who has the most intriguing avatar?

When I was in college, I used to follow around a band made up of some of my fellow music majors. They used to do "Young Blood". You favor the bassist--and I can just hear the cool bass line.

Question: you aren't familiar with the song, or with the singer? Or familiar with neither?
well, I've heard of rickie lee jones, but the only song I can remember is chuck e.'s in love (or chuckie's in love....not sure how she titles it). I also know of a song called young blood by the coasters and later covered by bad company, but I didn't know if that was the same tune.

i rather like my own :D

and i have to agree with the actual pictures comment.
I like to see the face behind the words. :cathappy:

Whew, that's a relief. I was afraid you were going to lose some coolness points there for a minute..

Nope, not the same tune. Rickie Lee Jones' stuff is more jazz. I don't mean to be some kind of music snob, or anything--when I was in school, we were about an hour from New Orleans, and I was in the Quarter regularly--'s just what I like.

Dada--thanks, I'll check 'em out.

Take a walk around midnight in the city
Young Blood is hiding there somewhere
If you're looking for something to do
There's always something happening there

Like I & Bragger, we borrowed a coupe to day
Here come Pepe and she's got a friend with a chevrolet
But she ain't running
She's walking a little slow
And she ain't crying-- she's just singing a little low

They say this city will make you dirty
But you look alright
You feel real pretty when he's holding you tight
City will make you mean
But that's just make-up on your face
Love will wash you clean in the night's disgrace

Find a block where your people can find you
Keep a third eye watching behind you
You never know when you're making a memory
They will wish they were here together again, someday
Kids looking for something to get into--
Take a look
Two for the movie show
Three for the back row
Hold on tight!
Remember, you might have looked like cool twelve
But your fuse just felt like dynamite

Take a walk around midnight in the city
Young Blood will find you there, somewhere
And if you're looking for something to do
There's always something happening there

think of how relieved I am. I'd sure hate to lose some coolness points. I need every one I can get my hands on. ;)

a cool bass line.... sounds right up my alley. I'll have to try to check the song out.

some of the things you've said and that I read on your profile reminded me of these lyrics from a dada song called guitar girl:

With a German accent
She sings American blues
With a guitar 'cross her shoulder
And some worn out wooden shoes
She plays for pennies
Thrown into an open case
She plays for love
And a smile across your face

With an angel's voice that smokes
Too many cigarettes
And if you help her out
She's gonna help you to forget

Guitar girl, guitar girl
Won't you play me a song? (play me a song)
Make it sweet, make it sad
So we can all sing along
Guitar girl, guitar girl
Won't you play it again? (play it again)
Strum the chords of my life
Take away all my pain

On the streets of Munich
Tonight you can hear the ghosts
Of delta kings and Harlem queens
And cool jazz from the coast
A million minor chords
Can really take its toll
On a young fräulein
Searching for her soul

more choruses and a solo and stuff after that....
