When Real Life Expectation Cannot Meet the Dreams of the Altruists

I had this crazy Russian driver and I thought he was a Cold War plant because he seemed determined to kill us.

Have you ever even seen Kansas? How are you going to design public transport for a place like that?
Cars are rural transportation. Just like mass transit doesn’t belong in rural Kansas, cars don’t belong in big cities.

You know what, it sounds like a local, maybe state issue and something the federal government shouldn't be involved in or setting standards for and fucking up the economy because when centralized government gives us big solutions to big imaginary problems, they fuck us, they screw up our lives and then they steal our hard-earned money in the form of taxes making us the worst prostitutes in the world because we're paying the John, or in this case, the Sam...

I recently stumbled on an Instagram account by a woman named Haleigh DeRocher, (@sweetsequels). She creates exquisite artwork based on classic literature from authors like J.R.R. Tolkien, Charles Dickens, and C.S. Lewis.

On Tuesday, she posted a quote from Lewis’ wife, author Joy Davidman, who wrote, “Every age has its professional apologists, and ours are working hard to convince us that our worst sins are virtues.” [emphasis mine] Davidman wrote these words in 1954 in Smoke on the Mountain, her meditation on the Ten Commandments, but the quote sounds like she’s writing about our present age.

Folks that believe that the centralization of power is a good thing have learned nothing from history.

They desire Kings and Queens (and guillotines)...

(Aerosmith, Draw the Line Album, CD, MP3, Streaming, whatever... :D )

It relieves them of the burden of having to take responsibility for their own lives.
And, I think that's the crux of it.

As Plato (I believe, it was one of the Greeks) put it, most men are born to be slaves.

People who would happily trade away liberty for (perceived) security.

An the Red Queen screams, "OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!"

*chuckle*

I love being a lightening rod. It tells me that I am efficacious.

(I'm sorry that you two will have to get out your online dictionaries for that one.)

It IS annoying that the government wastes so much money on car infrastructure. Suburbs couldn’t exist without massive government subsidies.
