When RP takes control IC thread

Skyler

As the light came into view, her eyes adjusted to the difference. "What the hell is that thing?" She drew her katana at Dominic's calls for a little help.

"Hang on Slip." She rushed forward slashing at the flailing tentacles as she saw the thing toss Dominic in it's mouth. She continued to slash at the thing moving closer. "Dominic..... "

She caught the glint of light off of steel between the thing's teeth, it seemed to hesitate momentarily, but then renewed it's attack with it's tentacles as she approached.

Kryss ~

Finally out in the open. Not sure where, but it was away from the sewers. Thought for a moment, fire wouldn't do much for it was a water creature, wouldn't burn.

"Damn.... I wonder.."

Started spinning, as if a start of a dance, trying to charm the stupid thing, some what stunning it for at least a few moments, just long enough to get Dom out of there. This spell never lasted long, at times I forget I have it, and when it wore off, damn monster would come after me. Causing me to hardly ever use it.

Kept spinning, keeping eye contact on the monster... least I hope it was it's eyes.. Slowly it was becoming less aggravating.

Dominic

It's tongue began to slow it's assault. I could see Skyler and Jas fighting off the tentacles and Kryss was dancing. The dance was probably easing the monsters want to eat me. Now, apparently, was my chance.

I ripped the sword from it's mouth and used the handle to bust through it's front teeth. There was resounding shattering noise and I leapt out of the beast's mouth. The fish squealed as I jumped back onto the solid ground. I rolled a little bit until I landed next to Kryss. "Good idea." I told her. "Keep it destracted. I'll try and get a throwing knife." I opened my pack, hoping Avrice didn't steal them all.

Skyler

When she heard the the noise from the creature's mouth, she felt her heart sink, until she saw that it's teeth were breaking and that's what was causing the sound. She was more relieved when Dominic leapt free of it's mouth.

"We need to figure out how to move all of us away from it, without anyone else getting almost eaten." She was still hacking at the wandering, feeling tentacles. Every now and then as she swung, she would reach up to help Slip keep his balance on her shoulder.

Thalryn

Emerald eyes opened slightly from restful sleep. The elf shook his head, trying to clear away the images of Dominic being pulled away by a tentacle…

He heard sounds of battle, and his eyes popped open wide. He slapped himself across the face to clear the grogginess, then pulled both blades and ran to join the fray.

“Close your eyes!“ He yelled as he reached for his belt. Light flared as Thalryn pulled his throwing axe and the fire magic flared up, setting the tunnel aglow with the bright light. He leaned forward and tossed hard, and the blazing axe thudded into the back of the monster’s mouth.

Kryss ~

As they were fighting and Dom was standing next to me, noticing that Skyler and Jas.. now Thal has this under control. The spell wore me out more I had thought it would, it was such a simple spell, but I was still warn from the previous fight and going berserk.

It was just all catching up to me, slowed my dancing to almost a complete stop when the black blanket covered my mind. Couldn't see anything, at the same time felt my body moving and heard the fight. Soon bringing me to my knees, trying to keep focus.

"I ... I need... rest..."

Stayed on my knees till the end of the fight, slowly began to see shapes of everyone.

Jasleth

"And here's the kill!" Jas leaped high into the air going into a spinning flip as he did so. At the apex of the leap, he straightened out, completely vertical in the air, plummeting down fists first, a javelin of ki enhanced flesh and bone. There was the sound of cracking bone and tearing cartilige as he struck. The remaining tendrils flailed for a moment, then stiffened as the beast sank down, dead at last.

"Whew..." Jas stepped clear of the dead thing, wiping a bit of ichor from his face. "Nasty critter." "Nice work though, guys." "We had his number, and it was 911." A good fight always seemed to improve his mood, and this was no exception. Jas felt a hundred times better. "Let's take a bit of a breather before we go on, eh?"

Jas walked over to where Kryss knelt, dropping into a crouch next to her. "That was some dance, my beauty." "Seemed to take a lot out of you though...are you feeling any better?" Okay, he needed to say something better than that. "Um, I mean, I owe you big for what you did topside." "No matter how well Ky-, I mean, I argued, they woulda found us guilty anyway." "You probably saved my sorry hide, Dom's too." "Thank you."

Kryss ~

Jas's voice was so close, saw his shape in front of me, slowly seeing more details.

"I fear they would have... but it's still no excuse for losing as I did... just seeing you... his words...."

Fell back back sitting fully on the ground, curling up to hide my face, not wanting anyone to look at me like this.

"Thal says that Seth still lives, that seth had locked him in the room I found......."

