When RP takes control IC thread

Kryss~

"Oh really? and just what kind of payment did you have in mind
M'lord " Teasing tone, "It would be dreadful if I couldn't repay you." Nails lightly caress the back of your neck. Still weary and just wanted to sleep, least now JAs has my curiousty going enough to stay awake.

" Are we close to town?" somewhat hopeing that we weren't. not wanting to leave his arms. Then again that other part hoped we were for obvious reasons.

Jasleth

His skin tingled where her nails had passed, sending little thrills through him. He took a steadying breath before he put on a thoughtful expression. "We're still a good half hour away...assuming we don't pick up the pace any." "Going in a straight shot like this cuts the time down a good bit." He didn't mention that it also increased their chance of running across unwelcome company. Always the risk in taking the shortest distance between two points, the road curved around to avoid certain things.

"Now as to you more important question..." He was glad this was working, though her tone and touch were making him think of things beyond the task at hand. Not that he really minded. "I'd say my services are pretty valuable." "Service for service maybe...I bet you have some very nice dances you can do in private." He did what he hoped was a suggstive leer...harder when you didn't have programmed emotes. "Maybe a turn or two just for my...appreciative eyes?"

Kryss~

Gleam shot through my eyes at his *suggesstion* sly little grin crossed my lips.

"hmmmm you sure that your little ranger chick won't get upset? I saw you two in the pond." You looked pretty well content with her." grin got even more sly'er. Took him by surprise when I brought that up, he thought no one was watching.

"Despite that, I'm sure I can come up with something to please you." My nails kept caressing his neck.

Jasleth

Jasleth nearly lost pace when she brought up his...wrestling match with Soliel. Judging from the sly grin on her pale blue face, he'd already given away his surprise at that. Her comment also brought the sense of betrayel he had felt at the archer's disappearance up again. He had thought that maybe he ahd reached her, gotten past the defenses, convinced her that the group, or he at least, were all right.

He shook his head slowly. "Your eyes are sharp, m'lady fair." "I had thought our...tussle hadn't been noticed." "Though I'm not sure what you think you saw." He stopped, not quite sure what to say. That and her continued ministrations to his neck were delightfully distracting. "It seems though that she was not content with my company no matter what I might have thought."

"I'm certain you can." He almost closed his eyes and purred as her fingers caressed a particularily sensitive spot. Damn, how could she do this to him? "Much as I enjoy combat as flirtation, there are far more pleasant art forms I think I could enjoy very much." Then he opened his eyes wide again and winked at her, "Though if you want to wrestle too, I wouldn't have a complaint."

" Does it truly matter what I saw? I saw enough to have questioned myself. Specially when she called me hussy, and you said nothing in defense." Casting down my eyes at that, said to much just then.

"No matter, even if she does come. I will act no different towards her." hearing him purrr was slightly arousing me, I loved it when men purred.

"It's nice to think that I can make you purr like that. I'm not much of a fighter, so I would have to say the more pleasant art form, as you put it, would be more my style. Although alittle rough play I can handle."

Started to close my eyes, getting harder to keep them open, closing them fully now. Holding tight onto him, wishing I could kiss him, but uncertain of this posion.

"We should take care of this first, then we'll take it from there." Smiled with my eyes closed.

Jasleth

Jasleth jerked his eyes away from her, feeling ashamed. He had let that comment go. He hadn't thought about it at the time...but he should have said something. "I owe you an apology for that." His voice had lost it's teasing edge, now soft and sad. "I should have said something...I knew it then too." "I guess I was too...surprised at what was happening." He shook his head. "It's no excuse though." "I did you a disservice." "I'm sorry." He turned a serious expression, "I made you an offer in partial fun before, but I'll make it in earnest now." "If someone says anything like that again...I'll have words for them, and more." "I swear it to you."

Then he noticed her closed eyes with alarm. "Hey!" "Come on, Kryss, stay with me!" Hoping that he wouldn't make things worse, he pushed off a large root with one foot, going into a forward flip to get her awake again. Just to make sure, he lightly bit on her ear closest to him after he landed. "No dozing yet, m'lady fair." "Once I know you're safe...but not until."

