The thing is, even though the kids were all born and raised in the US, their father made sure to keep them sheltered. He even had an adjacent pool-house type thing built for when any of the women had their period.The girl in question didn't have a boyfriend until after we graduated college, and I think her first date was sophomore year.

That is a bit too much!!! The only thing that you do by over-sheltering your kids is deny them the experience, there is nothing else achieved... its not like they aren't going to know about it later. It seems they were trying to get out of "THE TALK" Even I didn't get have that talk with my parents, I had to find out everything on my own and I didn't even have internet up till a few months ago!!!