I knew then that I said to much but at this point it was going to come out anyway. Just had no way to explain what happened.

"Anyway it doesn't matter now.. I made a mess of things.. Thal had some rescue plan, and I ruined it"

For the first time I really looked into Jas's eyes, was afraid of what I would see, though all I saw was great concern, and love.

"Most of all, I fear greatly I messed things up with us.. me and you....."

Jasleth

Jas smiled slightly, reaching out to trace the curve of her jaw with a fore finger. "The rescue coulda gone smoother, I won't say that ain't true, but there's no use fretting over it now." "it's done, and we made it out of that leg just fine." "I know it bothers you...losing control like that." "But the thing happened, you know?" "We just gotta make sure it doesn't happen again, easy as that." Of course, he knew damn well it wasn't that easy. Both he and Kyle had a hell of a temper, and he knew how easy it could be to lose control, and how tempting it was.

"As for you and me..." Jas moved closer, putting an arm around her shouders. "I know I've missed something....something you feel is pretty big...which is why you've been gunshy and guilty since the trial started." He sighed. "Once we get clear of all this, you can tell me if you want." "I won't pry though...I don't want to make you uncomfortable, whenever you're ready." "I can't promise I won't be mad, or upset, hell even heartbroken depending on what it is, but I can promise you that I'll get over it." "It may take a little time, but...I care too much not to get past it." "I love you...and that means a hell of a lot to me...I don't just say words like that." He ran a hand through his hair, "I'm getting away from the point...which is, that whatever happened, I'm not going to let it end us." "Period." She turned her face down, Jas not seeing enough to tell what emotion had caused hte motion. At a loss, he just leaned over and kissed her temple, then playfully nipped at her ear before pulling back.

Kryss ~

His words were like daggers peircing my soul. It wasn't him, it was more from the guilt that layed deep inside. The more his words sunk in, in a way were making me feel better. Towards the end lowered my head to hide the fresh tears, not sure why they were slipping, but they did. Guess it was because I may have actually found someone, someone that truely cares.... That may actually love me?

This is just a game, it had become so real over the past few days that I didn't know what was real or not. All this seemed so real, it was as if I was acutally Kryss anymore, haven't even thought about getting out of this game in some time.

"It... It doesn't matter.. like you said whats done is done. And this is just a game.. What happened is something I would never do in real life. Not even extremely sure how I let it happen in game."

Paused for a moment,

"Not sure if I could tell even if I wanted to... which I do. Just... well . Its hard to explain it in my own head, everything happened so quickly that I'm not positive of how it happened... ya know?"

Even though he nipped at my ear, I only leaned against him. Just feeling him near me and the words he spoke rang deeply in my head. Breathing in deeply gaining control of things more so now that most of what happened was out. Shifted some to look into Jas's eyes with the most passion I have ever felt, bringing him into a kiss. A kiss of pure love, one to let him know how sorry I was where words couldn't. A kiss of never wanting to let go him.

Thalryn

The elf mentally recalled the flaming axe and stowed it on his belt. The fish/monster had gone down fairly quickly between Skyler, Jas, and himself. Now Jasleth was taking care of Kryss and Skyler was doing the same for Dominic. The elf finally found the concentration to clear and focus his mind.

He reached out for Elistraee, and found her back down the tunnel, hiding in his pack. He again opened up their rapport.

Straee, I think those crossbow bolts were poisoned. It shouldn't have knocked me out like that.

Thal, you really should rest some more before you start running off into battle again.

And I suppose YOU are gonna fight in my place?

Well, okay, if you put it that way...

Thalryn focused on his familiar, and summoned the black ferret to him. Instantly she appeared in his hands, and he kissed her on the nose.

You always did have a way with the ladies, Thal She mocked him.

Quit yer yappin, you know you like it.

The elf then turned back to the group and did the best he could to clear his voice and get their attention.

"Ah, I hate to bring this up, but time is of the essence, and we've yet to come up with another solution to getting out of here, unless you want to go back out the way we came..."

"Wait, why can't we go out the way we came? Avrice won't be looking for us in the city, and I have unfinished business with Seth." He paused to stroke his long ears. "What say all of ye?"

Jasleth

The intensity of the passion in Kryss's eyes stunned Jas. He opened his mouth to speak, to trya nd say something to express his own feelings, but then she was on him. The ferocious love of her kiss, the guilt and apology that came through her lips, put him off balence, one hand darting out to brace him against the wall lest they both tumble into the muck. He let his own passion rise, answering her intensity in kind. Letting his want for her, his need for her presence, his joy at her nearness all flow through his lips into her. The stink of the sewer, the feeling of ichor on his hands, the sound of gurgling as Skyler delivered the coup de grace to the monster, all faded from him. Kryss filled his senses, the taste of her lips, with lingering traces of salt from her tears, the feeling of her warm body so close, the smell of fire that came from her dark hair. His free hand pulled her closer, her leg pressing against his hardening member as he did so.

