When RP takes control IC thread

Skyler

"Well that could cause trouble if it messed up them like that." She glanced to Jas as she continued to talk to Dominic. She smiled a moment showing the tips of her fangs as she did, she nodded ever so slightly as her slender hand went under her cloak, the where her katana hung at her hip.

She then waited for either Dominic or Jasleth to make their intentions known.

Jasleth

Jasleth inclined his head barely an inch, his ferocious grin returning. He closed his eyes, letting his Blind Fighting technique take over. Where was it? Around him he heard the sound of the wind, the rustle of braches, the scraping of the skin of Skyler's hand on the hilt of her weapon. He felt the breeze, the shifitng of air as branchse moved, the sudden shift of a low hanging branch as something shifted it's weight. There!

Eyes still closed, Jasleth darted back into the woods, one leap carrying him to the base of the tree, and another to the branch the creture sat upon. He launched himself at it, impressed that it made no noise of alarm, only tried to take wing. "Flyer huh?" "Let's see if he likes a little extra baggage." Jasleth felt his hands close around two legs, and felt a brief surge of satisfaction before the feathery creature hurled both of them from its perch, wings beating furiously but silently to keep aloft.

The two of them burst out fo the trees upon the road, Jasleth haning onto the talons of an emormous horned owl. The huge bird's yellow eyes were as big as one of Jas's fist, and the great wings blotted out the starry sky as they attempted to gain altitude. Jasleth's weight was too much though, it was only able to stay about 10 feet up, Jasleth barely clearing the ground as he hung on. "WHOA!" "A little help!"

Skyler

She watched as Jas moved intot he trees fairly quickly, she was abit shocked when she heard the sound of wings. She figured bird, but not a big bird, well at least not one big enough to be trying to fly away with Jas hanging from it's feet.

She released her hold on the hilt of the katana, and rushed forward to try and grab ahold of Jas, she ended up with a handful of his pants as the bird tried to gain altitude. She couldn't keep a strong grasp and felt her grip slipping.

"Dominic grab ahold if you can, I can't...hands slipping...." then she felt her hands slip from the cloth of his pants and she tripped and fell.

Jasleth

The addition of Skyler's weight drove the gigantic owl down further, Jasleth felt her grip on his pants giving way, "Damn!" "Up to me, I guess." As soon as he felt her hands slip, he kicked his legs forward, swinging toward the front of the bird. Another swing brought him more spped and a bit more distance, then another. The entire time time the still silent owl feverishly tried to maintain position and gain height despite the now quickly moving weight on its legs. On the next swing, Jasleth let go of it's legs, letting his body swing free, coming up upside down with his legs in front it it's face. It was with those legs that he struck, wrapping them around the thick neck.

The sudden loss and regain of weight, particularily when it had been close to the ground anyway, was too much for the owl. The pair plummeted to the earth, Jasleth striking first and losing his grip as he and the softly feathered beast rolled to a halt in the middle of the road. Shaking his head he sprang for it as it struggled to rise, slamming it back down again. "Gotcha!" "Now," he raised a fist, "Let's see how how your boss likes it when his bird doesn't come back!"

The owl's enormous eyes blinked once and a voice sounded in Jasleth's head.
"Man." "Jasleth." "I am not your enemy." Jasleth's fist halted in its descent...he could hear it, but not with his ears. The owl was talking in his mind! "All of you." "I am not a foe." "I was sent to watch, to aid if needed." "From Sanctuary."

Dominic

I picked Sklyler up and the two of us ran to Jas's aid. We caught up with Jasleth as he and the bird had landed. I heard his voice in my head, but after living with Slip, this was nothing uncommon.

I concentrarted on the birdman in my mind and brought up the crystal ball. I saw a vision of him at the Sanctuary.

"He's telling the truth." I said, still panting from the run. I leaned on my staff, regaining my balance.

Skyler

“Thanks Dominic.” She managed to say as he helped her to her feet and they rushed after Jasleth and the bird. They caught up as the two had landed in the middle of the road and it looked as if they were about to square off.

