WOD: Through the Darkness of Forever

Standing there, leaning against the bar, Sonja watches the bodies on the dancefloor as they whirled and spun around each other. She figured she might as well enjoy the music while waiting for Devin to return.

This is such a strange club, but there's just something that keeps drawing me back here. Maybe it's Devin or something about her. Maybe it's just the club itself.

Sonja then moves out to the dancefloor, noting there were several people that were dancing in a group or alone, either way, she intended on joining in the dance. She easily moved into the momentum of the dance, moving from partner to partner as did the others.

All too soon the song ends and she makes her way back off the floor to the edge of the dancefloor as the next song begins. Finding the beat alittle too rough for her she decides to just stand and watch, while she waits for Devin's return.

Lucian

"I am Rufus from the Ventrue. Other than that I can not say for I myself do not know. I won't bore you with the details. I am a friend of Victoria, through the Ventrue."

The man was a nightwalker, and he was from the same clan, although that did not nessicarily mean that he was from the same chantry. Still, it seemed very suspicious that a nightwalker from the same clan would show up in his club the same night that Victoria dissapeared.

"If you were protecting her why didn't you stop whatever that was?"

Lucian's eyes narrowed at that comment. He felt a strange mix of anger at the man for making the comment when he was not aware of the circumstances, and guilt for not being there to protect Victoria in the first place.

"I will not bore you with the details. Rest assured that she will not be in that thing's hands for long."

Lucian looked behind him, toward where Devin stood in the room.

"Come Devin, we must be going. The longer we wait, the further she gets from us."

Lucian moved past the man, and headed down to the garage.

The man walked away callingto the girl in the room. He called her 'Devin'. He followed the two as the walked down the trashed hallway.
"I'm coming with you." said Rufus. He was eager to help for he wanted Victoria back as much as the man with the rod did. "You are going to need my help. I can sneek past the thing without being seen and do things that you can not."

He walked right behind the pair as they walked down the steps and into the club. The people in the club did not notice a thing. They kept to thier selfabsorbed ways not even noticing what had hapened.

So nieve Thought Rufus as he walked through the crowds following the two.

Lucian

"I'm coming with you. You are going to need my help. I can sneak past the thing without being seen and do things that you cannot."

Lucian continued to walk towards the garage as the strange man fell into step behind him. He still was not sure if he was a spy or not, but at least if the man was with him, he could keep an eye on him.

"As you wish. Although, I will warn you, I do not plan on doing much sneaking this night."

Lucian decended the stairs, and walked through the dancefloor, towards the bar, where James was serving drinks. The crowd was fairly sizeable, despite the fact that it was still just early evening. Loud techno boomed through the club, and already dozens of people danced and gyrated, writhed and pressed against one another. James looked up at him as he approached.

"James, I will be leaving for a while. Keep things together here, and I will return as soon as I am able."

James simply nodded, smiled reasurringly at him, before being pulled down to the other end of the bar by a patron calling out for a drink.

Wordlessly, Lucian turned and walked towards the garage.

"Ahhh. The plot thickens", sighed Wrathlance, listening in to the conversation between Lucian and Rufus, having left Desiree to feed. He teleported himself to the garage, where he stood before the opening, waiting silently. As they entered, he materialized. "Hello there! I desire to venture forth with you!" he greeted.

Devin struggled forward, shaking her head wearily as she struggled to catch up with her Master and the strange man he was with.

"Master Lucian!" she called out as she approached them. "Boy says we better hurry! They're getting away with Miss Victoria, and he also says there's another presence nearby that--"

And Wrathlance appeared before them.

"--is now in front of us..."

Devin prepared a stance with knees bent, ready to dodge any attacks, as she fostered her connection with the Planet, now fostered by her meditation at the node.

This is going to get strange, Boy...

Hmm. Well, I'm strange. So maybe I'll fit in...

Great for you. I don't want to die!

"Calm down! I am Wrathlance, and I was sent here by my god to bring order to this world. Though what exactly my enemy here is not clear yet, it seems that your group is the most inclined to assist my goal. Now, I would rather not fight you, but join with you instead", he explained, seeing Devin tense up.

"Uhh... your... god?"

Boy... is he crazy?

