Who doesn't love a big cock…?

I'd be really curious to hear your feedback on my latest story "Our Dirty Secret Shared" which should be up today (Thursday) in the Group Sex section. It's the fourth story in my series following the same couple but it includes a sort of unusual character with a huge cock… I was curious to see what it would be if being really well-endowed made a guy shy/ashamed instead of really confident. I'd love to hear what you think given this whole conversation.

Sure. I'll walk through my reaction to this; as noted before, I'm speaking only for my personal preferences.

Starting with first impressions, the tagline: "Rob and his monster cock join Gavin and Melia". Usually when I see the words "monster cock", unless I'm reading Oglaf, it's Big Cock Fetish stuff. So my expectation from the tagline would be that this story is going to be primarily about big=sexy, and if I was just skimming the New Stories page that would be where I lose interest and move on.

As it turns out, that's not really the point of the story (at least, not where Rob's concerned) but usually I wouldn't have read far enough to discover that. If I was trying to market this story to somebody like myself, I'd be looking for a tagline that establishes it's not going to be just "big cock = sexy". Perhaps something like "A big cock isn't always a good thing", or emphasize the social interaction instead: "Playing 'Never Have I Ever' with friends" - either of those would be more likely to provoke my curiosity.

Anyway, let's click on the story and read on. Roughly in order of reading:

Second-person narrative: this is something I find jarring, but it's not a deal-breaker and it's not related to any of the other stuff we've been discussing, so I won't get into that now.

Technical aspects: good. I'm a finicky reader and typos/spelling mistakes/punctuation errors annoy me, but I didn't spot any on my first read-through.

Penises: my issue here wasn't with Rob's twelve inches, it was actually with Gavin. I've gone through the first two scenes and picked out the adjectives that you've used to describe Gavin's penis:

thick x5
swollen x4
wet x3
long x3
hard x2
hardening
big
not exactly small
gorgeous
crimson
dripping
pistoning
spasming

So out of 25 adjectives, 14 are variations on "big" and three more on "hard". That's where it starts feeling a bit big-cock-fetish-y for me. The description really focuses on that one attribute, and it starts to feel like you're going to be relying on this to carry the story, which doesn't do it for me. If you want to give visual or tactile description, there are other aspects that could be mentioned: is it straight or bendy? Smooth or knobbly? And so on.

The discussion about Rob is interesting. It gets past "big cock fetish" and explores how sexual issues affect a person, which is the sort of thing that does interest me.

Party game: this part held my interest, not for the sex stories in themselves, but for the way they're used as part of a clash of personalities. One straight guy using sex as a social weapon against another straight guy - that's the sort of human complexity that I look for in stories.

I also liked the bit where they begin to involve Rod. I could have done with a few more hiccups here - I have a fair bit of experience with nonmonogamy IRL and while mostly positive, it's rarely been as straightforward as it was here. But maybe that says more about me than about the story :)

So, yeah, I did like those elements. Overall, I could have done with a fair bit more of that stuff, and less of the sex; if I'd been reading normally, I probably would've been skimming through the other sex scenes to get to those bits.

(My preferred reading generally has a LOT of talk and character development before, after, and during the sex; if you're curious, the ratio in my own stories [linked from my signature] is about what I look for in others, although there are exceptions.)

Cool. Thanks for taking the time to read it! (And thanks for not opening up the whole 2nd person debate here, I appreciate it! ;) ) This is very thoughtful and I'm grateful for that.

Yeah, I generally prefer stories with equal sex and character development ratio, so I guess a higher sex scene frequency than you prefer. I'm really glad you liked the party game scene, as I'm proud of the writing there. It's pretty hard to keep track of 7 characters at the same time and give them their each unique voice so that was super challenging. And as far as the awkwardness of a threesome, I tried to be pretty true to my own experiences as well (although I confess I have been pretty blessed and how un-awkward my experiences have been… I was fully prepared for mega awkwardness! :D ) It was very purposeful that Melia's experience with Rob's cock was awkward and challenging. And not as effortless and successful as her escapades with Gavin.