She looked to the bird as she heard it speaking in her mind. "All of you." "I am not a foe." "I was sent to watch, to aid if needed." "From Sanctuary."

"He's telling the truth." Dominic said, he was panting from the run.

As he leaned on his staff, she looked to him, and gently laid a hand on his arm. “Are you ok?” The short run had actually given her a slight boost in her mood, something like the adrenaline boost from a good chase. But when his eyes met hers, he would see a genuine concern there as well.

As they stood there, watching Jasleth and the huge owl, she was able to calm down and could feel her fangs retracting, and that she was thankful for, she didn’t want to make anyone to uncomfortable with reminding them of what she really was.

~OOc I'll be home thurs night.. YAYA... ~

Kryss~

I followed everyone else, pretty much quiet the whole time. Thinking of my dog, he's probably going insane with out me, god knows what he's been doing to the house. I ... we.. had to find a way out of this game, really hope Dom can find a way.

It didn't surprise that something was watching us, felt it since we left town. Figured that it was really nothing for it would have attacked us along time ago. Then Jas jumped him.. it.. first, for the first time I heard voices in my head. From the looks of it, it was talking to all of us in our minds, trying to make us realize what he wanted.

"Jas I think you hould let him go, let him speak. Obviously he is not here to harm us or he would have done it long ago. I have felt eyes upon us since we left town, I can only asume it is this one. If he wanted to hurt us, I am more than certain there would be more. " Speaking loud enough for JAs to hear me, whether or not he caught all of my words is a different story, but it should have been enough to bring them both down to where we stand.

Dominic

I nodded to Skyler, smiling at her concern. "Yeah...I'm doing fine." I said. "Just recovering from the sprint. Oracles were not made for cross-country." I looked back at her. "You okay? From the fall and all?" The question was needless; the look in her eyes told me everything.

I turned back to Jas and the owl and I approached the birdman. "Alright then. It's question and answer time." I said, kneeling by him. "Why is the sanctuary watching us? For that matter, how do they even know about us? And what exactly are you aiding us in?"

Jasleth

Jasleth was still staring at the giant horned owl in shock. Kryss's words threw the stun off. "Yeah...you're right, Kryss." He stepped back from the pinned bird, and bowed at the waist. "Sorry to have attacked you, but I don't like being spied on, whether you're from Sanctuary or not." "I don't want bad blood though, so I apologize." "Although, not to be rude, but I think Dom's right, you owe us an explanation."

The massive owl got to it's feet, it's eyes level with the monk's as it stared unblinkingly at them. "You were wise to do so." "The forest is dangerous." "More dangerous now." The voice sounded again in their heads, forcing attention. It was imposssible to read emotion in either the raptor's face or the distorted voice that rang in the heads of the companions. "Sanctuary watches because you will become important to the future." "A future...you must be watched to see which future your actions will make." "Through my eyes, the sages see." "Through my ears, they hear." "Once they have seen and heard, they will judge."

"Hey," Jasleth took a step forward, right hand outstretched. "Hold on." "What do you mean "a future?"" "And like Dom said, how does Sanctuary know about any of this?" "It's an NPC community...a plot point...it couldn't have been aware before the change." "Or is the change so wide spread that it works retroactively too?"

The owl's sauce sized eyes considered each of them in turn. "You know what has happened...or part of it." "You try to learn more." "You will discover the truth in time, and decide what happens to this reality." "Or you will die trying, it has been seen." The eyes rested on Dominic. "You have seen glimpses, and will see more." "Your power is the power of Sanctuary, the power to See...it is why the sages noticed you in the first place." Then the great bird ruffled its feathers, and clicked its beak softly. "Until we are sure of what destiny you will embrace, saviors or destroyers, Sanctuary will aid you but little." "Listen to what I say." "The Castle of the Pillars of Knighthood will not fall, though all around it does." "If you wish to learn the truth, it is there you must go." "There are things you must see and hear, people you must meet, if you are to face the crisis as you wish to." "When the time is right, Sanctuary will be opened to you, but you have other places to go before you come to it." "I will continue to watch, and aid if the sages deem it proper." With surprising speed, the gigantic wings unfurled and with two silent beats that stirred up dust the owl rose into the air. It flew in circles, higher and higher until it was barely visible as movement against the starry sky. "Though I will watch from a safer distance."

