When RP takes control IC thread

Skyler

She moved to sit on the bed next to him. She looked to him; “I guess he thinks since I worked for him, that I belong to him. I have noticed he is a bit possessive. He really has nothing over me, but I guess he figures I owe him for the cloak and the advance payments on the jobs I haven’t done and now definitely won’t do.”

“He is a real creep. He’s a pretty high level player as well. I joined when the game was new but didn’t have lots of time to play not with my job, or I might have been of a higher level as well. Hopefully he won’t come back. Not if he knows I have help against him. He is somewhat of a coward, I’m sure that’s why he ran when Kryss appeared.”

She then got up and went to her pack, she had with the distractions been able to push her hunger aside, but now it was demanding her attention again. She opened her pack and pulled out her canteen, she shook it before opening it, turned away from Dominic and took a drink. She then quickly spit the contents back into the canteen. Speaking softly as she dropped it back into her pack. “Great. Spoiled.” She sighed and turned back to Dominic. “I have to go out a bit. I think it is safe enough now, Dirk should be long gone.”

Jasleth

Jasleth would have held the kiss for longer, but Kryss's words before she kissed him had stolen most of his breath. God...she loved him? He knew that he felt strongly for her...but was it love? He'd been burned in love before...or Kyle had. But wasn't he Kyle? He knew what he wanted to say, what he should say, but even as he broke off the kiss he wasn't sure if he could say it. Worse yet, he wasn't sure he would mean it if he did say it.

He gaveher a tender smile, looking into her eyes as he spoke. "I've fallenf or you too Kryss." "I...never thought I would feel so much, so fast for anyone." He sighed, "I've been thinking about what will happen when the Game is fixed too." The doubt he had been feeling about the very idea was now apparent in his wine red eyes. "...I feel bad about saying it...but I've actually been wondering if I want it to be fixed." "In large part because of you...I don't want to be seperated from you either." He ran a hand throught he glory of her hair. "As strong as we both feel...I guess we'll just have to see whenthings get back to normal." "I don't want to give it up...but...Kyle...I...I'm not the same as Jas is." He cast his eyes down, feeling a bit embarrassed. "He...Or I guess that's I again isn't it?" "I'm having a hard time deciding which is me..." "Sorry, I'm off track." He raised his eyes back to hers, one hand coming up to run down the line of her jaw to her lips. "The point is...I want you in my life." "Here, or in RL." Not sure of what to say further, he leaned forward and kissed her again, the hand not in her hair resting inthe small of her back as he pulled her to him.

Dominic

I saw her take a drink from the canteen and then heard the liquid dribble back in. I heard her mumble something incoherently. I realized she had to drink.

"Do you want me to..." I stopped. No, of course she didn't. "Are you sure? I don't want him to get you. And if my vision is correct, the rogue mages are still out there."

I bit my lip slightly, trying to think. "Um...if you need blood, I can...I can give you some. If just to hold you over for tonight."

I heard a faint yelp from the backpack and the scampering of feet, but I closed it quickly before Slip could get out.

b]Skyler[/b]

She turned to look at him as he spoke. “I forgot about the vision. It might not be safe to go out and you probably wouldn’t want to see that anyway.”

She looked to the floor and then back to him again as he offered her some of his blood. She also heard Slip’s reaction to Dominic’s offer. “We could, it wouldn’t take much and I wouldn’t hurt you, I swear.” She seemed hesitant in really wanting to accept his offer, but she knew it would get worse if she didn’t drink soon, she also knew if she drank from him it would last longer than just this one night.

“There are two ways we can do this, I will let you choose. You can cut your wrist and put it in a cup or I can drink from your wrist and the effects will stay with me longer that way.” She let her eyes meet his.” It’s your choice though, because I can go hunt. I’ll just have to be very careful with the monsters and now your vision mages running around out there somewhere.”

Dominic

I winced visibly. "Cut my wrist?" I asked. I saw her look become unsure, and I banushed any other hints of worry. "I don't want you to get hurt out there. If this is what it takes..."

