Athyna ~

Snuck out of the tavern before Thalrynn and the others could come down, wanting to get the move on Thal. Payed no mind to Kryss nor the monk, for her time will come soon enough.

Left a note with the tender to let Thalrynn know I went ahead at least so he wouldn't wait up for me. Zipped just outside of town into the trees of site to where they would be coming out, sat and waited for him. Like a cat waiting for her prey.

*Note*
M'lord Thalrynn:

Let the games begin, first lets play hide and seek. Tag your it.

Your lady, Athyna..

Kryss ~

Followed Kyle out to the well, he made his donation or whatever these people called it. Having that concerned look he always has when something was on his mind as he looked towards me and spoke.
Didn't know what to say really, did I know her? She looks so familiar but can't place her.

"I - I really don't know Kyle.... Something about her, something is telling me to watch out for her. But I don't know why. Its as if I know her, then I don't know from where.... I just don't know.."

Had a slight concerned look deep in my eyes, not liking this at all. I had to know why these feelings roamed deeply like this.

"It does not matter for now, she seems to be with us now. In due time I shall know more as to why I feel like this. For now lets just carry on."

Skyler

“Well it looks like we have another archer in our midst, so far she seems much nicer than Soliel. Thalryn seems pretty taken by her.” She sat easily upon his shoulder.

“You I think you were right back there, me getting the wyne would probably have freaked out the bartender.”She sat quietly as he went down to the taproom, bought the wine, then returned upstairs to their room to gather their things. Luckily she kept most of her things packed in her pack, made things easier. She hopped off his shoulder as he returned to the room and moved near the bed, her landing wasn’t all that graceful as she hit the bed and bounced some, waking up the again sleeping Slip.

She looked to Dominic, “So what do you think is happening now? You not needing your glasses, oh and did you notice the difference in Jasleth? His eyes… weren’t they a different color and I know his hair wasn’t black last night.” She scurried around on the bed, she needed rest yet seemed a bit too hyper, she found a warm spot on the bed laid down and looked to Dominic as he moved about the room gathering the few things they had.

Kyle

Kyle sighed, and then gave Kryss a gentle smile. "Carry on, we shall, love." "Whatever is going on, we'll get to the bottom of it." He gave her hand a squeeze. "I believe that many of the answers we seek are waiting for us in Sanctuary."

The pair were quiet for a few moments, just watching the bustle of the town around them. "Kryss...I wanted to answer you earlier, but I will now." "I have changed, but I don't know why." "My eyes and hair...this is what they look like on the other side, in the real world." "It's almost like...like this is becoming my reality so much, that I'm not someone else in a game anymore, but myself in a real world." Kyle gnawed at his lower lip, feeling worried and even a little scared. "I hope it's something else...but that is what my instincts tell me." "The thing is that...well...I'm not sure if it's bad anymore."

Thalryn & Elistraee

The elf sauntered down into the bar, expecting to see Athyna at the bar with the wine. Instead, he was greeted by the barmaid and a note:

M'lord Thalrynn:

Let the games begin, first lets play hide and seek. Tag your it.

Your lady, Athyna..

Well, this was wonderful. He was leaving town in hopes of fighting and she wanted to play hide and seek. He’d once been told that trying to find an elven ranger who didn’t want to be found was like trying to find a flee on the elf queen herself.

Needless to say, he didn’t relish the idea, but he did know where he could find help. Only problem was the help was most annoyed with him at the moment.

He slung the pack off his shoulder and onto a barstool. Peeking inside, he gently nudged the warm ferret. “Straee, I need your help.”

What have we said about the sleeping? She whined plaintively.

I’m sorry, dearest, but Athyna has challenged me with the task of finding her. I am at a loss without that wonderful nose of yours.

The black ferret poked her head out of the pack, slowly climbing her way to his hands, and he promptly picked her up. Alright, but you owe me, elf.

Of course, dear ferret. Put it on my tab.