Jasleth had shielded his eyes with a hand when the bird had taken off. "Hey!" "Wait!" "You didn't answer our questions!" There was no reply, though and the speck that had been the owl continued to dwindle in his sight. "Damn it!" He clenched his fists. "...Just what we needed, because things weren't confusing enough."

He growled, glancing at the position of the moon. "I know we all want to talk about this, but we better do it onthe move." "We're on a time limit..." He grimaced at the others, "I don't think we'll get to the castle tonight, unless we can grab some transportation." "We can hole up in a waystation for a day if need be though." "What do you guys think?"

Skyler

She looked to Dominic, and smiled. “I’m fine, I’ve had worse falls.”

She stood back and watched as Jasleth and Dominic questioned the bird, then it spoke in their minds again. She thought about what it said a moment; the damn thing was speaking in riddles in a way. We’d either be saviors or destroyers, we’d get help or we wouldn’t.

“We should move on and quickly, so we can stop during the day if we need to. I am going to test my theory about being able to face the suns rays in my other form. If I can do that then we can still travel some during the day.”

“I guess I haven’t really been playing this game as long as I thought, does anyone know where to find this Castle of Pillars? I haven’t heard of it before now.”

As they took to the trail again, they continued to talk about the things the bird had said. “This is getting stranger, what I gather is we have the ability to figure out what is going on here. We can either fix it or not. We’ll be watched and if we choose a path other than the one they want us too we won’t be helped. I can guess, if we try to solve the problem to get out of here it will not be what the game wants us to do and will try it’s best to stop us.” She glanced upwards, “And now that we have company…” She didn’t finish her sentence; she hoped the others would understand what she meant. She knew that now they wouldn’t be able to talk as freely.

Jasleth

"...We have to watch what we say." "At least in the open." He shook his head. "Beautiful." "Far as the Castle..." He tought for a moment. "In the game's backstory, the Beolve family is famous for producing knights and supporting a knightly order, The Order of the Golden Griffen." "The family's been called "Pillars of Knighthood" before...so I guess we're going the right way at the moment."

He continued to scan the tree line as they jogged on, painfully aware of the owl's comment of how dangerous the forest was now. "It may just be something I ate...but I have a gut feeling that these Sanctuary guys might not be on The Game's side." "No proof fro that, it's just a hunch, and I have been wrong before." "Still...I guess we should keep them and their bird at arm's length until we know for sure." He gtrimaced again, speaking quietly. "Whatever's going on, it just got a lot more complicated." "I just hope the owl's right and we find a few answers at the Castle."

Dominic

I followed along, grimacing at the bird's words. Watching me? Because I am a seer, they seem to be able to track me down.

"Good idea. That babble of seer's can probably pick me out of a crowd with little effort. I don't like being a target for people I don't know about."

I noticed that the night was ending soon. The moon would be sinking soon. "I think Jasleth is right." I said. "We should get to shelter before the sun rises. Does anyone know where the nearest one is?"

Skyler

"That I don't know, I am pretty familiar with the town back there, but not the surrounding areas."

She looked to Jasleth. "You seem pretty knowledgeable, you think you know of a place we could hide out during the day?"

Jasleth

Jasleth took a moment to look around, getting his bearings. He'd spent most of his game time in this area, so he knew it fairly well. "I think so." "It may be a little far to the waystation I mentioned, we got a later start than we should have, I guess." He made a "tsk" sound. "However...there are a few abandoned huts just a few miles from here." "They were put into the Game as background, nothing ever was in them." "They should work out all right." "They aren't onthe maps though...so you'll just have to follow me."