They would have likely gone further, had not someone in in the group given a loud "ahem." Jas and Kryss moved apart slowly, a look of regret in the monk's eyes. "Damn...I forgot that we weren't out of the woods yet." He gave Kryss a quick peck as the two rose. "When I finally get you alone, I'm going to tire us out for about a week," his voice was low and warm. "And if we get interrupted this time, I'm going to kill somebody." Then he moved to stand with the others.

"Risky plan, Thal." "Bold, daring, hopefully unexpected." Jas tapped a forefinger on his chin. "I'd love to pound Seth and Arvice into a pulp, but this their turf." "We'd have to fight an army of soldiers and them...and even The Prodigious Youth couldn't win that." "Not saying we shouldn't go topside, but we need to avoid fights for now." "This close to their power base, the knights are practically untouchable."

The elf chuckled at Jasleth's being so naive.

"For 'Prodigious Youths' like yourself, fights are out of the question. But Oracle guided assassinations?" He raised an eyebrow to Skyler and Kryss. "The rest of this little band I've found my way into has quite the knack for stealth, and I've worked acouple of less-than-honorable hits. The way I see it, as long as the bad guy ends up dead at the end of the day..." he shrugged as he trailed off.

"Seriously though. Give me a little time to prepare spells, and I can cast a group invisibility, much like Kryss did earlier."

The elf strode to his pack and pulled out Seth's journal of potential buyers and the blood stained dagger.

"I found the book in Seth's room and the dagger in a secret hallway that led from Avrice's. Elistraee swears its Seth's blood on the dagger, but only minutes after I left Avrice's chamber, Seth had me by the ears, so to speak." He flicked the tip of his ear, for effect.

Jasleth

Jas grimaced at Thalryn's words. Assassiniation...he and Kyle considered it cowardly. The resort of someone not strong enough to stand up on their own, or who really believed in what they were doing. Plus it was just...well...not fair. "Well....I don't like the idea." "The idea of assasination...makes us as bad as them, you know?" "It's something they would do, and I don't want to use a tactic those honorless SOB's would." He crossed his arms. "My honor is one of the few things I have I refuse to part with." His eyes rested on Kryss, Jas admitting to himself that she was the thing he would most want to always keep. "I'd rather make sure that they have reason to come after us, which I think we have, and get out of here." "That means we can fight them later, with honor and on our terms, not thiers."

Jas pounded a fist into an open palm. "Settling things with them personally is the only way I'll be satisfied." "I want them to see it coming, to know justice caught up with them, and we're the ones delivering it."

He sighed. "But...if the vote is against me, I'll do what I can to help." "I won't like it..in fact, I'll hate it, but my wihses alone shouldn't decide this." The monk looked from Kryss to Skyler and Dominic, "Well, Kryss, guys, what do you think?"

Kryss ~

The kiss was extreme passion, washed the nights troubles away. I wanted him so bad right then and there at the time not caring who was watching. Then it broke at the sound of others, felt myself blushing hard for the first time around these people. I don't think I will tell Jas, what was done is done and none of it seemed to matter anymore.

"Well I think Jas is right to be honest, even if the Avrice or Seth is there, the other knights will be and I am sure after lighting people on fire will be a major crime..."

"Though I am disapointed I didn't get to blow something up... and next time Avrice won't be so lucky, neither will Seth..... "

"We have a better chance out here in the city the knights are respected regardless, and the towns people will help them fight if it came to it."

Looked down at myself, I was such a mess, stunk of the sewer, and worse of all I still smelled Avrice all over me. I wanted to kill that bastard..... Least he won't be useing a certain body part anymore.. I'm surprised he was walking around. Grinned to myself at the thought.

"Plus we all need rest, and I need a serious bath..."

Skyler

She tried to let the comment Jas made on assassination pass. “You know Jasleth, for some, I agree assassination may be honorless, to others it is a job, just like any other. But they don’t even deserve that, those two need to be dealt with out in the open so everyone knows their ways before they go on to whatever place things like them end up going.”

She sighed, she just wanted to go home, away from all this mess to the quiet of her home; the two wild things she called her dogs and the crabby people she dealt with at the stable where she worked. She knew right now they had to get past this though.

“Well I am not the master planner in anything, I’ll go along with your plans. We definitely need to get out of here though, somewhere dry and safe. Then figure out how the hell to get home.”

