Amelia thanked the doctor before following Father Patrick and Dahmnall out the door. Amelia decided to wait with Alaric until everyone was safely away from Lorien, before going to her car.

Alaric

Waiting there, I watched them moving, the redhead was pretty die hard, more die hard than most slayers. That made me wonder about him for a bit, then I realized I was left alone with Amelia and the vampire, which prompted me to turn to Amelia "ready to go?"

Amelia watched Dahmnall leave. She was a little confused about what was going on between them, but then she would have to figure out what she was expecting, which would have to be left for another time.

"Ready to go",

Amelia nodded and got into her car. After Alaric got in, Amelia started to drive to her house. Amelia told Alaric where she lived and asked if he lived in the area then asked,

"How long have you been a slayer? Are you like Dahmnall and all members of his family are trained as slayers?"

Alaric

I shook my head "I live outside the city for now," and I looked around and thought about it "I've been a slayer most of my life" looking down "I don't know my parents though . . . they were killed by Dracius"

"I'm sorry about your parents, Alaric. So who raised you to be a slayer?"

Amelia looked over at Alaric. He help Dahmnall and seemed to be an ok guy. Not that you can tell if someone is crazy just by looking at him, but since he had helped she said,

"I didn't know you lived out of town, would you like me to drop you off there? The other option is that you can crash on the couch at my place."