Jasleth lead the group down the road as the moon continued to sink. They were making good time, but it would still be close. After about two more miles, he turned aside into the woods. The sky was beginning to get light as they came upon the huts. They were small, rude affairs. The walls were of then weathered wood, the roofs of grimy thatch. Tanned hides hung in palce of proper doors, and there were no windows.

Jasleth ran ahead and lifted the flap on the largest one. "Empty!" "Guess nothing has had the chance to move in since things started to change." He grinned back at the group. "Luck is on our side this time." He let the flap fall down, and stepped back. "Choose your bunks guys." "I'm going to keep watch out here until the sun's fully up." "Just in case."

Skyler

She nodded as Jasleth mentioned the huts, since he thought the way station was too far to get there before full sunrise. “Anything would be better than being out in the open during the day. I don’t want to find out the hard way that my other form isn’t immune to the sun’s effects.”

The group followed Jasleth along hurriedly. She felt this bad feeling of unease as the sky began to lighten. It was all she could do to stand there and wait as he checked the huts, she had this urge to push him out of the way and just get out of the coming light. Once he had cleared them, she almost ran into one of them. Ok she was finding out there were a lot of drawbacks to being a vampire in this game, first the blood drinking and then the fear of the sun. So much not like her real personality, she loved the outdoors, and this hiding during the day was going to be hard on her.

She got into the hut; she hadn’t even thought about it, she turned to see if she was alone or would they pair off like in the Inn, she found herself hoping they would. She was beginning to like Dominic, he seemed like a nice person, and this glitch in the game was bringing out their RL personalities of that she was sure. It was pushing her to make changes in hers, especially with these new fears, and she was starting to hate it.

She wanted the game fixed, but then that would mean possibly losing contact with her new friends, oh yeah they could always still adventure together, but she was sure that once they were out of this, they would probably never touch anything like this again.

She heard a rustling behind her and turned to see Dominic entering the hut. She smiled, “So you decided to stick it out with me today? I’ll either be asleep soon or a panicked mess.” She in fact couldn’t hide it in her eyes. She could feel the sun rising and the panic inside of her as well.

She looked towards the door. “Well I guess the sun will be up soon, I’m going to go ahead and test my other form and see if the sun effects me or not.” She dropped her pack to the floor, so it would be available to the others during the day. She smiled nervously, “Just be prepared to act quickly if I run back inside with my fur on fire.” She tired to laugh a little, but even though she was trying to joke it didn’t come out like she wanted.

She looked around, at least the windows and door was covered so would provide shelter, maybe not quite as dark as she would like, but there was always Dominic’s pack if Slip would share. She was sure she could push some things out of her to make room. “Ok… I’m going to do this. I know I’ll have to wait until tonight to change back. Hopefully I can wake before sunset to be able to see if I can control the change.”

She then went through her shift and once changed to the ferret, she hesitantly moved towards the door, light was now coming in at the edges of the hide. She stopped just on the edge of a line of sunlight, she looked back to Dominic briefly before quickly slipping out the door. “Dominic, it works… The sun is warm, but not burning.” She sounded happy that something had worked right, but then again there was a very sleepy quality to her voice.

OOC - On Armphid's behalf

You guys -

I just [ well, maybe just not ] got an e-mail from Armphid-mun saying that his internet is down, and probably won't be up until this Saturday.

Sorry y'all

Dominic

I smiled as I saw Skyler's ferret form move happily about in the sun. I knelt down by her and enjoyed the warmth that we were recieving. For something digitally programmed, the sun felt unbelievabley real.

I could tell she was getting sleepy and fatigue was getting to me as well. I laid back in the grass, smiling as the sun hit me. I leaned over and noticed that Skyler was asleep. I realized we were still very open to attack, so I lifted her furry body up in my arms gently and carried her off into the hut. I sat down on my bed and placed her on my pillow, stroking her fur softly.