He raised his voice, calling out to Skyler. "Skyler!" "Kryss is losing consciousness!" "We've gotta pick up the pace!" It was risky...they could run blindly into Orcs at best, an Ogre at worst...but it was well worth the danger if it meant her safety.

Held on to him so tightly when he did the flip, didn't make me open my eyes though. "I'm fine, just need to close my eyes. Keep me talking...." words were cut short when he nipped at my ear.
"mmmm I like that Jas,"

Managed to open my eyes, to look deeply into his. Caressing his face with my fingers.

"You did me no wrong, you were in the heat of the moment with her. I saw it, besides what's done is done." Whispered, letting my hand slide down his chest ever so lightly.

"I so need sleep."

Jasleth

"You'll get it soon enough, just stay with me until you're cured." Jasleth was actually rather proud that he had kept the desperation out of his voice. Their pace had increased, Skyler giving a nod at his call. They all knew the potential hazard.

He returned his attention to the dancer. "I'll want you good and rested when you pay me back, after all." Keep her talking, what could he talk about? He shivered slightly when she touched his chest, her hands were cold...not good. Though he rather liked the feel of it otherwise. "If you don't mind...why don't you tell me about you." Worth a shot. If she didn't want to talk about this, she'd give him a topic. He hoped anyway. "Where did you learn to dance?" "Not only that, where'd you learn to picka pocket?" "Like I said, I've never seen a cleaner pick than yours."

Giggled alittle, " My father was the greasted rogue in the game, taught me how use my dances to steal things. The dances I learned from my mom." You were easy to pick from, though I was surprised to find such a dagger on a monk that can not use it." little smirk in my tone.

I started to shiver alittle, strange I wasn't cold yet feels like I am. Feels like I been standing in the middle of a snow storm.

"aye, I supose it would be best if I was full health to give you your payment, or at least private dance." kept my eyes closed the whole time we talked.

Skyler

She glanced back as Dominic stopped a moment; she caught what the Lizard had said. “Slip, be nice, or you won’t be a happy lizard.” She looked to Dominic and smiled briefly as she kept moving forward.

Morning was fast approaching, and with its approach she grew more nervous. She knew they were close to the town, but hopefully they were moving fast enough to make it through the space between the trees and the buildings. That was a problem with towns; the people seemed to build in clearings.

She kept moving, and picked up the pace when Jasleth mentioned Kryss seemed to be getting worse. Actually she had no clue how, but she thought she could feel that Kryss was getting slowly worse.

She was sure hoping that Dominic’s deafness was only temporary and that they could get Kryss help in time. “Jasleth, once we get to two it will be too close to dawn for me to wander about. I would prefer to save the item Geo gave me for when we are on our way again. Dominic has a room already and I will see to it we have it for the time we will need to stay in town.”

She glanced back and noticed how close they were becoming she smiled. “Well I can see to it that you two have a separate room. If you’d like?”

Then she realized that she was setting things up how she thought they should be, it was her own nature kicking in, the outside world pushing in on her personality more here in the game, or maybe it was just stress.

She looked to Dominic, she knew stopping was not a good idea but she wanted to try something. If she could talk to him directly it would be better than relaying through Slip.
She walked to him and stopped, she looked into his eyes and through her dominate ability, if he was immune to it, she should be able to speak with him.

She knew this wouldn’t be a good way to communicate if they were on the move, but for now it would be good. She knew if they got to town after sunrise she would stay in the woods or try to shape shift.

She hoped this would work, “Dominic… can you hear, well understand what I am saying to you?” She hoped it would work. She knew that if he resisted he wouldn’t be affected, higher intelligence creatures were hard to affect at her level. The strange thing about being caught in the game she could feel her abilities becoming more stable as the time passed.

Dominic

I rose an eyebrow as Skyler stared into my eyes intently. She didn't move and I was beginning to get creeped out.

Slip, what's she doing?

I think she's trying to use her dominate ability on you. The lizard said. I sighed.

"I don't think it will work. Being an Oracle gives me high mental ratings and dominate won't work on people who's powers rely on their minds." I shrugged, shaking my head. "I think we have to rely on Slip for now."

Whoa! Slip said suddenly. Did you hear that?