I rolled my sleeve up and picked up a throwing dagger from my belt. I was shaking, but didn't let it deter me. "Get ready. Once I cut it you can drink right from the vein." I took a deep breath and sliced across the wrist. Pain surged through my body. Christ...that hurt more than I thought it would. I flet the warm blood dribbling down my wrist and I quickly held my hand out toward Skyler, biting my lip to keep from yelling.

Skyler

Once he had cut his wirst and the smell of fresh blood filled the hut, she moved closer to him. She took his wrist in her hands and raised it to her lips. As she began to drink, the pain lessened and was replaced by a different feeling, a more pleasurable one.

She only drank just enough to sate her hunger and then as the feeling of pleasure grew almost unbearable she stopped, licked his wrist and sat beck, looking into his eyes. Her voice was not more than a whisper when she spoke. "Thank you Dominic. That mean't alot to me, that you were willing to trust me with your life just then."

When he looked to his wrist there was only a very slight red mark where he had ran the blade across the skin and there was no pain. She looked to him and smiled, she even looked a little better, more refreshed and alive so to speak.

Dominic

My eyes closed and I almost let out a soft moan. All the pain that had come along with the cut had vanished with a wonderful pleasure. I wanted her to continue to drink from me; it felt so wonderful.

But she pulled away and I let reality wash over me again. She sat back and thanked me. I smiled and placed my hand on her leg, happy to see here looking normal again. "I trust you with more than my life Skyler." I said softly.

This is getting too kinky for me. Slip grunted from the backpack. I think I was more comfortable when you were fingering her. With that, he snorted and retreated to the back of the sack. I sighed.

"Ignore him." I said to her and laid down on the bed. I motioned to Skyler to lay down next to me. "It's a cold night, and I don't think we will be traveling at all tonight."

Skyler

She noted Dominic’s sigh and thought it must be Slip again. She was glad that she couldn’t hear his every word. She watched as he lay back on the bed and motioned for her to join him. She climbed into the bed beside him, facing him. “Yes it is cooler after the rain.”

She reached out a slender hand and touched the side of his face. “I’m really sorry for this.” She touched near the cut on his face. “I wish he hadn’t got me with that spell, I could have stopped him from attacking you like that.”

She then brushed a stray hair out of his face and smiled softly. “I don’t want to leave and go out on my own, I want to stay here with the group.. with you. I’m beginning to think I don’t even want to return to my real life, but in time I know we have to.” She then kissed him, her lips felt warmer now as well as a result of her feeding from him.

She didn’t know where the rest of the night would lead; she placed her hand on his chest, moved closer into his arms. Just content in this moment to be close to him, she wanted more of him, but after what had happened she was afraid of what he would think of her actions, so she just laid there in the dark of the hut and listened to the dripping of water off the roof. She would let him decide where he wanted the night to go and she would follow.

Dominic

"I know what you mean." I nodded. "After all we've been through, I feel closer to you guys than anyone I know outside the game. Jas is like a brother to me, Kryss is like a best friend and you..." I turned and met her lips. They were still warm from her feeding and felt as soft as velvet. I inhaled her breath and my mind filled with her scent. I somehow managed to pull far enough away from her lips to speak.

"Skyler...when you were talking about our encounter in the inn room and you told me it was because you wanted to be with me...did you mean it? I mean, really mean it?"

Skyler

She let her eyes meet his there in the dark of the hut. She did not remove her hand from his chest as she spoke quietly. "Yes, I really meant it. Right now I just wish we could find a way to stay safe here in the game."

She sighed softly, "But I know eventually we'll get this figured out and probably go our separate ways... I kind of hope we don't though. I really did mean it about wanting to be with you."

I had to giggle alittle at his words, of course he wasn't like his chara. Hell no one is like the chara they played, for all I knew this could have been a female irl. Though I knew he wasn't just by the way he acts sometimes.

"just tell me your not a fat perved old man, and I'm sure we'll work something out m'love." I said teasingly.
Even giggled alittle more at my own words. Light touches caressed his neck, playing in his hair. My other hand sneaking under his shirt, reaching to feel his soft, wonderous skin. Longing to feel his skin against mine again. Nails caressing his chest, letting my leg wrap around him as the skirt slides up alittle exposing more skin.

