Where did you get your Lit name?

This is the name I use all over the web. I started using it around the time I became obsessed with James Bond and all things espionage.

I have insomnia. Sometimes the sugar exacerbates it, but not always. I picked it because as a random word smoosh it struck me as kinda cool, and 'caffeinated_insomnia' was too long IIRC.

There was another thread like this a year or so ago.

Thorkel Griersen is a variation on my real name:D

It's an old nickname from college. I'm a night owl, and my dorm mates started calling me the vampire, and it stuck. The number is just one I can remember. I use it on several boards. Lame, I know.

It comes from the interests of giving over power, objectification, force play and the inner strength to be able to handle it.

It started off as wishful thinking and now it's true. :D

From Isaac Asimov's book Foundation. The first mayor of Terminus City was Salvor Hardin, a sneaky underhanded bastard. I liked his style, his panache, his quotes i.e. "It pays to be obvious, especially if you have a reputation for subtlety."

I just made it more porno-esque.

It's from the last line of my favorite poem, "What I Have Learned So Far" by Mary Oliver. The full line "Be Ignited or Be Gone" is tattooed on my foot.

This name was created as an alt for my other profile.
I seriously just woke up one morning and said "Pantomime Muse sounds good" so I researched it and realized that I did in fact like the sound of it.

Ultimately the "Pantomime" has a double meaning. Pantomime can be meant to mean "pretending or mimicking - performing" as in it's an alt, or the actual Muse of Pantomime is the muse of music and theater- which I love.

Polyhymnia rocks...

Wikipedia - Polyhymnia ("the one of many hymns" /pɒlɪ'hɪmniə/), in Greek mythology, was the Muse of sacred-poetry, sacred hymn and eloquence as well as muse of agriculture and pantomime. She is also known as the Muse of Mime. A very serious woman, pensive and meditative often depicted holding a finger to her mouth, dressed in a long cloak and veil and resting her elbow on a pillar. She brings fame to writers whose works have won them immortal fame. Polyhymnia is also sometimes accredited as being the muse of geometry, mime, meditation, and agriculture. There is a Polymnia Street in New Orleans, between Euterpe and Urania Streets.

A pantomimos in Greece was originally a solo dancer who 'imitated all' (panto- - all, mimos - mimic) accompanied by sung narrative and instrumental music, often played on the flute. The word later came to be applied to the performance itself.[1] The pantomime was an extremely popular form of entertainment in ancient Greece and, later, Rome. Like theatre, it encompassed the genres of comedy and tragedy. No ancient pantomime libretto has survived, partly because the genre was looked down upon by the literary elite. Nonetheless, notable ancient poets such as Lucan wrote for the pantomime, no doubt in part because the work was well paid[2]. In a speech of the late 1st cent. AD now lost, the orator Aelius Aristides condemned the pantomime for its erotic content and the "effeminacy" of its dancing[3].

A drunken stupor and I couldn’t remember my old lit name since I hadn’t been here in a long time.

The three i chose before jockdom were all taken so in a drunken rage I settled for this one.
Jock=Scotsman from the Robert Burns poem
"We are all Jock Tamsons Bairns"

Caz is a nickname, shorter for my short name ;)

sexy - well I like the sound of that!

22 - my favourite name

When I first joined I had virtually no BDSM experience but I did like blindfolds. I went through a phase of wearing one while I masturbated to make my erotic imaginings more vivid. I liked to pretend that some badass Dom was watching me and getting ready to pounce. Sad really.

So VelvetDarkness was really from that - the darkness that lies behind a blindfold, one that embraces rather than excludes. It promises and threatens in equal measure. It was also because I thought of BDSM as quite dark and violent and it was all pretty much an unknown quantity at the time - the darkness of ignorance.

Plus, I also tried a few obviously subby nics that were taken and I decided that I wanted something a bit more unique rather than to just tack some numbers onto the end of something, so I gave it more thought.

It was a name that just "came to me."
71 for the year I was born.

originally it was lovemyinnerslut but after a day i forgot the password

i think it turned out better this way, dontcha?

Bastardization of the meaning of my real name translated into Japanese. I usually just go by Kaze.

We were talking about Lit one night. I'd read some of it before but wasn't a member. He said that he should sign me up for an account. I was a little leary but said ok. He told me the user name he used and the password, the rest is history.

I have to admit I would not have chosen this for my name. People use to talk to him when he posted before I came to Lit. Now they fear that I will become upset if anyone talks, flirts or what have you with him so they avoid him or will PM him instead of talking to him on the board. I don't know what I would have chose though and this suits me just fine. :)

You know this is the first time that I actually paid attention to all of the letters in your name. My Inner Slut.

Isn't it funny how when we don't pay attention our brains fill in the blanks and it's nothing like what it is in reality?

Self-realization.
A hard look and acceptance of what I know to be in the darker corners of my personality.

And my year of birth.

Celtic - because i love reading about their mythology
Sun - I have always been drawn to astonomy and collect Sun and Moons
Spiral - Celtic Rune that Represents ethereal energy, and expansion of consciousness.

Before i joined i was working on a tat that icluded these things and i thought it would be a good name. :) Still have not gone for the tat yet, but i want to soon.

Most of the names I tried were already taken, so I chose a phrase from a song that was in my head. Closer to Fine by the Indigo Girls. I was suddenly feeling much closer to fine than I had ever felt before.

"Well darkness has a hunger thats insatiable
And lightness has a call that's hard to hear
I wrap my fear around me like a blanket
I sailed my ship of safety till I sank it
I'm crawling on your shores

I went to the doctor, I went to the mountains
I looked to the children, I drank from the fountains
There's more than one answer to these questions
Pointing me in a crooked line
And the less I seek my source for some definitive
The closer I am to fine"

I couldn't think of anything especially creative, so I just used an abbreviated version of one of my RL nicknames