It wasn't funny the first time, it won't be funny the second. I said back to him.

I ain't kidding! I really heard something!

Listen, you long-tongued, sticky-toed, fly-eating... I was cut off as a rock pelted my head and sent me careening to the ground. I landed on the ground roughly, sending Slip flying.

A group of ten goblins jumped down from the trees, brandishing spiked clubs and rocks. They squealed and charged at us.

Skyler

Damn it wasn’t working… "I guess we will have to rely on him." Just then Dominic went down and several nasty little goblins jumped them. She hissed as they closed in on the group. There weren’t that many and seeing how Jasleth and Dominic had fought earlier, she knew they could handle this group.

She only hated the fact that the beasts were delaying their arrival into town. She grabbed the one closest to her and the nasty thing bit her arm. “That wasn’t too smart you little freak.” She slung it away from her and into a tree, where it fell stunned, if not out.

She tried to help Dominic up off the ground, where he was at a definite disadvantage. These things were way too stupid to be able to dominate and turn against each other. She pulled her sword and prepared to enter the fray.

Jasleth

Jasleth was about to respond to Skyler's quip when the goblins burst onto the scene. "Damn!" "We don't have time for this!" He held Kryss closer, "hold on tight Kryss, the ride is about to get bumpy."

The goblins slowed a bit as Jasleth charged them, still holding Kryss in his arms. What was the human doing? He should be terrified! Jasleth's first attack was a soccer kick that sent the lead goblin crashing back into his fellows, knocking three of them to the ground. As soon as his foot touched down, he spun into a roundhouse, catching an incoming goblin and splattering the thing's bulbous nose over it's face. He heard a whirring sound go past his ear as one of Dominic's throwing blades imbeded itself in another goblin's eye. He sent a powerful sidekick into the stricken beast, collapsing its ribcage. "One down for good, but the guys I knocked down are getting back up."

He leaped back into a somersault kick that brought him next to Skyler, sending another goblin flying back against a tree as both of Jas's feet caught it in the chin. This was taking too long. He only had one kick technique...and it would take a lot out of him. Kryss was worth it though, he would not risk her anymore, every second was precious.

He grinned, the savagely joyful smile that he customarily wore in combat. "Sorry to cut this short guys!" "I have something more important to attend to!" He took a moment to gather his ki...then leaped at the nearest goblin, releasing it. "Torrent of Fury!" He struck the creature's head, it's neck cracking under his full weight. He sprang from it into another, and anotehr, and another. He blurred as he leaped from target to target with inhuman speed. In The Gane as normal, the move allowed him to attack any number of enemies until he missed, then it ended. In a matter of seconds, he was back where he had begun, breathing heavily. The goblins flew through the air, some falling to the ground, some crashing into trees with terrific force. Only four got back to their feet, those moving with obvious pain and injuries. "Is...is that enough for ya?" His fatiuge from the using the move was apparent in his voice as he rose to face them. "You want some more?"

I held on tight to him through the whole thing. It was a strange experience thats for sure.

"The town is not far, if we just make a run for it the guards will kill these guys off. Newbies always train the gaurds when they can't handle things." speaking loud enough for all of them to hear me. Leas Jas and Skyler.

"The sun is starting to come up, we need to get Skyler out of here. These goblins are pansies, the guards will kill them in shot."
Trust me I know" Smirk at that last few words.

It's true every game has a newbie zone, every game has, well like this, has a place to run to when things get out of hand. We can not linger here any longer for Skyler's sake.

Dominic

I let Skyler help me up and I drew my quarterstaff. I began to swing it at the nearest goblin. It jumped back twice, but on teh third time, I jabbed it into it's stomach. It weezed, doubling over. On that, I brought the staff up quickly, cracking along the creature's chin. It flew through the air and landed roughly on the ground.

I turned around and saw Kryss saying something. Damn my deafness!

What's she saying, Slip?

Don'twannadiedon'twannadiedon'twannadie Slip said repeatedly. I sighed and decided to stay by Sklyer. That way she could help me if we have any problems.

"Back off, you green imps!" I yelled at the remaining horde.

Skyler

"Slip you must tell Dominic that were are going to run for town, and let the guards take care of these nasties. Tell him to follow now."