"I want to be with you always, here or irl as well. M'love. I am nothing like kryss here either, I' live a lonely life, and is extremely shy. Kryss here isn't shy, she is something I want to be."

Relishing in his kisses again, they become a little faster as does my breathing. Lust and passion filled eyes.

Jasleth

Jasleth chuckled into a kiss. "With how I've been acting lately...I don't know about perved, but I check out on the rest of it." He took a moment to move away from her, shrugging off his vest, then the silk shirt underneath before gathering her in his arms again. "Lord..." he purred as her nails bit lightly intot he skin of his chest. "Your touch is just...unbelievable." He slid a hand down to her exposed leg, caressing her smoothness before gliding it under her skirt to stroke her inner thigh. His heart hammered against his ribs as her hands slowlt drifted lower on his body.

Dominic

"Yeah...I want to be with you too Skyler." I smiled and brushed some hair out of her eyes. "Maybe...I can finally get that chance..." I moved my hand up her leg and squeezed her upper thigh. I moved closer to her and pressed my lips to hers. I closed my eyes and took in her intoxicating scent. I just wanted this moment to last.

Hey, Boss!

Dammit. What is it Slip?

There are some guys outside the hut and they look PISSED. The iguana said from his perch at one of the windows. I gave Skyler a weary look and reluctantly moved from the bed, grabbing my backpack. I looked out of the window and saw three men and one woman in deep red cloaks standing in front of the hut on the oppisite side as Jasleth and Kryss. And Slip was astute, they indeed looked pissed.

I stepped out through the back door, motioning to Skyler to stay out of sight. "Why are you lurking outside my hut?" I asked.

"Don't act ignorant!" The tall man said. "We knows you got a vamp in there."

"Yeah! Give her up!" A fatter one said.

As I thought. It's those damn rogue mages. I surveyed them and I could see they were carrying multiple weapons specializing in vampire hunting. And I bet at least one knows a Cast Light spell. "Who fed you that rubbish?"

"It don't matter! Alls he said was a vamp was here and we's going to get rid of her!" The tall man said again.

"Look, I'm going to give you to three to get the hell off my property." I glared.

"Don't get in our way. We will get rid of you too for harboring a dangerous creature." The woman stated.

"One..."

"Don't push us, Seer."

"Two...."

I didn't get to three. The tall man thrusted his arms out and released a fireball at me. I held out my hands, ready to use a counter spell.

"Reflect!" I shouted. The fireball bounced off me harmlessly back at the mage.

"Fuck!" He shouted as the fireball struck him. His clothes and skin burst aflame. The other mages jumped aside in surprise. The third man growled and grabbed a knife from his belt. With a grunt he hurled it at me. I dodged it as it stuck in the wall of the hut.

"Whew!" I said, looking at the dagger that nearly got me in the face.

Christ Boss! Slip shouted from my shoulder. Watch it!

"Huh?" I replied, turning around in time to see a grey beam fire from the woman mage's hands and strike my chest. "Oh sh-!"

And the was the last I knew.

Slip

Slip looked over from his position on Dominic's shoulder. The grey light had blinded him for a second and he wondered what had happened to Dominic. That was when he noticed he wasn't on the normal cloth of Dominic's shirt. He was sitting on raw stone.

He looked down at Dominic's body. He was frozen in place, made completely out of rock like a statue. His face had the same shocked expression it had when he saw the beam coming at him.

Boss? The lizard asked worridly. Boss what's wrong? This isn't funny. I can't...I can't read your mind anymore. Did you shut me out? No response. C'mon. Say something boss. Do or say something. Please? But the only noise was the wind. Dominic didn't move.

"Alright! Let's get that vampire!" The fat man said. Slip turned his eyes on the trio angrily. He opened his small mouth and let out a scream.

"100101011000111100010101010100011100101"

The mages stopped to cover their ears but it was too late. Their bodies began to dissapate and they broke down into multiple digits of ones and zeros until they were gone completely, melded into the scenery.

Slip sagged and looked back over to Dominic. There was still no response. No sign of life at all. Dejectedly, the iguana crawled into the backpack that still rested on Dominic's back and coiled up in a corner, whimpering to himself softly.

