World of Sardon

To awake in another's arms is a strange but not unwelcome feeling... Kallisto opened her eyes to see that she was still dozing in the God's arms. It was still dark outside but there was something going on that was for sure. She didn't dare move, her eyes stared at the tent flap as if waiting for someone to find them. She knew that smell...

"Kaelis..." She whispered as she moved from the God's arms.

Ferren stirred when he felt Kallisto slip out of his arms. He looked up at her and gently grabbed her hand.

"Kallisto... what is it?"

Lucifine woke with a start shook Maddox's shoulder, gently at first, and then harder.

"Maddox" she whispered as threw on her armor and grabbed Tempest. "I hear something--something's out there...."

Kaelis stood there in the glow of the campfire, and Ferren was out after her. What was left of two of Ferren's men lay blackened and withered on the ground. Dark essence flared at his finger-tips and he smiled at Kallisto.

"Well, well..." he smirked. "The little changeling shows herself. And, you have a most... unique friend. No matter. The godling shall share your fate."

Lucifine gave the elf a strange look. Had she suddenly become fragile? The Korinthian shook her head.

"I don't know what's out there, but with go together." she said as she followed him out.

She knew now that this old mage was not her friend now. He had always acted funny but she had never known too many mages before him. What was she really to expect?

A low growl escaped from her throat as she pulled back the bowstring immediately upon nocking an arrow. "You're the treacherous wretch..." She snapped.

He realized what he had said and was glad that she wasn't the type to just get angry. "Let's go out together..." He agreed and was surprised to come out to some mage staring down young Kallisto who looked as if she would put several arrows through him if he flinched.

Ferren scowled at the mage and there was a rumble in the dark sky. Lightning flashed and cracked amongst the clouds and sparks of electricity jumped in his curled fists.

"Such harshed words, Kallisto." he chuckled. "You were always too trusting when taking in strays."

With a wave of his hand, the snow beneath Kallisto blackened and slimy black tendrils quickly wove their way up her legs and to her arms. From behind, Dorin dropped down as he called lightning to strike the mage, and hit the larger man full force.

Kaelis barely dodged the lightning, his robe smoked from the strike. He laughed amused as Dorin squared off with the godling and he turned his attentions back to Kallisto...

"Maddox--help Ferren!" Lucifine called out. "I'll try to free Kallisto"

We'll see how he likes Tempest's sting

With a flick of her wrist, Tempest became long and whip like with jagged icy edges and she charged into the fray. The rest of the camp was starting to stir at the sounds of combat.

Kallisto knew that Dorin had tried to strike down Kaelis but he had failed and she was left defenseless for the most part. She knew that that beast of a man was going to kill her if someone or something didn't help her soon. She was facing down a madman with no weapons... she was in trouble.

And just when she was sure that there was no one coming.... Kaelis' attack was stopped by the beautiful Korinthian woman. She let out a relieved sigh and then screamed as something cut her cheek.

Maddox moved in on the war with Dorin and Ferren. He planned to attack the assassin but then he found himself on the defense. Two deities were fighting a mere mortal and they were having a time with it. This was not a good sign...

"The Shard Bearer!" Kaelis hissed as he held the arm that Tempest had bitten into. "I'll carve open your chest and bring your heart and the Night Mother's shard to my Lady!"

The mage blurred as Lucifine waved her hand and tried to encase him in ice. For a brief second, she looked to Kallisto who let out a scream and the mage was suddenly at her side, hands transmuted into long, vicious claws.

"You die now, Korinthian!"

Dorin swore under his breath. The lighning charm that he'd stolen from Kaelis on there way here, had missed and now these two, one a god, were pressing him, and they were starting to work together.

The assassin barely had time to dodge Ferren's electrified fist. He smelled the hot ozone of lightning as it sailed past his face, but he felt the bite of one of Maddox's swords in his arm.

They were slowly boxing Dorin in and there was no place he could go. He desperately needed to kill Kaelis and the only way was to somehow get around these two...

Maddox was sure that this bastard who had kidnapped Kallisto last time would find his death between the two men. He wanted to run the man through and while landing a strike every so was gratifying it wasn't what the elf wanted....

And there it was... an opening, Maddox misstepped and tripped over one of the corpses leaving a large hole for Dorin to get out of.

Lucifine let out a fierce cry as she reformed Tempest into a solid blade and cut clean through one of his hands. The mage screamed as he stumbled back and Lucifine's hand shot out with unnatural speed to the mage's neck Her eyes went snow white and black frost burn started to slowly, painfully take the mage.

"How dare you threaten my vessel!" the voice of the Night Mother hissed. "How dare you come amongst us!"

The longer the Night Mother held Kaelis in her grasp, the more the mage's tendril's withered and fell from Kallisto...

Dorin took advantage of the elf's faltered step and bounded out between them. He drew his knife, Scourge, as he ran full tilt towards Kaelis. He wouldn't let the Korinthian woman kill the mage if he could help it. When he was in range, he skidded to an abrupt stop, drew back the knife and threw it.

It landed solidly in Kaelis's skull and the warm spray of blood against Lucifine's face was enough to knock her out of the Night Mother's grasp. She dropped the mage and he lay dead in the snow with Scourge buried in his brain.

Dorin gave a quick glance at Kallisto, who was thankfully alive. The last of the tendrils were fading as he started over to claim her, when he felt a large hand, Ferren's hand grab him.