And as for the cock adjectives (hilarious to see it listed like that btw) guilty as charged. I'm just a cock girl and so is Melia, so can't help describing it. And often. :)

And as far as the story tagline goes, I have a bit of a conundrum here. Which is super relevant to this discussion thread. Which is, while this is not your average "monster cock" story, I want to avoid the people who are offended by the mere mention of a giant penis and aren't afraid to tell me so. Nor would they take the time to read my story to find out, like you did. So while crude, it's a way I'm trying to safeguard my story from people who might be super turned off by the mention of a big dick… Not perfect of course, but you can't please everybody, and I'm just trying to reach the people who might be really into what I'm writing.

Taglines and blurbs are hard; looking back at some of mine, I'm not sure how anybody ended up reading further :)

Total i ythink you misunderstood. it is not reference to size that turns me off. i refer to size all the time it is the stopping to pull out the ruler and meadure or to check your chart on what breast cup size mens wht that kills my erection. Do some men actually get turned nby hearing 36B oh oh I"mm OH god UNHHH!

Okay Mr. Editor, start checking your damn spelling before you hit the post button, because this crap is bad.

Plastic surgery notwithstanding...

You could have a plastic surgeon lower your navel. It's all relative. :)

....indeed it is; on the other hand, it's easier to deep-throat less than extraordinary members - an advantage IMHO. ;-)

Thank you for the comic relief, much needed.

Striking the cervix'head on' can put back presure on teh prostate gland and cause very pleasurable sensations, even orgasm.

So what gives? Why would a character being well-endowed be such a turn-off that some one would stop reading a story just because it included one?

For me, it's too stereotypical. Of course the guy's got a big dick, this is a porn story just like the last thousand porn stories. Now you've got to work even harder to catch my interest with the actual story.

And what is the obsession here? Since when have big penises been deemed literarily inferior?

Maybe since it became so incredibly commonplace that it's now trite? How many porn movies or stories feature regular guys? Big dicks are just as stereotypical for men as fake tits and bleached hair is for women.

Has anyone felt pressured to write about smaller cocks?
Or am I just being trolled by angry men with small dicks?

Not pressured to write about smaller cocks, but motivated to write more realistic stories as a whole.

I never really paid attention to dick size until a few lady friends mentioned that it wasn't a turn on for them because they were so small. Smaller women, at least the ones I know, are small all over and don't want some 10" prick slamming into their cervix time and again. Apparently that doesn't feel very good.

Personally, i think describing the characters down to the last detail is amateurish. Reading mainstream books, they might describe the character at the start of things just so the reader has an idea, but they leave the majority of it up to the reader's imagination. If you tell me the guy's got a big dick, okay. What "big" means is up to me.

If you tell me he's got a 10" dick, the first question that pops into my mind is, "How do you know that?" Ten inches is a very precise measurement, and humans are absolutely horrible at accurately judging distance, length, height, etc. Did you get a ruler out? Why not 10.375"? If you're going to break it down so precisely, let's be really precise. Is there a rule about rounding up? Does he honestly have a 10" dick, or was it 9.78" and you were being kind?

And it's no different when describing a female character.

If you leave the details of the character up to the reader's imagination, there's less work for you and less chance of knocking the reader out of the story. To say a guy is built like a brick shithouse tells the reader that he's very strong and sturdy, but leaves it up to the reader to determine what that means to them. If you detail the guy in the story, telling the reader every minute thing, you're forcing your impression on the reader and that might generate conflict.

Do we really control what descriptions of images arouse us? Not to a great extent, I don't think. Are we all aroused by the same description of images. No, thank god. Will some of us ever stop trying to impose what arouses us and, we believe and are willing to push, shouldn't arose them on others? Apparently not.

The only person who is trying to impose orthodoxy is you. The OP asked if there were differing opinions on this point. It turns out that there are. Yet, you want to silence those whose opinions differ from yours under the pretext that they are attempting to impose their standards on you. Yet no one has attempted to tell you what you should read or how you should write. You are the only person who sees this vast conspiracy to censor your erotica. It's just you.

It's not about what I want to read or write; it's about what others on Lit. should be left alone to read and write. I can tell you're not going to stop pushing your preferences on others, though. If you and others didn't want to push your views on others, you wouldn't have bothered to respond to the thread question at all.

You're a fucking idiot. The OP asked specific questions. The OP got answered.