Leaves cluttered at Dominic's stone feet.

Skyler

She watched from the hut in horror as Dominic faced the mages. She realized they were the rogues that he had seen in his vision.

She almost panicked when the fireball was thrown, and amazed when it was returned to the mage who threw it. There was no time to respond as the second man threw a knife barely missing Dominic. She noticed the look on his face as he looked to the knife and noticed how close it had come to getting him.

Then as he turned back to the woman, she noticed the grey beam as it left the woman’s hands and hit Dominic square in the chest, he froze.

She ran for the door, and had just about made it outside when she heard this horrible noise. It was so loud as to be almost deafening, it was enough to knock her off her feet. She covered her ears and waited for it to stop as she had no choice but to wait she couldn’t get back up.

Once the sound died down, she stood and continued forward, the mages were gone. She looked to Dominic, and somehow managed to stifle her scream as she realized he had been turned to stone.

She stepped up to him, Slip was now nowhere to be found, and she was too worried about Dominic to look for him. “Oh god Dominic.” She reached out and touched his face as tears rolled down her cheeks. “We’ll figure out how to get you back…..Somehow.”

Kryss ~

With my hand down jas's pants, sudden shouts and screams broke the mood.

"What the hell was that?"

Then that piercing scream seemed to come from no where. Forcing me to curl up against jas. Once it was gone stood up only to see Dominic turned to stone, Skyler crying, and slip? Slip? Noticed he was on the backpack, curled as if he was looking for warmth of the statue.

"This is not good. Not good at all." I don't know if I have a spell to counter act this or not. Never had to deal with stone curse? If it was a curse I migt be able to break it."

Tears wanted to reach out, wanted to release from my eyes. One of us had to be strong. There's no time to cry at time like this.
Thinking of one of my spells that may possibly work, began to dance around Dominic, it was nothing like a happy dance. It was slow, very slow. Chanting a song of a language unheard of from most, one of dark elven ancient.

Something that was taught to me long ago. Took sometime to remember every single step and word, once I got it down, it would work. Should work. As long as his familiar was still alive. Wait a minute slip still alive? There had to be some life in dominic still. If he was dead, slip should not be, less it was another bug in the game. None the less, the familar would have died where he stood. This only made me concentrate harder, hopeing there was still some hint of life, even if that life was Slip, it was connected to him somehow, in someway.

Jasleth

Jasleth merely watched the two women, stunned into silence. The incredibly detailed statue that had been Dominic stood in silence, Skyler touching her head to as Kryss desperately tried to use her healing dance to break the spell. Jas clenched his hands into fists, rage surging through him. Rage, frustration at his uselessness now, and a terrbiel guilt. He had known that they should be watchful, that the forest was dangerous. He had let his guard down...and Dominic had paid the price. "My fault..." He whispered the words, his knuckles white. "It's my fault."

He turned away, unable to watch Kryss's futile attempt any longer. Shoulders shaking with fury at the mages and himself, he stalked to the edge of the clearing. He couldn't think straight, there was a bitter taste in his mouth, a ringing in his ears. He let the anger spiral up, snarling into the darkness, his hands shaking with impotent rage. Feeling about to burst, his eyes snapped open, and he screamed. A savage cry of fury, hate, and loss that tore through the silence of the woods, and drew startled looks from his remaining companions.

A towering oak loomed over him, and needing the release he attacked it. A tree of this size would have stood for hundreds of years in the real world. Jasleth's power and anger had smashed it into kindling in about 30 seconds. "DAMN THEM!" DAMN ME!" "DAMN THIS WHOLE FUCKING WORLD!" Fists and feet flew, splitting the massive trunk into sections, shattering branches even as they rained down around him. "Whoever is behind this, I'll kill you!" "You won't escape me!" He screamed again then, standing int he middle of the debris, his arms thrown back, his face upturned to the cold night sky. He held that pose for a few seconds, then fell to his knees, the anger draining away, leaving him feeeling weary to his very bones.

