Had the FiFa refs been calling those Red Card offenses evenly, then maybe you’d have a point. Messi had a much more egregious leg swipe and wasn’t called.

The overturning of the red card has a big time ick feeling to it for sure.

That said, what Declan rice just did in the first minute was clearly worse than what balogan did . And it's one of many examples like that. So it still feels ick, but it also feels like justice

Just to be clear, the red card was not overturned. Nor was the suspension. If FIFA could have justified doing that there would have been less fuss. Instead, what they did was to find an obscure rule that allowed them to Suspend the one match ban for twelve months. Effectively they are saying Yes it was a foul. yes it was a red card offense but after talking to Donald Trump we want the USA to have the best possible chance in the next round so we are suspending the ban until after the tournament is over.