Elistraee turned her gaze on him, then looked back out toward the door. Well, she has obviously left town. My guess is she made for those woods off to the right. She paused long enough to stick her nose in the air.

Smells that way, too

"Wonderful." THe elf replied aloud as he stepped into the sunlight and made for the forest.

Dominic

"I dunno. The best I can figure....nevermind. It's just a theory and I don't want you getting worried over something that I can't prove."

I picked up my supplies and placed them in the backpack. "Anyway...I think we should concentrate on more important things." I tried to come up with an example, but had a hard time.

"Well...you know....like...." I looked out the window and saw Thalrynn headed for the forest. I was glad for the change in subject. "Well, what in hell is he up to?"

Skyler

“What? If you have an idea it is best to share it.” She could tell he wanted to change the subject.

She wasn’t sure which he, Dominic was talking about. “Who who who?” She jumped up on the bed which disturbed the trying to sleep Slip and got her a nasty look again. She bounded towards the window and up to the ledge. In her seeming curiosity she ran too far out onto the slippery ledge. “No no no Not good…” She scrambled to get her footing and rushed back into the room, she lept for the bed once more and then after shaking out her fur she settled on the pillow.

She looked up to Dominic. “Well maybe he is headed out to his duel with Athyna? Wish they could do that later as it will delay our departure for Sanctuary. If we are going to end up leaving after dark I should change and get some sleep.”

She moved around some on the pillow getting more comfortable, “You know there is something bothering me, other than being hungry, and that is that I feel so hyper right now and that is so unlike me. It seems everyone is going through some sort of change, well except Thalryn, don’t know about Athyna.” Her words seemed to flow in an unending sentence at times. She shook her head.

“Well I hope there haven’t been that many changes to me when I change back, but I won’t know till then and if I change now I will definitely go to sleep for the rest of the day.”

Athyna ~

Watched and smiled as the ferret tried to track my pattern of trail. Had a feeling he would use her, sadly I couldn't hide my scent from her. Though, that was ok, zigged and zagged from tree to tree, made circles around some here and there. When she finally got frustrated enough and climbed onto his shoulder slightly annoyed as to I had done.

She was close enough to where Iwas hiding anyway that I accepted it, granted it was her that basically found me not him. Either way, this wasn't what we had set out to do, just a small warm up.
Jumped down from the tree behind Thalryn, cat like stance one hand ready for my blade, other hand, fingers sprawled on the ground.

"How do you want to begin this little spar.. M'lord?"

Looking straight at him, ready for his first move. He was caught off gaurd granted, but least I didn't jump on his back like I originally was going to.

Kryss ~

"As I said before Kyle, my test for her comes in battle... As for the changes in you......."

Silenced myself for a moment thinking of what he said about possibly not wanting to leave the game. Still had to wonder how this was possible. So this is how he looked like in the mortal world? Well for the most part. It was different, couldn't deny that. Almost missed his red wine eyes!

"I - it will need some getting used to, I like it, just new all the sudden. The way you look that is...... To be honest, I think I'm becoming more like Kryss. Just feel more alive than I have, almost whole in a sense. I don't know, sounds silly I know that much."

That was the only way I could really describe it. But if we become the game, what of our mortal bodies? After sometime someone will eventually find all our bodies and put them in the ground, or the hospital for coma reasons. What happens then?

"Even noticed a few changes in me, my hair is more vibrate. Skin and the elements around me. Its all more real, more different that it was..... Not even sure if I wish to return either.. still I wonder what will happen when the mortal bodies get found... What will happen to us?"

Thalryn

He had heard her. He couldn’t pin point where, but he had hear her all the same. Still, it came as a bit of a shock when she called him out from some ten paces behind.

The wind blew, lightly blowing his golden hair and ruffling his cloak. He continued to face away from her, but turned his head so that a single emerald eye gazed at her through the golden wind blown hair. He slung off his pack, letting it fall to his feet. Slowly he reached up to his throat and unclasped the brooch that held his cloak in place. The wind blew hard as the garment fell, billowing as it cascaded down to the forest floor some feet away. The ebon ferret was nowhere to be seen.