Nobody has attempted to push their preferences on anyone, so don't act like you're some enlightened knight in shining armor riding to their rescue.

How fucking imbecilic do you need to be to think that answering questions freely asked is a bad thing?

Why is it you think that offering opinions, even when they've been requested, amounts to pushing one's preferences on others?

The OP asked a question, and all the answers were presented as opinions. No one said "don't write this way." People said, "I find that... " or "I prefer that..." and quite a few of us said that it was just our opinion and the OP should "write for yourself." Even if it wasn't stated outright, it was implied that these were a person's preferences, and was all. Many of us who answered also noted that everyone has different kinks, fetishes, whatever, and so authors should have at them in the way they like best or enjoy.

How are we supposed to answer the OP's question if not with opinions? Or are we all supposed to say "It's up to you, write what you like, everyone has different wants/needs/desires."?

Big Cocks ?

Who's to say where "BIG" begins. I thought big dicks were the topic but I see where it has turned into a pissy fit about story opinions. Lets get back to cock. As a guy I can still admire a large tool and love to think about how it feels to push that helmet past a vaginal entrance and then bury that meat to the hilt on the first poke. I can hear her grunt even now. Not in the overly long department I have been proud to offer my 7" girth for appraisal and love the comments. I always thought I was "big" until recently when these (boy's) all have 8"+. 8 seems to be the bottom of the dick list. Under that by an inch I'm not going to hide my head, cock head, in shame for any chart. Want a big cock lil-gurl ? Look me up :rose:

The reason that I don't like reading about big cocks is because of the underlying inference that the story wouldn't occur without one. I start asking myself, if this guy didn't have a huge dick, would this girl even give him the time of day? At that point, I just check out completely because I can no longer inject myself into the story. It's especially bad when the author is a female because it strengthens my assumptions that whatever the scenario, a huge cock is required. It's almost like there should be a tattoo over the girl's pussy that says "Your cock must be 'this' big to ride". Frankly, someone that superficial, even in their fantasies, is a complete turn off to me.

It's tricky. I'm currently writing a story where a girl is seduced by a guy who does have a big cock. I'm find myself spending most of my efforts trying to make sure the main character is engaging, charming, and funny enough that when he and the girl finally do hook up it's less "I love you because of your big cock" and more "I love you and the big cock's a nice plus".

I, by my own admission, have a less than average penis but I don't feel the need to make my characters have smaller cocks or only read stories with guys that have smaller cocks. But if some people do, then more power to them. It's all fantasy anyway.

I like big cock Loving Wives stories and so does my wife. I have a small penis (yes I said it) and the thought of my wife enjoying a much larger man is exhilarating. We've acted on this fantasy with a man for a while. Complete wife sharing with me not present. We've also acted on it in a threesome cuckold scenario with her very well endowed black coworker.

Um, I don't know about "neck of her cervix" (cervixes definitely don't have necks) but it is most DEFINITELY possible to feel the head of a guy's cock butting up against your cervix if his cock is longer than your vagina. It depends on the position and there are ways of avoiding it (angling hips, making thrusts more shallow) but it has nothing to do with thickness (or stretchiness). If a man has a 9" penis and his partner's vaginal canal is only around 7" long, it will happen sometimes. The sensation is painful/intense/pleasurable depending on your own experience; the idea not the actual feeling is more of a turn-on for me, whereas my ex loved both the idea and the feeling of "bottoming out" inside me. So you can be an anatomical stickler about certain things, but I can tell you from personal experience that it is most definitely NOT nonsense.

Now, going PAST the cervix with a penis…? THAT is nonsense.
Agreed, agreed! Same here. I actually like it when my partner is well-endowed. And I'm not the worlds tallest woman, neither can I take a 9 or 10 inch cock inside in full length. However I do enjoy such men and I'm not the only one.
So also from my experience - "bottoming out" and "hitting the cervix" is definitely not nonsense, but reality. (Sigh - maybe some people on this site need a few more lessons in anatomy...)
But back to the topic of this thread - I wouldn't mind such criticizing nerds at all. Write what you like and what turns you on - there will be at least some people who'll like it and those who don't can anytime look for another stories - this site is full of them. You have at least my attention for sure. Who said size doesn't matter? I think it was not a woman - because it does. :)
