I once bought a cute little pair of undies and they were my lucky knickers (they ended up under the bed in an exes house in York, UK).
I use Luckyknickers for alot of my communications (except for those of a professional nature).
I changed it to Kinkyknickers for Lit for what should be obvious reasons.

For no apparent reason the word "Homburg" popped into my head, and I used that. I've used it since in places separate from my normal online ID. When I was a teenager me and my best friend were going to run away. We knew we'd need to change our names. I was going to change mine to Grace, cause I love that name. Eventually, it became the name I'd have chosen for myself if given the option. When I was trying to think of a name to write under, Grace Anne came to mind. i don't think i've answered this yet in this thread.

i needed a new ID for just myself that would not be recognizable by anyone who knew me. i looked for words that meant chaos or confusion. i've always been partial to words that start with A for some reason so when i ran accross Ataxia i liked it instantly. At the time i had no idea that it is generally associated with some sort of nerve disorder. Occasionally people think i am named Ataxia because i have the disease. i don't, my confusion is mainly upstairs.

i also thought it would be appropriate for me since i can often appear quite articulate and reasoned and then turn on a dime and think something completely different. Its not like people who argue both sides for fun. my mind really does just change how it thinks very easily.

i thought it would be a good way to remind myself and others that no matter how reasonable i may sound its not going to last so don't get too used to it. i also lean toward deconstructionist sort of reasoning which many people find chaotic but i think sometimes you learn the most by take things apart and make a big mess.