Slowly his emerald orbs closed and reopened, highlighted by golden hair as he turned to face the ranger. Arms crossed about his chest, he spoke only two words.

“First blood.”

Then he was a blaze of movement, with Entropy and Seldarine drawn in less than the blink of an eye. His enchanted boots carried him at her far faster than she could have possibly anticipated. His twin long swords darted in from both sides at once, weaving together and away again faster than the eye could trace. His blades connected with hers as she struggled to block the onslaught, and the sound of ringing metal could be heard throughout the forest.

Athyna ~

Wildness poured into my soul showing through my eyes. His speed was a surprise no denying that, pulled out both blades just in time for him to knock me on my back, crossing the blades with his. Our blades between us, our eyes locked wind whiping through his hair made him even more delicious to look at. Mine had been braided for the travel, and also to not be in way for this.

"So be it!"

Growled at him as I shoved him off me, good and hard. The blades screeching in the air as they scraped against other. Whispered a few words soon, almost, but not quite as fast, charged at him making him get ready for blow, instead, to his side knocking his feet out from under him, the blades clashed as they met near his throat. The sounds of the blades pierced the air as they met.

Thalryn

Thalryn smirked as his spell vision picked up her casting. He anticipated her speed and set for the block, but she changed direction suddenly and he faltered. She knocked him off balance as her blades came up, but his were there to meet hers as he fell back, kicking up as he fell to send her flying across the clearing. He was up even before she hit the ground, emerald eyes flaring as he charged in again, blades low.

Athyna ~

Landed hard against the tree, only to land cat like on my feet. Ignoring the pain that may turn into a bruise later. Grinned at him as he came at me full speed, blades low. Readied myself for his blow, though once he got close enough, arms reach of me, ducked into a roll past him. His blades coming close, a little to close, still no contact.

Behind him now, got up quickly before he turned around and charged him from behind.

Thalryn

He crossed his blades behind his back as she came in again and was rewarded by the clash of metal. The gold elf spun, bringing both swords up parallel to each other and knocking her back again with his superior speed and strength.

She came in high again, and the ring of blade upon blade sounded so rapidly it was almost as if there was a constant ring as their blades clashed and were parried. The two relied on instinct, for each was moving so fast the other could not possibly follow, yet again and again metal shrieked upon metal.

Athyna ~

Dodging, rolling, jumping. All the moves, swords sung out the fighting song with the scraping and clashes that rang out. It would be hard for any mortal to keep up with either of us, with our speed and agility.

Breathing slightly rapid, but it was nothing for me, soon would have control of the breathing. Finally, he made a move that would give me the winning shot, he went into a spin kick which I ducked out of, just barely. Before he came down from the spin, my blade scraped across his ribs, trailing to his back. It wasn't deep, yet, still felt bad about cutting him. Didn't show it though, not yet.

"Is that all you got? Or you want more of me?"

Thalryn

His blade dance came to an end as he leapt into a kick, an all or nothing move that would cost him the match. She lived up to his expectations, albeit barely, as she ducked under the heel of his boot and snapped a blade out that caught him across the right side. His twin blades were sheathed before he landed, a grin on his face as she spoke. "Is that all you got? Or you want more of me?"

“You have bested my challenge. I shall fight you again if you wish, but to truly test my skill, I suggest spell protections, the likes of which neither of us can cast, for the both of us. As it stands,” he absently ran his hand along the side of his tunic and revealed a line of bright red. “You are victorious.”

The pair clasped forearms in the traditional warrior’s gesture. Thalryn then stepped back, eyes down at the maiden’s feet and hands clasped at his chest in the elven sign of respect.

“I welcome you then, Athyna, on behalf of the others, to travel with us. You have proven yourself worthy.”