Jasleth took a few deep breaths of the cool air. All right, the emotion was dealt with for now. Time to handle the situation itself. He stood again, walking back to the others. There was not race of his usual humor in his face, his wine red eyes were hard and cold. "We have to get to the Castle as fast as possible now." His eyes and voice softened as he caught Kryss's eyes. "Kryss...stop." "It won't work, love, I'm sorry." Guilt was etched over his face as he turned his gaze to Skyler. "Someone at the Castle might be able to undo this...or point us in the right direction." "I'm sorry Skyler...I should have been watching." Jasleth laid a hand on her shoulder and gently pushed her away from Dominic. "I owe you the biggest apology, Dom." "Don't worry...we'll get you healed." He then tipped the petrified Oracle over, catching him as he fell, and lifting him off the ground.

"No time to waste." "I can carry Dom." His eyes were hard again, his back stiff as he started to walk toward the road. "Let's go."

Skyler

She was broken from her stunned silence by Jasleth’s yelling and tearing up the tree. She looked his way, her hand dropping from Dominic’s face. She watched in silence as she noticed Kryss dancing around her and Dominic, she knew the woman was trying to heal him, but she didn’t think that would work against a spell of this type.

Then she heard Jasleth approach, and turned her gaze upon him. “It’s not your fault this has happened, I am sure Dirk sent those mages after me. The same thing would have been done to any of you that confronted them, of that I am sure. We can’t blame ourselves for this.” She said it even though she didn’t believe it, she had heard the mages speak and knew that if she hadn’t have been here they would have found her elsewhere and then Dominic wouldn’t be like this, he would be ok.

“Go on I’ll gather the packs and catch up. It’ll only take a minute.” She quickly moved inside the hut and grabbed their things, then headed out and after Jas and Kryss. She was easily able to carry their packs as they moved at a decent pace.

“I hope there is someone at the castle that can reverse the spell, and if there isn’t they should know where to send us.” She paused a moment. “We’ll figure this out and get Dominic back and then together we’ll figure out this damn game and get out of it.”

She still really didn’t want to leave the game and Dominic, but if they were able to get him back, she would talk to him about what the possibilities of them meeting maybe after they got out of this mess. She was really beginning to care for him, and if he was anything like his in game personality, he seems like a pretty nice guy, but then again he could be some old married guy, just playing this game for a break in his life. She sighed at her thoughts. Oh well she figured she would ask anyway, it would be better to know than not to know.

Kryss ~

I had stopped dancing almost right before Jas told me to not bother. That's when the tears started to fall. It was pointless. Not powerful enough to remove this kind of curse. Or having the right spell to do it.

"Poor Slip, wish there was something we can do for him."
He was like in a coma, state of shock that could not be broken.

"Carry Dom carefully, I know you will anyway, but slip is on his back and I seriously doubt it would be a good idea to move. Doesn't look like he will budge anyway."

At first I was going to help Skyler carry the packs, suddenly feeling useless. Instead went after Jas and followed in silence.

Skyler

She kept up easily with Jasleth even though his carrying Dominic was slowing them down they would make good time. "Jasleth, how long do you think it'll take to get there? Before morning, I am not too familiar like I said with the area."

She was hoping that they would get there before sunrise, so she wouldn't have to burden Kryss with the extra packs. She was worried about Dominic, but knew the spell that froze him, had put him in a sort of stasis and he should be fine could they find someone capable of reversing it.

She was worried about Slip, he was unresponsive and of course she knew that was not his normal behavior. "I agree with Kryss, something is wrong with Slip. Hopefully he'll be ok as soon as we get the spell on Dominic reversed...I sure hope so."

Jasleth

Jas looked back at Skyler and Kryss, his hard eyes softening. It wasn't fair to be cold to them because he had failed. Despite what the vampire had said...he knew that his responsability as a fighting class was to protect his party.

"....I'm sorry I lost it back there." He sighed, "and that I've been stonewalling...one of my less flattering RL habits when things get bad." "I wouldn't worry about Slip...he's bound to Dom, mentally, emotionally, and even spiritually." "It's no surprise that he's taking on part of Dom's condition...once we cure Dom, we cure the lizard." He grimaced as he carefully shifted the stone Oracle in his arms. "We may have to force feed him until then...he isn't physically frozen, so his body will have needs."

