Where to find these stockings?

Does anyone know an online store that sells the stocking shown in this photo? I've seen a few photos of them over the years but never anyplace that sells them:

You buy the tights of your choice. You put on tights of your choice. With clothes chalk, you mark the cut line. You cut the leg (without the actual leg in it) of your choice.

Result: said photo, without paying an arm and a leg (pun intended :D).

That's how I did it, worked like a charm.

Out of total curiosity, what's the appeal of one-legged nylons/tights?

This. And you can cut the opposite leg off a contrasting color, and then you have different colored legs. Many, many years ago, in the 80's. I used to do that and thought it was a great look. Lol

Out of total curiosity, how'd you keep the cut side from running/fraying?

I always cut mine right below the "top" part (like where the control top would be if they were actually control top tights. . .not sure what else to call it) and the reinforcement at that seam/line kept it from fraying/running.

That just happens to be the photo I found to post. They normally come in pairs :)

So you're just looking for like where to buy regular nylons with a sheer top and toe, rather than seeking info on buying/making one-legged nylons?

Color me totally confused!

I looked them up, apparently they used to be really big. Girls would mix and match different colors to create a unique effect for fashion, but now they're almost impossible to find without a bit of DIYing.

If you are simply looking for sheer/invisible tops and toes, then Hue has several types and it looks like Calvin Klein also makes them. I'm sure there are plenty of other brands as well, but that should give you a relatively inexpensive start.

Red, I get that some women [used to] find mixing pantyhose fashionable, but I didn't get the impression the OP was looking to bring back an odd trend. I took his post more like a fetishy/turn-on type of thing given the picture, so I wondered what was behind it, and also why people would be interested in wearing nylons with just one leg covered (vs. mixing and matching) if they have two real, uncasted legs to work with.

Either with clear nail polish or singeing them. Or if one has a lot of patience, one could also apply nail polish and then sew it, as detailed here.

Honestly, I had no idea that it used to be a fashion statement. I just remembered doing a whole bunch for an absurdly stupid show a while back. The poor head of wardrobe was out of her mind getting 72 pairs of them.

Nothing to do with one leg only - I'd seen these a few times, but wasn't able to find a photo of a woman wearing both legs, so this one had to do :) It's really the "crossover" look of each leg going across to the opposite hip that I found very interesting...

In the meantime I found a better link to illustrate, although she's pulled the "crossover" up a bit high here... http://ddfnetwork.com/preview/6445/hot-bodies-sexy-heels.html