With that she touched Dominic's arm and tugged on his sleeve. To Jasleth and Kryss, "Kryss is right Let's go." Her words were sharp with an edge of nervousness in them.

She headed towards the town knowing they could easily outrun the goblins.

Jasleth

"....Roger that." Jasleth sneered at the remaining goblins, "Catch us if you can, ya weeds!" He let Skyler start moving, the vampire warrior tugging on Dominic's sleeve until the Oracle started running, and then began to run himself. The quartet dashed through the woods for several minutes, the hoots of the pursuing goblins falling slowly further behind until they vanished completely. "Wierd...usually a monster never lets you go until you zone or hit town." "They...they realized they couldn't catch us...so they stopped." "They can think." "Holy shit..." He shuddered at the potential consequences of that. If goblins were fighting smarter...what about creatures that were larger or smarter in the backstory?

He pushed the thought back, time for that later. Just then, they burst out of the tree line. Before them, the walls of Garnet Town stood, seeming to glow etherially in the lightening sky. The simple garnet banners flapped in the wind as the guards made their rounds. The littel group proceeded to run toward the main gate, when the guards stepped in front of them. "Hold!" "Stop and identify yourselves!"

Jasleth skidded to a halt. What the hell? Guards never stopped anyone before. Of course...they had been charging the gate. "Uh, Jasleth." "Look, can we cut this short, the lady is poisoned and needs a White Mage now."

The older of the two guards shook his head and stepped aside. "Let 'em pass." "Been a rough night for you adventurer types...you're not the only party to come back a few down." "Thought you were all pros."

Normally, Jasleth might have stayed but a tremble from Kryss got him moving. "Thanks!" He ran ahead, dodging carts and the few early risers. "This way, I've been to the Halls of Healing before!" They wound their way through the streets until they at last came upon the cathedral-like structure that served as the training center for the Game's greatest healing class. he gave Kryss a squeeze, "We made it." "You'll be okay..." "Just a few minutes more." He sprinted forward, kicking opent he massive oak door when he came to it. A few people in the trademark white robes with red trim jerked up as the party ran in. "Sorry about the door!" "We need a healer now!" "Kryss here has spider venom in her, and Dominic has been deafened." "Please help us."

A matronly looking woman strode forward, and pressed a hand to Kryss's forehead. "Tsk." "This will be close...another hour and the poor little duck may not have made it." She motioned for Jasleth to follow, "This will cost you some coin, for a poison that's run this long, it takes more effort." "Bring her along young man." "One of the other senior mages will attend to your other friends."

Jasleth looked back and nodded to Skyler and Dominic, "We'll meet back at the Inn." "Then after some rest...I think we need to find out what's going on." "Together." Then he jogged after the rapidly retreating White Mage.

Soon they came to a small room. The mage, who briskly informed Jasleth and Kryss that her name was Tavra, had Jasleth put Kryss down on a bed. "Good lad, now have a seat in the corner there." Tavra stepped over to Kryss's side. "This will take a few minutes, dearie, but you'll be right as rain then." The older woman began to chant in words that were forgotten as soon as they were heard and a pale blue glow began to pulse over Kryss. Jasleth watched from the corner, allowing himself to slumpo against it. Kryss would be fine...he was glad. It was surprising how much she meant to him already. Skyler and Dominic as well, though with Kryss...he felt a little stronger. Maybe it had to do with actually risking your life alongside others. As the healing magic began to take effect, Jasleth smiled as color returned to Kryss's drawn cheeks and her breathing became less labored. Things were looking up.

I managed to fight catch Sklyer's drift without Slip's intervention and ran after her. We entered the town after a little scuffle with the guards. I couldn't hear them, but I could tell Jas wasn't too keen on them. As we entered the town, Jas lead us right to the Hall of Healing, a place full of clerics and white mages.

We split up into two groups; Jas and Kryss went to one Cleric, Skyler and I went to another. We walked by many rooms filled with damaged people. It looked like weary adventurers realized what had happened and couldn't log out. I wondered how many others died in the wilderness last night.

