Sam glanced up from his plate at that. "Yeah, I've uh... I've heard the stories. It's kind of a pop culture trope at this point." He shoveled a whole egg roll into his mouth to keep himself from blurting out something stupid. In conversation he was used to listening to other people talk. But Emily didn't have much of a past to reminisce about it seemed. He had to lead the conversation. He felt a little out of his element.
In an effort to get through that brief moment of awkwardness he got up and loaded up a plate for the grill with noodles, chicken, mushrooms, broccoli, beef, and crab.