I wonder why she thinks she has to keep whatever's going on between her and Jasleth secret? I mean, Jas purposely sent me and Kryss away when Slip had overheard them. I could see how Kryss could become jealous, but not me...

.....

...I'm not the jealous type. She doesn't have to worry about me. If that's what she wants, I won't try and stop her. I'll remember to bring it up with her later.

I opened my pack up and reached in grabbing Slip. The lizard groaned as he awoke.

What's the deal? It's sleeping time. He groaned.

Not now, Slip. It's expirement time.

Oh right. My turn to be a guini pig, right? Slip growled. The I heard him sigh. Yeah, yeah. I know. It's important. Alright, try and make it quick.

I looked at Slip and tried to think of him as just lines of code. But he was so real-looking, it made it near impossible. I didn't even know where to start.

Well?

"I'm not even sure what I need to do. I don't know what to look for."

Then I'm going back to sleep. Wake me when you know what you're doing. He crawled up alongside me and fell back to sleep. I sighed and pinched the bridge of my nose. This was going to be tough. Maybe...the future has something to tell me.

I closed my eyes and envisioned Slip in my mind. Let's see what his future is...

Slip's sad eyes looked off into nothingness as he clung protectively to the shoulder of a stone statue. A staute that looked exactly like me. Leaves cluttered along the stone feet of my replica.

Well, that's odd....why would I have a statue, especially one so detailed? I just shrugged it off. I laid down on the bed and placed still the still sleeping Skyler onto my chest. I stroked her fur softly until I drifted off to sleep. The future was not important right now...

Skyler

She stretched out on Dominic's chest and fell into a deeper sleep in the warmth of the hut and the comfort of his hands on her fur.

She felt herself being pulled back to consciousness as the sun began it's decent. At first her movements were slow and lazy, then as the skies darkened outside, she felt the change in herself. Slowly at first, she began the change back to her human form. Pulled quicker and quicker into wakefulness by a deafening sound.

She opened her eyes once she had fully shifted and found herself laying fully on top of Dominic, her head against his chest, his heartbeat strong in her ears. It was almost as if she could hear his blood rushing through his veins. She lay still not wanting to wake him.

Slowly at first then with the building speed of a runaway train she could feel a need deep inside, not the need for sex, but for something stronger, the need to satisfy a deeper hunger within.

She shifted slightly trying to move away as quickly as possible, without waking Dominic. She could feel his pulse stronger with each passing moment, and her fear grew as her fangs distended, she knew she had to get away.

Dominic

The sudden loss of weight caused me to stir in my sleep. My eyes flittered open. Slip was still by my side, but Skyler was gone. I looked arounf the hut. Jas and Kryss were passed out on one of the beds next to us. I glared at him. Playing two women at once...some monk he is.

I got up and moved to the doorway. I stepped out onto the wet grass. Dew drops formed on my bare feet as I walked out into the open field. I could see Skyler was sitting on a large rock a few feet away. I walked over to meet her.

She was breathing pretty heavily, as if trying to get ahold of herself. I walked over and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Skyler...are you okay?"

She whipped around in surprise. I could see her fangs were fully distended and there was an odd look in her eyes. I backed off a little bit. She was really beginning to look like a vampire.

Skyler

She heard Dominic approach and did her best to control the urge to look up at him, she was fighting for control of what she was becoming.

She spun as he laid his hand upon her shoulder, and stood backing away from him. "Dominic... stay back... I...." She clenched her jaw as she fought the sound of his heartbeat and the sound of rushing blood.

She turned and ran once more heading for the trees, she disappeared quickly into the darkness. There was a sudden scream and then it seemed that all was silent even back where Dominic stood in the clearing........

Dominic

"SKYLER!" I yelled after her. Bloody hell! What was going on? I quickly ran back to the hut and grabbed a lantern. I lit it and ran back outside. Where did she go?

"SKYLER!" I called out again. No response. Worry began to take over.

I don't think the dead appreciate you waking them. Slip yawned from behind me. The iguana crawled up to my feet. What's going on?