As I sat down, the cleric known as Todd inspected my condition. After a few minutes, he sat back baffled. "I don't get it. It's a status ailment and everything, but I can't heal it. I have every healing move in the game and I still can't touch this!" He shook his head. "It's like the programmers put in the effect without creating an antidote."

Well, shit. Slip said.

Kryss~

I was on the verge of completely unconcious by the time we hit town, all the excitment and fighting stressed me out more than I had realized. I heard everything, least in they sounded distant. Even Jas who was holding me sounded distant.

Made things worse when he layed me down. Wanted to tell him * don't put me down, don't leave me.* but the words were silent. Couldn't even open my eyes to look at him for as all I know could be the last time. I felt something for him, don't know why. I never feel anything for anyone. I'm a thief, I have no use for feelings. Jas seems to bring that out, almost like he broke a wall or something.

Heard words that almost sounded familiar, ancient elven language. Almost understood it, had someone teach me awhile back some words and that was one of them. Sadly I was to out it to care. Saw a blue light breaking through the blackness, it started to wash over me. Like it was cleansing me or something.

Never opened my eyes, but Jas's name came from my lips just before I fell asleep.

"she will be M'lord, She is just tired now and needs some rest. She will be her normal self in the morning, or rather when she wakes up." the mage said softly and walked out the room..

Jasleth

Jasleth watched her go for a moment, then walked over to the bed. She'd said his name. Should he have stayed by the bed, let her know he was still there? He appraoched the bed, his eyes running over her slumbering form, noting with relief how easier she breathed now. And how nice it was just to watch her chest rise and fall. He kneeled down beside the reaching out and laying a hand lightly on hers. Her skin was warm again, and so smooth. The sound of footsteps caused him to look back tot he door.

A junior mage stood there, looking nervously at the much larger Jasleth. "I'm sorry sir, normally after a poisoning like that we'd let her rest here...but we've been so busy and we just got a few people who need immediate attention." "Tavra told me that she won't charge you because of this, but you can't stay here." "She says that the lady will not awake for a time, so you can carry her to an Inn and not interrupt the healing."

Jasleth wanted to punch the inoffensive little idiot out. Kryss needed to rest and they wanted him to schlep her over to an Inn? Still...if The Game had changed, maybe other people would need it more. He doubted the mages would ask this lightly. "Fine." "You'll show me the nearest exit, away from the incoming folks." "I will not have Kryss disturbed any more than necessary." He wanted to go find Dominic and Skyler...but they knew to meet him at the Inn. "Look, just point me inthe right direction,t hen go find the guys I came in with and tell them that Kryss is fine and we're going to the Inn to crash." "Got it?"

Jasleth heard the young man reply as he carefully slid his arms under Kryss and lifted her easily from the bed, holding her tight against his bare chest. "Sorry, m'lady fair." "I'll have to manhandle you a bit more." He padded out of the room and took the direction the young mage had indicated. On his way past rooms, he noticed that many had several people laid up in them. Some of it was bad...very bad. "Guess whatever is happening is is system wide." "First things first, investigate later." "Kryss is all that's important right now." A small corner of his mind piped up that she was the most important thing he would ever have, but he brushed it away. She'd just met him...and he knew he was an idiot.

He stepped out into the quiet street. The sun still had not risen, though it would not be long off, so few people were moving about yet. Good. At least he didn't have to worry about waking her. After a few mintues journey through the streets, he came to the Inn. The Innkeeper was just opeing the doors, looking as though he had just roused himself. The poor man was not up to haggling at that point of the morning, and Jasleth managed to get a room with littel difficulty.

It was small, but cozy. The bed was clean and it smelled as though flowers had been powdered and used to sweeten the air. He laid Kryss down onthe bed gently. Still asleep. Thank God. Jasleth pulled the covers up over her, lifting her head to slip the pillow under it. He watched her sleep for several minutes, before leaning over and placing a light kiss on forehead. "Sleep Kryss." "I'll be right here." "I won't leave you." He wanted to say more but just sat down beside the bed, leaning back against the wall. He listened to the rhythm of her breathing for a time before his own fatiuge lulled him into slumber himself.

Kryss~

I was out cold when he lifted me up, cept for my breathing one would think I was dead in his arms. Sleep felt so good, don't remember the last time I slept so soundly, hell even in RL I don't sleep that good.