I don't know. There certainly is a very strange aura about him. Something I've never encountered... though admittedly I don't remember all that much. He's surrounded in darkness, but not the gentle darkness of the night, but consuming darkness... a land of a vaccum, a land that draws souls...

You mean an afterlife, of sorts?

I suppose. Only, a dark afterlife. With fire.

Dark? With fire? You aren't making any sense, Boy.

I'm making more sense than this guy, at least.

Devin Shildea cast a glance at Lucian.

"Well, he at least seems sure of himself, Master Lucian, buuut..."

Wrathlance smirked. "Let me explain. I do believe a visual will show all!" he exclaimed. With his last words, he groaned as a creaking of sinew and muscle filled everyone's ears. Two dark wings rose from his back, glorious and majestic, rising to their full length. "Behold! Wrathlance, once the Tarasque Lord, now the Walker of the Dimensions! I am the Chosen of Belial and friend to the Mighty Fallen, the True Champion!" he said, pronouncing his titles with the sadness of eternity, mourning his role and his old friend.

Lucian

Lucian brought his hands up to massage his temples as he saw the spectacle unfolding before him. His life had become entirely too complicated in the last few days. Visitors, Students, Nightwalkers, finding his lost sister after so many years, and now... a visitor from Hell? If he did not know any better, Lucian might have thought that he had slipped into a Quiet, the personal madness of Mages who had incurred too much Paradox. No, this was real, and he supposed he should deal with it.

Lucian glanced at Devin. She seemed to be confused, and unsure of the creature before them, but she was out of her defensive stance. He felt no animosity from the creature, so he lowered his weapon as well.

"Wrathlance? Hmmm... I suppose it could not hurt to have one more person with us. We will be able to cover more ground that way. You may want to put the wings away for now though. We do not want to draw any unwanted attention. At least not until we get there," Lucian could not help but finish that sentence with a smile.

He quickly turned back towards the rest of the group.

"I can sense about where she is, and it is stronger than before. She may have regained consiousness, or perhaps her captor is distracted. Either way, now is the time to strike, while we still have this advantage."

Lucian walked to the white Durango, and, unlocked the doors, beckoning the others to hurry and get in.

I am coming for you Victoria...

Rufus was taken aback as Wrathlance apeared and then impressivly introduced himself. Rufus kept his guns at the ready just in case. HE also agread to take in whatever demon from the bottom pitts of hell that had just apeared he followed the rest and got into the durrango in the back most seat.

Wrathlance smiled. The wings slowly folded into his back and he rushed to the Durango, seating himself in the passenger seat.

Sonja & the Stranger

A few minutes later the song changes once more. Sonja looks to the people on the floor as she watches them dance. Hmm I wonder if Devin is coming back. Well she must have had to get some work done. She shrugs a bit and watches the dancers.

“Excuse me.” Startled out of her thoughts she turns to the voice. She smiles as she looks, finding a man standing there. “Would you like to dance?” Hmmm..tall, jet black hair and…oh those blue eyes.. so handsome..

Sonja smiles, thinking to turn down his offer, “Alright.” What am I doing I should have said no.. He leads her to the dance floor, moving her easily into his arms. The dance floor once more becoming less crowded as the song now playing kind of an offbeat slower tempo.

Victoria watched in silence as her abductor bound her form, both physically and mentally. She could not cry out, nor use her mind to connect with anyone after the creature was done warding and shielding her. She knew she had shamed herself beyond repair, and quite frightened, wondered what punishment was to come.

The creature laughed at her naivety...at her youthful stupidity. She was a newborn, no matter how much she had studied, no matter how strong her ties to her family were. She was his to enjoy, his to toy with....at least for the time being.

She glared at him in defiance, unable to do anything else, only to find him next to her, instantly, the rotting stench that was his breath, coating her thickly as he spoke.

"Mmmm.....ahhhh.....my little one..." he began, accentuating every breath, a trail of rust-hued spittle connecting his deformed lips. "Sadly...I cannot dispose of you in the way I so desire.....so instead, we shall play..."

Every fiber in her being ached to turn away...disgusted with the filthy creature, but she held strong, staring forward in defiance, never letting her eyes lock with his. She would not be broken....surely Simon would not be so cruel as to let this thing do as he please with her...

Please, Simon.....please.... she thought, as the thing trailed a sickly, yellow fingernail down her sheeted form, tearing through the fabric as if it were simply air. It's cackling echoed throughout the large, box-filled room.