"Let me set him down a second...take a look at the map." The party paused in the road, Jas gently setting Dominic on his petrified feet. As he pulled the folded paper from his sash, he caught Kryss's downcast expression. "Don''t let it get to you, Kryss." "We all feel pretty useless right now." He ran hand through his tousled blue hair, "We can't let it eat us up though...like I did back there." "We have to stronger than that, and I know you are." He grasped her hand, giving it a squeeze as he spread the map on Dominic's back. "Okay...if we follow the road...we won't make it before daylight." "There are just too many turns." He cracked hs neck, then drew a finger in a line from where he estimated them to be and the castle. "If we risk cutting through the forest though, he can make it with time to spare." "Another option might be to take the road as far as we can, then make a beeline dash when we start to get close." He turned to regard the two women. "That's our choices as I see it." What do you think?"

Skyler

"I'll be honest I do not like the idea of cutting through the forest, but I will be more of a hinderance in the daylight. I can change to a ferret and be easier to carry, but then I can not help carry the packs."

She looked to Dominic, then back to Jasleth."The way I see it we have no choice in the matter. We're going to have to cut through." She let out a sigh, "Ok we have to wrok together, this was none of our faults, not Kryss', not yours Jasleth and not Dominic's or mine. We had no idea it would happen, but we all know something could happen and more will probably happen the longer we're stuck in this game."

She hated the fact that the game had taken over their lives, she knew she was having one hell of a time adjusting to the changes, she expected no less of the others. "We'll stick close together, and we'll get there as quickly as possible."

Jasleth

Jas nodded, his face grim. Then he grinned unexpectedly. "Roger that, boss." "Can't tell you how much it worried me that I seemed to be calling the shots." Again he carefully lifted Dominic up. "I mean, The Prodigous Youth isn't the most stable fella around, you know?" The two women stared at him. "Sorry...just felt I should try things a bit."

Jas shrugged, giving Kryss a tender smile before he loped off the beated dirt road and into the dark woods. Kryss and Skyler easily paced him, thier eyes keeping watch on the shadowy forest around them. "Now...there's some real nasty mobs in here." "If we run into anything, it'ss likely just be goblins we can avoid or steamroll thema s need be." 'However...the Green Tusked Dragon, Ferybrand lairs in these woods, as do ogres, even giants." "If I say run, then you guys need to put the hammer down and don't look back." A thought occured to him, "Hey Skyler, do vampires have a high strength?" "If worst comes to worst, I'm the best suited to stalling a mob so the rest can get away...it you're strong enough, I can pass Dom off to you and meet up with you at the castle once I've bought some time." "Just so we have a backup plan."

Skyler

"Right the goblins shouldn't be a problem, but a dragon of anykind would be." She looked to him, "I'm sure I could manage if needed. It's aways good to have a backup plan....always."

She kept moving, watching the surrounding darkness for other signs of movement. She was thankful at times like these for choosing her vampire class, in darkness it had its distinct advantages.

Jasleth

Jas nodded at Skyler's words, agreeing with the sentiment. She and Kryss moved easily inthe darkness, the vampire and the dark elf had eyes that were made to pierce the gloom, he wasn't so lucky. He did have limited blind "sight" an offshoot of the ki trainng that all Monks undertook. Closing his eyes, he reached out with his energy...feeling his surroundings and enhancing all of his other senses to compensate for his vision's inadequacy.

The three jogged through the forest, making little sound though even the slightest noise they made seemed to echo in the still air of the dark woods. They ran for a full hour before Kryss needed to rest. The three stopped to catch their breath by a stream, the moonlight breaking through the trees turning the water into the image of flowing silver. Jas drank a few mouthfuls of the cold water, the cold liquid sending a shiver through him, then he stood. There was something not quite right. Wind blew softly, making aged tree limbs creak and moan. The air moved, but was oppressively heavy nonetheless. There was a tingling feeling between his shoulderblades, as though he was being watched by unfriendly eyes.

"Is it just me..." He spoke as softly as he could and still be heard, but it sounded almost like a thunderclap in the silence, "or does it feel like we're not welcome here?"