After what seemed like forever finally starting to wake. Jas was on my mind, least in that dream you have right before waking up. Feeling warmth next to me, felt so real, that's strange that a body next to me felt this real.... this is a game.... Waking up alittle more coming into reality thinking back to the night. I had slept in game? Slept like I would if I was logged? How is that possible?

Thinking alittle more harder and further, that's right couldn't log or pause out. Looked over and saw Jas fast asleep next me, damn he looked good even when sleeping. Slid over closer to him very slowly and carefully to not wake him up. He had been carrying me all night he needed his rest. Curling up next to him, placing a hand and my head on his chest and going back to sleep. Least I made it look like I was sleeping. His heart, breathing, the feel of his soft, muscular skin felt remarkably real. Has it always been this real? Opening my eyes again to look up at his face, feeling his hair lightly running it through my fingers. Even his breath was warm.

I had to stop myself before I did wake him, placing my hand back on his chest, pretending I was asleep. Had to much on my mind right then to really sleep. Even started to wonder if other things were possible and if they were, would they feel just as real? Things like sex, making love, whatever people call it or do. Would that feel just as real as Jas does right here and now?

Wasn't planning on finding out, but the thought still remained none the less. After all we are able to be comepletly naked, as Jas and the archer proved, cussing is able to be. All of that never was, also no way did things feel this damn real.

Skyler

Once they got past the guards and into the city, they had headed straight to the Hall of Healing. She went to a room with Dominic and one of the clerics. She listened as this Todd said he couldn’t heal Dominic’s hearing. She could feel her agitation growing; she was tired of things going wrong.

She had a gut feeling that she should have listened to her friends when they told her she should give up on this game, and now it was too late, she was probably going to die here. She had no clue, if they died here if they would die in the real world or be booted out of the system. She of course hoped for the latter of the two.

Now Todd said that the programmers must have put in the effect and no antidote. “This sucks. Slip let Dominic know what Todd is saying. He needs to know. He may have to try his ability to get his hearing back, but then it may have worse effects if he does.”

“We need to get back to the Inn as well, dawn is getting too close. We’ll get his room for another night, I’m going to have to see if I can change forms to protect myself from the sun. I do not want to find out if I die here that I die in real life. If my change works, then I’ll be stuck till morning. Please Slip let Dominic know and see what he thinks we should do.”

Dominic

Hey boss. Slip said. Sklyer said she's gonna go morph into something for a while. Protect her from the sun or something.

Tell her it's fine. A good idea, I mean. I told him. I didn't feel like talking. After Slip relayed to me what Todd had said, I was feeling glum. No cure? And no way out of the game? What a load of crock.

I mean it can't be that hard to program an antidote, could it? I mean, I used to program things for games all the time and I...

Wait.

I used to make programs for games....I wonder if I could change the programming of this game...

I let my mind wander a bit and decided I should get some rest and ponder this tomorrow. As I got out of my trance I could hear Slip talking to Sklyer telepathically.

Sooo...why don't you transform yourself into an iguana, hmmm? A sexy lady iguana, perhaps?

I turned beet red. SLIP!

Skyler

She listened to Slip as he spoke to her. "Hey don't get any ideas." She kept her tone light and didn't sound as aggravated with him. "honestly I don't know what I'll be able to change into, it's random. I guess now is as good a time as any to try it, before the sun comes up."

She looked to Dominic once more."Slip tell Dominic I am going to try now."

With that she thought about the process of shifting forms, she willed herself to change, she knew her gear would automatically change with her as was the nature of the ability.

Within moments, she had shimmered and reformed into the form of a black ferret. She looked up to Dominic, who now seemed to tower over her. She hoped she could still talk to Slip. "Well Slip, it worked, but now I am stuck till darkness falls once more."

Dominic

Ewwww. Slip stuck his tongue out. A ferret? Why a ferret? That's the second most revolting and rediculous animal in the world?

The second? I asked.

Next to Falcons. Slip replied. I rolled my eyes.

"Well, I'm going to get to the inn room. If you want a ride, Skyler, crawl up into my backpack. God knows I'm used to carrying animals on my back."