Athyna ~

Licked what little his blood off the blade, then wiping the blades clean before sheathing them. Respect to the blades. We gave eachother the bows and respected gestures of the fight indicating no hard feelings.

"Aye, m'lord. I would love to do this again sometime. Though your taste is sweet, I don't dare to harm you again."

The look sorrowful look slowly starting to show within the silver orbs, slight concern.
Stepped up to him and placed a light kiss to his lips, smiling through the kiss.

"I am proud to be part of this group. Now lets take care of that wound."

Thalryn

The elf smiled warmly as her lips left his. He could taste his blood on her lips, and the sensation was rather…exciting. She stepped back and spoke.

"I am proud to be part of this group. Now let’s take care of that wound."

He grinned mischievously. “You may be disappointed, but the cut has already healed. The scar will be gone within the hour.” He lifted his right hand and revealed to her a plain jade ring that, upon closer inspection, seemed almost to be glowing.

“It is a ring of regeneration, commonly referred to as a “ring of the troll.” The only thing it hasn’t done much good against is this.”

He turned over his hand, revealing the crescent moon scar his amulet had burned into his palm.

He flashed her another smile as their eyes met. “I appreciate the gesture, but my body is quite resilient.”

Athyna ~

Impressed at how the wound healed. Till he showed me the ring that is, I had a necklace similar. Not quite as fast, but it did its job.

"Once again you have managed to inquire new interest within me. One surprise after another."

The kiss still lingered on my lips, was always arouseing after a good fight, didn't matter what kind of fight it was. Thalryn's taste still sweet on my lips, was all to exhilerating. Had to keep my cool, the rest of the party would be showing soon. Also, didn't want to push things with the golden elf.

"Shall we look for the others? And where is your beautiful ferret?"

Thalryn

“Elistraee has a way of disappearing whenever there’s a fight. Literally. She turns invisible. I can also teleport using her as a beacon, and vice versa.”

The gold elf seemed to zone out, as if listening to a separate conversation. He grinned slightly, and the ebon ferret faded into view on his shoulder. “She comes and goes as she pleases. You may not believe this, but Straee actually slept through our little match.”

You must forgive me, M’lady, but with this one I’ve learned to take my sleep where I can get it.

“Yes, well…” Thalryn spoke up. "I do tend to have my fun." He looked up from the ferret and met Athyna's deep silver eyes.

“As for the others, I guess we can double back. I’m sure they could find us, but knowing how long it took me to find you, I’d rather not wait that long.”

Kyle

Kyle shook his head, "I don't know what would happen." "Assuming of course, that there are any bodies to find." "Who's to say that these bodies aren't truly ours now?" "After all...there's no guarantee that there even is a way back."

He fell into silence, brooding ont he rather melancoly thoughts. Then he heard the faint sound of clashing blades chiming almost bell-like from the nearby forest. That woke him from his reverie. "Hear that?" "Sounds like they are finally getting to it." Kyle looked at Kryss, and smiled. "You know, it may be true." "You have been becoming more and more amazing with each passing day." "That may just be me though."

He laughed and swept her into an embrace. "Let's not worry, my heart." "Let's just take what comes, one day at a time, and enjoy the time we have together." "It might sound selfish of me, but I don't know that much other than that means a damn."

Dominic

"The changes...yeah. Well...I think we, that is our characters and real selves, are starting to blend together. My vision, Jas's hair color, your sudden hyperactivity...I assume these are all qualities we have in real life..." I shook my head. "It's beyond me HOW this is happening, but it is. At this rate...I give it another month or so."

I could see Skyler's questioning eyes; she wanted to hear the rest of it.

"...before the fine line between reality and fiction disappears. Before we stop being two different people."

I looked out the window. It would be dusk soon.

"We should get the others...it will be time to go soon."

Skyler

“I think my being so hyper has something to do with the ferret form. I am not like this normally.” She followed his gaze out the window, she had not had any rest this day, but as the sun lowered she felt some of her strength returning.