Lucian

The Durango peeled out of the garage, and Lucian kept the gas pedal down as they roared through the streets of Chicago. Even as late as it was, traffic flooded the streets, and he was forced to bob and weave around other cars. The signal flooded his senses, and he knew where to find her. The streets blurred together, until finally, he reached the docks.

Pulling up in front of a dirty, rust pitted warehouse, Lucian finally pulled the car to a stop. He could feel her, inside ther building. Her mind was finally awake, but it quaked in fear. Whatever had taken her was obviously still there, with her. Perhaps holding her until one of her clan can retrieve her. Lucian would not let that happen. He would liberate her, take her back to his home with him, or he would die trying.

Lucian stepped out of the car, still carrying the Infinity Rod, and turned towards his new student.

"Are you ready? There will be no turning back beyond this point."

Hold on my Love... I am coming for you...

Sonja & the Stranger

They continued to dance, and he held her attention during most of the evening. She felt strangely attracted to him, felt like she had known him forever, he made her feel comfortable. If she only knew what he had planned she would be running, to get as far away from him as she possibly could.

But then again, she didn't know so was enjoying the time they were spending together. They talked between dances and she felt like she had told him everything about her.. why she left LA and moved here, and the things she had been through since being here. She didn't realize he was a better listener than talker, he told her very little about himself, instead he kept his interest on her and kept her focused on telling him all he wanted to know.

No one around them seemed to be paying too much attention to the two of them as they talked. It was almost as if they weren't there in the club anymore, even though they had not left.

Aria intro

"God damn it Mike! Why the fuck did you take the last fucking hit?"

She moved closer to the tall man and kneed him. Yeah she was pissed with him for taking the last of her score. She worked hard for the shit after all.

"Now what the fuck and I'm supposed to do? You fucking bastard you owe me for this!"

She turned away from him and stormed from the room grabbing her jacket on the way out the door. Her eyes were already dilated, signs of the amounts of coke and crack ingested already. Her small frame was so pale compared to others here. She looked as tired as she was strung out. She was in a solid black outfit. You know the type lacey and reviling in all the wrong places. She had a pair of ripped fishnets covering her thin thighs.

Once upon a time she may have been described pretty, but to many drugs running through her system distracted from this now. Her once bright outlook had become an endless night of parting with friends and playing the men when ever she could. She had no pride in what she did, but hell if they paid for the drinks and the dope she had no worries. More often then not she would end up in bed with the highest bidder. Meaning if the man had the cash she was all about him for that night or two.

Now, as she stormed from the building she spotted another friend, not really a friend; but he could and would blow a blunt with her. Danny was always around when she needed him. As of late he had another interest, this one they called Nothing. What a fucking name, Nothing, but she did not give a shit as long as he shared.

She walked up seeing he had just light one and she kissed him to get the shotgun from it. She let her lips linger over his several times until she felt the silent wave over take her. The buzz would suffice for now.

After several small exchanges she grinned and headed off to the club. The older teens started it a few years back and now it hosted local bands and all that goes with the Gothic genre. She knew she would find what she needed from some tourist along the way.

She moved closer to a tall thin man and rubbed to him. She licked his ear begging in a whisper. He grins to her before slipping her a small vile. She would have the money soon enough to pay for it.

Slipping past a few others she lets her eyes dance over the crowd looking for any that would have what she wanted money for the night. She grins a bit more to herself then anyone else before ducking into a back room to snort a line and get her self straight.

It was then she noticed the small man slipping through the back door, there had been something about his eyes that had caught her attention, they were quite human, or was it the amount of shit she had placed in her system? She was not sure but he gooseflesh creeping over her skin told her something was not just right about him.

She followed the man out the back door into the 2 AM darkness and knew she had been right; there was something wrong with the alley out back. Slowly she moved back to the door and to the safety of the club and pseudo friends.

Lucian

Turning towards his young apprentice, Lucian spoke quickly but quietly.

"I want you to go around to the back. See if there are any other entrances or exits to this building. I do not want whatever is in there to escape to terrorize us again."

