World of Sardon

EHawkins said:
“Do you mean with the Shard?” Lucifine said as she swung onto the back of her own mount. “The Night Mother’s shard contains her essence, though she’s weak. Every ten years or so, a new High Priest or Priestess is chosen and the shard is put into them. They’re either cold aspected or dark aspected, and through her they have control over the elements. Before the High Priest, Marius died, I think he somehow drew it out of himself and force it into me.”

“Since I’m not trained to be the Night Mother’s priestess, I can’t fully control the ice magic.”

Lucifine held up a gloved hand.

“I can’t touch anything without it freezing and I can’t control when or how the Night Mother manifests through me. If it’s not taken care of, I fear it may be… disastrous.”

Lucifine smiled as she suddenly changed the subject.

“I see you’ve faired well, little sister” she grinned in a way that only a warrior could at a well earned victory. “and you’ve gained a trophy”

The Korinthian gave a nod and acknowledged Wrack at Kallisto’s side.

“I trust you sent Sardonica’s assassin to his grave?”

Kallisto smiled at the woman and was surprised that she had noticed the weapon. Sure, she wanted to know more about this Night Mother but it was all too clear that her friend was not ready to speak of such a thing. At least not in the pressence of this new temporary member of their group.

Really she didn't know how temporary it would be if she turned out to be his priestess....

And then there was Dorin to think about.

"I left him in a pool of blood at the cave," she said. What? It had been the truth. For all she knew he was dead, she had done some good amount of damage and now that she was really thinking about it she wanted to go back out and check to make sure that he was alright.

Maddox hugged Kallisto again and kissed her forehead. "You've done a great job just like I taught you," he teased lightly. "Now, I suggest that we get some rest before really setting out." He said. Of course then he looked to this other God for his ok... no reason to piss off the Gods right?

Dorin knelt at Sardonica’s feet, washed and bound, and in fresh armor, with Scourge at his side.

“My apologies, Lady.” He said as he surreptitiously palmed Scourge’s antidote in his hand. “It was not my intention to keep you waiting.”

“As for your brother and his whore… You asked for your brother’s death and it is done. My Lady did not ask for his body, but if you wish it, It will be brought. The woman is what happened to me. She was a changeling wolf—far stronger than I thought she was. I was not prepared when she suddenly changed on me. We fought and even with my wounds I tried to track her, until the pain and cold was too much. Perhaps this can be used to our advantage. She has a connection to Lucifine, the woman with the Night Mother’s Shard. She might lead us to her and both could be slain…”

Dorin deftly popped open the tiny vial of antidote and felt the slick contents absorb into his skin…

“If my Lady doesn’t see fit to give me another chance, then I’ll gladly poison myself with my own knife.”

Dorin knew that poisoning by Scourge was slow and painful, and even though he’d given himself the antidote, he’d still suffer a death-like state until the poison passed from him. One way or the other, he’d see his Kallisto again, as an agent of the goddess or hunted by her…

The assassin deftly tucked the tiny bottle into his cuff, drew Scourge and waited…

Sardonica giggled, almost maniacally, at his offer. She immediately stood up and drew him to his feet. He was precious really, such a sad little pawn that was always looking to her for what to do next, oh the responsibilities of a Goddess. The tall, slender, light haired woman found herself unable to frown as she tried to think of what she wanted of him.

"You shall hunt down the little bitch," she said thinking her use of bitch clever and chuckling to herself. "I would prefer her to live... See what it is that I plan to do to the body of her Fallen God..." She laughed as she started to pace.

"I want Kaelis to go with you... You never know when a mage will come in handy," she suggested but it was painfully clear that there was more to it than that. It wasn't that she didn't trust Dorin, not that she did, but he had been terribly injured by this little stray and she was going to see that her favorite toy remained in tact.

And if he was fucking her.... he would pay...

"Go," she said with a dismissive wave before calling for some little peons to go fetch her brother's body.

Ferren surveyed his men, Kallisto, the elf and the Korinthian. The woman, Lucifine, looked near drained, despite her eagerness to be off to Deshtal. Everyone else seemed like they needed some rest as well.

The young god whistled and the windy hawk soared down from the sky. It landed on his shoulder and faded away into wisps of wind.

“Alright,” Ferren smiled. “We’ll stop here and rest.”

He nodded to Adirah and she started directing people to set up camp. They would have to double up in the tents. She could sleep with the changeling, and judging by the way the Korinthian stole glances at Maddox, she didn’t think the woman would mind sharing with the elf.

“Come” Ferren said, as he bent to start a fire. “I’m sure Kallisto would enjoy your company this evening, I gather you have much to talk about.”

It was very difficult for Dorin not to breath a sigh of relief. He played a most dangerous game now, with Sardonica. It seemed that his little offer of self-sacrifice had quelled her for the moment.

“Thank-you, Lady.” Dorin said. “You are most gracious.”

The assassin left her chambers, and he swore under his breath. He hated mages, and more, Kaelis. He was certain that Sardonica was sending the mage along to watch him.

I cannot give Kallisto to the Lady—I own the would-be priestess; she’s mine!