Skyler ran off. I said simply. I think she could be hurt.

She's a vampire. I'm sure she can handle herself.

I'm still going to look for her. I said. I began to move out into the woods. After a few feet into the forest, Slip stopped me.

Wait. I might be able to pick up her scent. He said and scrried up my back onto my shoulder. I blinked. He was going to help me? That's so...unSlip-like. The iguana turned and shrugged. Well, what are you waiting for? Are we rescuing the damsel in distress or what?

I nodded and entered the woods, holding the lantern out ahead of me.

Skyler

She had only run a short distance when she was hit from the side, in her flight to avoid hurting Dominic she hadn't noticed her surroundings, she hadn't sensed the intruder.

She recognised the man as she spun to face him, "What are you doing here?" She was only answered by the raising of his hand and a flash of pure intense blue light. She screamed as it hit her and flung her backwards into a tree, then she collapsed, stunned by the pain.

She looked up to him as he approached, she tried to move away but seemed held in place. "First things first, I believe this is mine." He reaches down and pulls her cloak from her shoulders.

"Now for the return of my advance payment for your not having killed the Oracle like agreed." He did not hear the rustle in the bushes behind him as he drew the sword. Skyler looked as if she was trying to move away, but couldn't, her fangs were gone in her fear to escape this man and what he intended to do to her....

Dominic

I think she went this way. Slip said, nodding in another direction.

"Are you sure? I think we've been traveling in circ-" My words were cut off as I heard Skyler's yell. "Skyler!" I said to myself and I rushed off to see what was going on. I came behing a bush and I saw a man next to Skyler.

"First things first, I believe this is mine." He said, stealing her cloak. Does she know this guy? Did she ever mention who gave her that cloak? My mind tried to recall all my older memories.

"Now for the return of my advance payment for your not having killed the Oracle like agreed." The man growled.

All recollection of old memories suddenly ceased. My mind sputtered, then proceeded to collapse on itself. Kill the oracle...she was hired to kill....me?

I KNEW it! Slip growled. I knew that shit from day one! Never trust a pale fanged woman!

"Kill...me?" I whispered, still stuck on the fact.

C'mon, boss. Let's ditch this two-faced blood sucker. The iguana said bitterly.

"No...that's not it." I said, shaking my head. It made no sense. Why...? How could she....?

Let's go! Slip told me, impatiently.

"No. I have to stop this guy...he wants me dead." I stood up and jumped out of the bushes, slamming my staff into his back. I tried to avoid eye contact with Skyler.

"If you want something done right you should do it yourself." I said to him. "You have three seconds to explain yourself before I unleash some very unsightly spells."

Kryss~

I heard some unsatisfying sounds from outside, slipping quietly from Jas's arms and silently followed Dominic. I was a few feet behind not wanting to distrupt what was going on. If it wasn't serious I would turn back, if itwas serious then there was no getting rid of me.

From the look on Domic though it was serious. Suddenly I saw him peering out from the bushes as if he saw or heard something that displeased him. Had a horror look to him. I got alittle closer to see what it was, climbing into a tree where no one can see nor hear me. I heard and saw what shocked him. She was here to kill him? what the hell that all about? And this guy, who on this god awful earth is he? I have seen him around a few times, but nothing to know him by. In fact come to think of it I've seen him in the crowds I steal from.

No matter he had no business doing or saying the things he was, whether it was true or not, didn't matter. I slipped out of the tree when Dom started to talk to him, sneaking through the bushes up to Skyler. Wanted to ask her if she was ok, but that would have been a retarded question at this point.

"Can you move? What did he do, I might be able to remove the spell. Maybe." Whispering like the wind in the trees, making it to where only skyler can hear me. I knew a few tricks to get me by, seeing how Dominic had this guy preoccupied, I was able to get around in hopes he won't see me. I wanted to know more, I didn't trust at first, then she seemed to care about me when I was sick. Was that all just an act? Was she playing head games with us all?
All I knew is I needed to help her now, questions later.