“I am ready as soon as everyone else is, maybe the sooner the better.” She then curled up on the pillow as Dominic gathered the things in the room. She dozed off quickly as soon as she was settled.

She fell asleep quickly and slept soundly for the short time it took Dominic to gather the things in the room. As he was picking up the packs, she opened her eyes and looked to him, she sat up. “I guess we’re ready to go find the others. As soon as it is dark I’ll change back and help you carry things.”

Athyna ~

Smiled lightly towards Straee's words, giggle with understanding.

"Wish I could do that sometimes, though, that shall be life."

Met up with Thalrynn gaze feeling a strange sensation I hadn't felt in the most longest time.

"Aye... we... we should go and meet the others, and it wasn't you that found me, it was the beautiful Straee."

Teasingly spoke as we gathered our things once again and walked back meeting up with Jas and Kryss.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kryss ~
Slight concern ran in my thoughts, though I hid it well.
"Aye, lets not worry about it for now. The thought is scary enough, and .."
Smiled brightly at what he said about me looking more vibrant, it was still strange to look at his now green eyes, almost looking at a stranger, yet, the same person dwelled inside the eyes.
"I wouldn't mind becoming Kryss, if it meant staying with you. Still not sure how that is possible. But I'm beyond happy that I'm going through it with you by my side."
Held his hand up, kissing the back of it lightly when Athyna and Thalrynn came back from their little spar. He had a slash in his shirt full of blood, yet no mark remained.
Was about to say something displeasing about how I was right to not trust her. Then, it was a duel, and both seemed pretty happy that they got that energy out.
"Well got these two back, now to find other two... Wait, three here, and find three more.."
Wasn't used to calling the familiars into the count, but they got easily offended if one didn't count them in.
Dominic
I walked out into the hallway, backpack packed and Slip perched on my shoulder. Skyler was up on my other shoulder. I felt like a walking zoo.
I moved over to Jas and Kryss's door and knocked on it. "Hey...you guys getting ready to go? I think we should head out soon."
Thalryn
He grinned as the ferret bowed from atop his shoulder. “Alas, the point of having a familiar is to add those extra senses. Elistraee is quite good at what she does.” He reached up to the ferret and stroked her behind the ears as he walked.
Before long the trio met up with Kryss and Jasleth. Thalryn grinned as both the dancer and the monk simultaneously looked from the slash in his tunic to the wood elf female. Kryss gave the maiden a look similar to that which he had received multiple times upon joining up with the group. Thalryn bowed in mock ceremony as he approached his two friends, then he reported the outcome of his match with the agile wood elf. “The match was to first blood. Athyna has invariably won.”
Kryss seemed to soften almost immediately, but Thalryn could tell she held her reservations about the newcomer. He would have wondered about her if she didn’t. That was just her way, in the gold elf’s mind. She looked back to town, then turned to Jasleth.
"Well got these two back, now to find other two... Wait, three here, and find three more.."
Kyle
As Thalryn and Athyna approached, he brought a closed fist up against an open palm in front of him, then returned the bow. There was a grin on his face as he straightened again. "Congratulations Athyna." "Having seen Thalryn fight, I have to say I'm impressed." "We are definately going to have to go a round or two someday soon."
He nodded at Kryss's words. "Right...it's high time to get on the road." "The mountain will not be an easy climb, even before we reach the Pass of Trial." He began to walk toward the Inn. 'I think I saw Dominic heading back to the hostel." "Let's collect our friends and move out while we have some day left."
Once they entered, Kyle saw the Oracle tapping on the door of the room he and Kryss had shared. Hearing Dominic's words, he smiled. "I agree," he called, enjoying the sight of the silver haired man start. "Once you get down here, we can begin." "If Skyler isn't asleep in your pack yet, she should get some rest." "It will be night when we come to the Pass of Trials...and we will all need our strength."