"Besides I agree with Kryss a bath would be nice right now." She figured the guys would roll their eyes and think it figured that when things got tough the women wanted to bathe.

Jasleth

Jas quirked an eyebrow at Skyler's assination comment. It had made her just a bit defensive for some reason. Pfft, no use thinking about that. "Okay...so far, we have three votes for giving the knights a pass for now." "So, that's what we'll do." He looked around the group for a moment, looked like they were putting him in charge again. Damn...he really didn't want the responsibility. "For the record, I want to wash this muck off too." "Actually that's a priority...even invisible, this smell will tip off any soldiers with a braint hat happen to be around."

"Kyle," said Jasleth, "I need a little help to think up a plan here." "You're the brain here, not me."

"Right." Kyle answered, considering options even as he spoke. "Let me take over then...."

The next moment, Jas went through that minute change again. Hsi posture changed ever so slightly, as did his movement. Lifting a hand to scratch at his chin, he grimaced. "Very well...going up will be tricky, though I imagine that is our best option." "Our opponents obviously consider themselves much smarter than us...it's likely they expect us to use the sewers to escape." "Even if they do not have a large force of troops waiting at the sewer exits for us...they will be present." "Arvice anyway, Seth will have to be in hiding...showing himself is too dangerous at this point." Dangerous assumptions...but sensible given what he had sen of the two men. Arrogant, confident, and furious at anyone who would even think of defying them. Such actions would fit their patterns. "So we will likely have to only contend with regular soldiers out on the streets....and we can avoid those easily enough with Thalryn's spells once we've rinsed off a little stink."

Kyle looked to the Oracle, "Dominic, I know that Oracles can learn ESP-type spells, do you know any?" "If so, we'll need you to locate a sewer grate large enough for us to squeeze out of in the basement of an inn, temple, or other public building." "Otherwise, we'll just have to explore a bit more until we find one." "Once that's done, we use their facilities to rinse off." He smiled at Kryss apologetically, "A real bath will have to wait, love, sorry." "From there, we make our way outside, and up to the roofs." "People in the city rarely look up, especially when someone might be throwing trash or emptying a chamber pot into the street." "Even though I do want us to be invisible, that will just give us an extra measure to avoid detection." He rolled his neck, still considering. "Once we're above the streets, we can make our way to one of the gates." "They won't have sealed those, not wanting to show tot he populace how desperate they are to catch us...or that they think we could have outfoxed them and not takenthe sewers." "I think that a fire in one of the mercahnt wagons just inside the town should cause enough distraction for us to get out of the gate unnoticed."

Kyle nodded, crossing his arms. "Yeah...that should work." "I'm open to suggestion once we get out of here, though for my part, I think we should go west to Ivalice, or north to New Arctica." "Either will be a journey of over a week, and we have few supplies...the only other option would be to go back the way we came, go aroudn the army that is supposed to be attacking Garnet Town, and seek out Sanctuary." "But that can wait until we get out."

He quirked an eyebrow at his companions, "Thoughts or suggestions for my plan?" "Anyone have a better idea?" "Mine is risky, but I think that it will eliminate most of the danger of being found." "The only real risk is that they'ver closed all the gates...in which case we will have to either get a gate open, or go over the walls." "So I am open to any options the rest of you can think of."

Dominic

I looked over to Jas, wiping drool from my cloak. That creature left a worse stench than the sewers.

"Well...I don't think I could see the future about a sewer grate...but I think I saw a church on our way out to the platform." I said, looking around. I stared at the ceiling and traced the pipes. "If we came in through that way...then the passage to our left should bring us into that general area. If it is a monastary of any size, then they will have a shower, and, thusly, a drain. We just need to follow the sound of rushing water."

I took off my glasses and wiped the saliva off of it. "However, as for assassination, I don't think we should try it. Not for any moral implication, but because it may not turn out. I saw a vision of a Avrice in a dark robe and Soliel was next to him. Soliel. She's supposed to be dead...something is very weird here."

I shifted my weight and scooped up Slip to put him on my shoulder. "Something very weird."

She looked to Dominic at the mention of Soliel's name. "I would have expected that too, after the incident with the spiders."

"I wonder what she has to do with Avrice and Seth? I agree with you Dominic, something is definitely weird." She looked to the others, "Let's find our way out of here, get cleaned up and then figure out how to get out of town and on to Sanctuary."

Jasleth

Kyle nodded. "Very well then." "I believe that retracing our steps should be easy." The monk turned, eyes stabbing into the darkness ahead. "Let's move as quickly as possible." "The longer we tarry, the more likely our absence at a sewer exit will be noticed by our pursurers." With that, he jogged into the gloom from whence they came, Kryss directing him with her superior vision as before.

