Are you sure about that? I used to hear the song in the late fifties, and I had the impression it was about a speakeasy. That would probably place the song as being insired by events more than thirty years earlier, which would be okay. Of course, it could have been a speakeasy in a dry county, possibly in Texas.

I collect 50s, 60s music. In the process, I often get some historical information. At some point in time, I recall reading an interview with Jim Lowe, where he revealed the info. However, I'm unable to find the data again.