Kallisto saw the man coming for her and while she wanted to run into her arms there was that side of her that was soooo soooo glad that Ferren had grabbed him. She stared at the man that was held there by the strong God that wanted her. She didn't know what to say or do or if she even should say or do anything.

She instead ran to Lucifine to see if the shorter but older woman was alright. What would they do with Dorin?

"What kind of assassin are you?" Maddox asked as he prepared the rope to tie him up.

Ferren forced Dorin to his knees in the bloodied snow. The young god divested the assassin of any other weapons he could find. He felt the elf start to tie him up.

"The kind who kills." Dorins said tersely.

He paid little attention to the two men standing over him. He was focused on Kallisto as she asked after the Korinthian woman. She was the one that had escaped him when he'd killed Marius.

He briefly caught Kallisto's eye and smiled slightly as the ropes tightened around him.

Not long now, pretty... he thought. Not long. I promise you.

Kallisto had barely looked up and met his eyes for only a moment. She felt sorry that he had been caught but really it was his fault... and yet he had killed Kaelis hadn't he? For her? For himself? She didn't know but what she did know was that her wolf side craved him while Ferren attracted her human half... What was she to do.

She smiled as the bigger man petted her pretty little head and then rubbed her ears as if to calm her. Ferren was a good man.

"Are you alright?" She asked as she looked over his cuts and wounds, healing them near instantly.

Ferren felt a vague tingling sweep over him as Kallisto healed his wounds.

"I'm fine." he said, as he gently stroked Kallisto's cheek. "I'm more worried for you, though. Had it not been for Lucifine, you might've been killed."

He leaned in, and hesitated for a moment before he placed a chaste kiss on her cheek.

Maddox hauled Dorin to his feet and he scowled as the godling dared to touch, dared to kiss his woman! He struggled against his bonds, furious.

"Damned godling!" he hissed, "she's--"

Dorin was abruptly cut off by Lucifine's fist. A trickle of red ran from the corner of his mouth. He looked up at his countrywoman, amused.

"I thought it was against your precious King's Guard to assault unarmed prisoners?"

"Murderer..." she snapped. "I'm sure you're the one who killed Marius--you're lucky that we'll probably need you or I'd kill you myself."

Kallisto was surprised at how he reacted and so was Maddox for that matter. he was calm up until Ferren had kissed Kallisto. But there was no time for guessing the inner workings of a crazyman. He hauled the other to his feet and had to smile as Lucifine hit him pretty hard.

"Lucifine... Don't bother reasoning... He lost his empathy and moral outstanding long ago..." The elf said giving him a quick shake.

"Goddamned assassin..." Lucifine said as she shook out her hand.

Maddox was right. It was no use trying to reason with him. He was a hard, calloused killer, but two things nagged at her. He'd killed Kaelis, a mage that he'd presumably been working with, and the way he'd reacted to Ferren and Kallisto.

"What's going on here?" she murmured.

Kallist watched the going ons and had to admit that she felt bad for Dorin and wanted to heal him but there was a no go there. She heard Lucifine's question, even if n one else really did. She frowned and stared at him as if she wasn't sure what to do...

She moved to Ferren's arms and allowed him to hold her but even when she met those eyes they both knew that while she may be his priestess... she was Dorin's... no matter how badly she did want to be with Ferren too.

There was a jealous flare in Dorin's eyes when the godling took his woman in his arms. Though Kallisto was held by the other man, he saw that she wanted to come to him, and that eased his annoyance a bit as Maddox hauled him away.

"What do you think you're going to do with me, elf?" Dorin smirked.

Kallisto did want to go to him but she was happy with her godling. Her eyes shut as he held her, she had felt so useless. "I'm sorry I was in the way... and I could have gotten everyone killed," she whispered.

Maddox knew something was up but there was only so much he could do.

"We're going to have a little chat," he said heading towards a river not too far away.

The young god looked over at Lucifine who knelt over Kaelis's body. She carefully took Scourge out of his skull, tore a piece of his robe off and wrapped it up.

"What is it, Lucifine?"

The Korinthian woman frowned as she got up.

"It doesn't make sense." she said. "He killed his own man but... why? Why would he do that?"

The young god stopped abruptly in mid thought. It was entirely possible that it was what the assassin had planned to do. It was a mad idea, but perfectly rational pursuit for a man like this assassin.

Ferren gently kissed Kallisto on her forehead and left the changeling with Lucifine. He wanted to know exactly why this man killed the mage.

Bark ground into the side of Dorin's face and for a moment he saw bright sparks in his vision. The elf was getting vicious now, but he still had enough in him to smirk a bit.

"Hardly." Dorin croaked, as blood ran down his handsome face. "I--"

"Maddox!" Ferren said as he took hold of Dorin. "Maddox, stop!"

Between the assassin's reaction to Kallisto and the dead mage, he finally understood.

"You killed for her didn't you?" Ferren said. "You killed for Kallisto?"

"Of course I did." Dorin managed. "She's mine. I wasn't going to let the mage touch her and I wasn't going to take her back to Sardonica either."

Dorin suddenly passed out then, and Ferren caught him when he fell.

The Korinthian woman couldn't comprehend the changeling's wolfish nature. She wanted to be angry that the girl had aided their enemy, that she'd lied about killing him, but she couldn't. Perhaps because it took more courage to save one's enemy than to kill them.

The young god looked at the unconcious man in his arms.

"He meant what he said, Maddox--I have no doubt... They looked at each other the way you and Lucifine do, the way I..."

Words caught in his throat for a moment, before he force them out.