They came to the grate soon. "This should be it...." Dom's voice came from behind him, the small group clustered near the faint light coming from the drain.

"Good." He leaped high, grabbing ontot hte metal bars. "One moment, and we will be in." He focused, channeling ki into his arms and bringing them down. With a loud "ping!" the bars came free in his hands. Another leap and tug, and enough room had been made for them to go through. "Excellent." "I should be able to toss people up through there, and the others up first can catch them." He st himself, hands forming a stirrup, "Who's first?"

Skyler

"Jasleth, send me up first. That way should we be attacked I can fight." She hoped they wouldn't have to but as a just in case she was a good light choice for going first.

Kyle nodded. "All right." He then braced himself, "Whenever you're ready."

Skyler put her foot in his hands, then leaped upa nd he heaved upward. The lithe woman flew through the bars, vaulting forward and landing softly onthe stone floor above. There was a moment or two of silence. "It's clear....Sounds like most of the monks are out." "Start the rest up, Jas."

"Jas," Kyle sent to the corner of his mind where Jasleth waited, bored. "I think you should take over again..the longer I'm in control, the more likely our friends will notice the difference." "I do not think that would be good."

Jas shrugged mentally. "Yeah, I guess you're right." "No use them thinking we're crazy." He apused for a beat, "Um, are we crazy?"

Kyle sighed. "I want to say no...but I'm not sure." "I think that it's a splinter effect of what has happened to The Game." "Since I thought of us as different people, we have become different people...kind of." "That could just be a justification for my, our, collective madness." "Either way, we can figure it out later."

"Right." Jas spoke aloud, answering both Kyle and Skyler. "Okay, Kryss, you next, then Dom, and Thal." One by one, they were cast into the air by the muscular monk, to be pulled to safety by those already up. Finally, Jas himself sprang up, Kryss and Thal each grabbing an arm and hauling him into the room proper. "All right..." He looked around the room. "Let's hit the showers, folks." "We gotta be quick, but try to get as much gunk off as you can." "Once we hit the woods, we can find a stream to get really clean in." He looked at the two women, a faint blush on his cheeks. "Ah...how do you ladies wanna handle this?"

Dominic

I looked around the monastary. It looked rather vacant; everyone must have gone. Avrice probably recruited them for the manhunt on our heads.

A shower...good. Slip stuck his tongue out. I am beginning to smell like ferret.

Slip...I need you to do something for me.

It's always about you, you, you, isn't it?

Slip...

yeah, yeah. What is it?

I want you to crawl through the vents out to the roof. See what you can about the city. I want to know if it's still crawling with guards.

Aye, aye Capitan. Slip saluted sarcastically and crawled off my shoulders towards a vent and he slipped away.

Thalryn scanned his surroundings, all but ignoring Jasleth’s embarrassment over the females of the group. In their home cities, elves only wore clothes for practical reasons, like armor and warmth, but humans got all uptight whenever any amount of skin was shown.

They were in your typical bath house. Steam could be seen rising off the surface of the large single pool that all the clergy probably used simultaneously. Other than the large bath, the room was just gray stone walls and floors.

Thalryn noticed Dom’s lizard heading for a vent.

Elistraee, follow the lizard out and scout the monastery. I want to know all the ways in and out of here and whether or not we have to worry about people walking in on us.

The black ferret climbed out of the elf’s pack and scurried down his cloak to the floor.

I’ll do my best, but this place may be too large for me to get too much finished.

The elf unbuckled the clasp on his cloak and shrugged off the pack. He picked up the cloak and spread out the fabric. Several holes were present from near misses on the part of the crossbowmen. The magic of the cloak had a way of absorbing the force behind weapons, so while his cloak had been hit multiple times, it absorbed the momentum behind the bolts so that they just fell to the ground.

He had to admit, magic had its uses.

Skyler

She looks to the others. "Well we really don't have the time to all bathe separetly. So I guess our only choice is not to worry about it and get it over with as quick as possible."

She was thinking how fun it could be if she was alone with Dominic here, but shook the thoughts from her mind, thinking maybe there be time for that some other time.

She unfastened her cloak and let it drop to the floor around her feet. She shook out her long black hair before beginning to quickly undress. She tried to keep her mind to the task at hand, getting the sewer muck out of her hair and off her clothes.

She moved to the steaming water and quickly stepped in, as she lowered herself intot he water her hair flowed out about her like an ebony pool.

She turned back to the others, "I just hope as we make out way out of here it is close to dark."