With that, Lucian started towards the main door to the warehouse, already building magical constructs in his mind. Barking out several words in the ancient language of Enochian, Lucian focused his will on the door, bending the space around it, flexing the door, until a man sized hole stood in the middle of it. Walking through it, Lucian stepped into the darkness of the room.

Huge boxes twice as tall as a man littered the floor of the large warehouse, effectively turning the single room into a labyrinth of halls, twists and turns. A single small, flickering light hung above the entire maze, casting shadows in the room that danced menacingly as it swayed back and forth on some unfelt breeze. Immiediately, the hairs on the back of Lucian's neck stood on end, his senses screaming out danger. Whatever must have taken Victoria had apparently called in some help. Or... perhaps he was interrupting the exchange. Lucian could not sense the powerful aura of the vampire Victoria had been with in the club, but Lucian did not doubt that a nightwalker of his power could hide his aura from even Lucian's eyes.

I hope that we are not too late. I would not wish to face off against that nightwalker here, in his own territory...

Slowly Lucian moved into the gloom...

Lucian

Slowly, Lucian moved throught the darkness, his senses scanning all around him for any sign of Victoria or her kidnappers. It was muddled though. While he knew she was close, her presence felt... dispersed, as if it were being blocked somehow. He could not get a definate lock on where it was coming from, but he knew she was close.

Lucian made his way past a large stack of rusting metal boxes, moving towards the back of the building. He passed through a long hallway, and, suprisingly, the room opened up. The back area of the warehouse appeared to be clear of the boxes that had littered the entrance. The light swung directly overhead now, illuminating the ground Lucian was standing on in a slow front to back arc.

"You are finally here, mage whelp... I was waiting for you."

Lucian gasped at the sound of the voice, a low, dark sound, like gravel grinding together. The light swung forward, and Lucian took a step back as the speaker was illuminated. The... thing... looked as if it had recently crawled from the earth. Its clothes were in tatters, hanging loosely from its frame, which seemed to be all skin and bones. Pointed teeth peeked out over lips curled into a feral grin. Worst of all, its eyes glowed a bright blood red.

"I was getting bored of playing with my new toy."

The light swung even further forward, and, bound tightly to a chair, there sat Victoria. Her clothes were missing, her skin was cut in several places, and she was slumped against her bonds, as if she had either been hurt, or was unconsious. The creature leaned down, and, looking directly into Lucian's eyes, ran one of his long, yellowed fingernails over the smooth skin of Victoria's cheek. She shifted and let out a low groan, unconsiously trying to move away from her tormentor.

Struggling to keep his calm, Lucian took a determined step forward.

"You will release her this instant, you abomination. Do it now, and I will make your death swift and merciful."

The Stranger: Malakai Cole

I listened intently to her as she talked on about her life. If there was one thing I had learned over these years...it was how to listen. Soon, she had told him more about herself then she would to even a close friend.

"You lead a very interesting life, Miss Sonja." I said, flashing her a smile and letting my charm work it's magic. It was obviously having an effect, she was missing smaller details like how I hadn't taken a single sip of any drinks I had ordered for us.

I placed a hand on her leg. "Tell me...do you like your life?"

Sonja

“Interesting, maybe not quite that, so much as boring.” She took a sip of her drink and smiled as he placed his hand on her leg.

“Tell me…do you like your life?” he asked. It was an interesting question, she wasn't sure exactly how she wanted to answer it though.

She looked to the dance floor briefly as she thought about that a moment. “That’s a good question.” She looked back to him once more drawn to that smile and those oh so blue eyes. She thought back to her daydreams about a better life, the one she imagined, but would quite possibly avoid her.

She reached up and brushed her hair from her eyes. “Well I guess no one is really content with what they have in life. I fall into that category too sometimes. I guess the best way to answer that is sometimes yes, and most times no. But you deal with what you’re dealt.”

She smiled then again and took another drink from her glass. She was feeling a little woozy, but not too bad, just a nice warm feeling from the drinks. She had this nagging feeling that she was just talking too much. “So Malakai, what brings you out on a rainy night like this one?”

She noticed that even though it was a little late, the club was fairly busy for a rainy night; most places she had hung out in, in LA were dead on nights like this. She wondered if the rain would stop before she had to head back home, it was too cool to wait for a cab out in this rain. She was thankful though that it was more of a drizzle tonight not like yesterday with the crap with her car.

Aria prepares for the truth

Aria awoke the next afternoon wrapped in the arms of some stranger. She quietly slipped from his bed and gathered her clothes. Her dreams had been filled with the face of someone a shadowed stranger with eyes of crimson. She looked back on the man lying there it was not his face that haunted her and she knew she had to go. Her mind and body were restless.

As she found her last shoe, she emptied the pockets, finding nearly $8,000 in his side coat pocket. A slight grin ripped across her lips as she knew he would seek her, but she would be gone like the mist in the morning sun. As she left his home she noted the name on the box, John Micheals. The name troubled her only briefly, it would come back to her clouded thoughts where she had heard it before, but for now she had some cash to hold her up while she sorted what she saw last night.

What had she seen? A man, tall, pale skinned, handsome, and? What was it she couldn’t accept? His smile? There was something about his smile she couldn’t place something odd and in human. She had smoked a lot of dope and didn’t trust every thing she saw at times including the man last night.

After a 20-minute hike she hailed a cab to take her back to her place, a run down apartment in the warehouse district. Most on lookers never stopped there cars down here for good reason, and even the cab driver refused to take her to her place stopping two (2) blocks away for his, own safety. Aria slipped him a $50.00 for his troubles. As she walked down the now thinning street she was reminded once more of the man last night. An all to familiar sensation moved over her as though she was being watched or judged.

She quickened her pace to the run down dump nearly knocking the handle off the door with her fear of the street. Perhaps it was the lingering effects of the LSD she dropped last night, or the high amounts of Crown Royal, but she was scared now of her own environment. As she locked the door behind her she felt a wave of relief as if secure once more.

Aria moved to the couch flopped down and noticed the time; it was only 3:00 P.M. and the day just beginning still time for a shower and a nap and perhaps some food. She knew she couldn’t go to the club tonight, but with the amount of cash she now had she could afford a motel room and her own supplies. She reached for the phone.

Ring ring ring

“Hey, it’s me, I was wondering if I could see you in a little bit?”

“You have something for me?”

“I have what you want. I was thinking of something bigger this time.”

The voice on the other end was silent for a few seconds as if thinking on her words. The light sound of traffic filtered over the phone line giving away his location. The sound of trains moving by echoed through the line.

“I’ll see you in a few minutes this better not be some scam.”

“It’s not D I promise you.”

She hung up hearing the train in the distance, D was close and it would only be a few minutes. She stashed most of the money in a small can up on the half dead stove slipping the cover back into place before jumping in the shower to wash away John’s smell from her. Thoughts of the night and the stranger she had seen seemed to wash away as well. It was 20-minutes later when the knock at the door came and the cold water was finally turned off.

(more to come)

Malakai

I shrugged in response to her question. "Crowds of people are very alluring to me. I like to be around so many lively people." I ran a finger along the nape of her neck. "And I really enjoy meeting new and beautiful people."

I smiled as I saw her shudder slightly at my cool touch. I still have it. I moved in closer and kissed her neck. I noticed all the subtle things we vampires tends to notice; the quivering necks, the heaving bosom and so forth. I was definitly having an effect on her. I'd like to think it was more my charm than my powers, but I'll take whatever works.

I moved up to her ear and whispered, "But it think this room is getting too crowded for me...shall we move to a more secluded area?"

Sonja

She didn't know why, she didn't really know this man, but she found herself lost in his touch. She almost felt like jumping to her feet when he suggested leaving the main floor for a quieter place.

She smiled, "Sure. It is abit crowded in here.." She took his hand as they stood and let him lead her from the table. She was fighting hard not to let him get to her so fast, but it had been awhile and he was oh so handsome...

Malakai

I smiled as I took her hand and led her out of the main room. As we left through a series of doors to the back rooms, the music died out, leaving only the strong bass beats to pulse through the rickity floor and walls. I entered a secluded storage room and pulled her in. I closed the door firmly.

"Don't worry about being caught back here. I know the bartender. We go back....a long time." I smiled and pulled her close to me, drawing her into a kiss. I could feel her melt into me. I ran my hands along her waist and moved my mouth to her neck and let my fangs glide down from where I hide them under my lip. With a content smirk, I leaned in and bit into a throbbing vein on her neck, piercing the skin and sucking on her warm blood. This was the part I lived for.

The Embrace.