Dorin saw Kaelis standing in the main hall of the temple. He’d already been summoned, and the sight of the mage made him scowl. He turned over possibilities in his mind about how he might rid himself of this troublesome burden he found himself saddled with.

You, Kaelis, are only going to get in the way…

Again, the seeds of conflict bloomed a little more inside him. He wanted the changeling, without question, and the more he thought about it, the more he thought he might have to defy his goddess…

Kallisto was more than happy that they were all back together. "How did you both survive?" She asked. Had they run or fought? She doubted that it was the latter of the two options. She smiled as Maddox tried to sum it all up.

He explained the issue with the Night Mother and Maximus before talking about searching for the cabin.

"So finally we got a good night's rest," he explained. "We left early this morning to get to Deshtal... We figured that would be the best chance to keep you alive..." He said hoping she wouldn't get mad. And of course she wasn't. "What's your story Ferren?" Maddox asked.

Kaelis smiled as this assassin scowled at him. He was not here to win any popularity contests and was glad to follow this little traitor to find out exactly what was going on. There was a little idea planted into the back of his mind... That girl was beautiful and he too had wanted to tie her down and rape her long and hard but it had not been the right time...

The Goddess had already promised him his chance with the young ethereal changeling.

"You need a night's rest... We can set out in the morning..." He said before walking away.

He hated that Korinthian man.... He couldn't wait to execute him himself.

"My story?" Ferren asked as he idly poked at the logs before he settled back.

There was something strange about this elf. He couldn't quite put his finger on what. It was a rare thing, something he'd only sensed once a long time ago.

"It's a fairly simple one." the young god smiled. "I have priests dispersed, helping the people fend off Sardonica's followers. Myself, I've been looking to ally with the Night Mother, though she appears to be... sleeping at the moment. I think I may have found a High Priestess in your Kallisto, here..."

"There's really not so much to tell. I've spent much of my time trying to help fight off Sardonica. I've also spent much time amongst people, and I'm finding that once the goddess is destroyed, that I'd like to stay here..."

Ferren looked over at Lucifine who sat near the elf, but maybe not as close as she'd like.

"I'm glad that Sardonica could not silence the Night Mother. So many gods have fallen to her"

Dorin watched Kaelis go. He itched to bury Scourge in his back.

Not here--not yet. Patience...

He left the main temple for the cloisters where the former clergy of the Night Mother had lived. Dorin chose an empty room, and made sure the door was bolted tight. Out the window, the moon was void. No light touched him in the darkness of the room and he remembered how cold and dark it had been in the cave. He remembered how warm Kallisto had been, pressed against him, how she'd cried out for him when he'd taken her.

Patience... he reminded himself. I must deal with the mage first.

Dorin's eyes slipped shut at the sweet sound of Kallisto's voice in his ears. He knew that if he killed Kaelis, there was no turning back. He wouldn't bring Kallisto before Sardonica, and he'd be damned if he'd let the mage do it either.

Maddox had to admit that he would have preffered that Lucifine move closer to him but knew that it was best not to press such minor issues in front of a God. He listened and had to admit that he was not surprised that Ferren wanted Kallisto as his High Priestess. She was a beautiful young girl and seemed to create a good flow... Her leadership abilities were a definite plus as well.

He could tell that this God was trying to figure out what he was but maddox was still not ready to share his story from so long ago with the others.

As Kallisto slept she found herself taken somewhere.... It was back to that scene at the cave... She looked at what was happening and was surprised to see Dorin reliving it too.... He seemed to be in much deeper thought than she was.

"Dorin..." She said looking at him.

Lucifine watched Kallisto leave the fire for bed. She yawned, and thought that she should get some rest as well. It was strange that there was another god amongst them. Strange yet oddly comforting. He wasn’t like Maximus, and yet he wasn’t foreign to her like a god who was so far removed from his people. If she would’ve seen him elsewhere, she would’ve thought him just a man.

“Good evening, Ferren,” the Korinthian said as she got up. “Thank-you for keeping Kallisto safe.”

The young god nodded.

“Sleep well, Lucifine.”

Lucifine started to her tent, the one Adirah had set aside for her, but stopped. She looked back at Maddox. Her mouth opened slightly to ask something of him, but instead, she only smiled and softly kissed him on the cheek.

She gave a polite nod to Ferren who only smiled at her brief show of affection towards the elf. The Korinthian left both men at the fire and made herself comfortable in the small tent.

“Of course.” He said as he got up and sauntered over towards Kallisto.

He reached out for her and his slender fingers grazed her jaw. The feel of her soft skin was just as real to him now as it was then. It was almost…gentle.

“You have Wrack—we’re…connected. What do you want of me, woman?”

A wicked smile rose to Dorin’s lips.

“Have you missed me, sweet?”

The assassin’s heated gaze still served to remind Kallisto who she belonged to.

Maddox smiled at the kiss to his cheek and promised himself that he would return the favor tonight. He waited until she was gone before standing up. "Let's say we go for a walk..." He said hoping that not everything needed to be revealed right away.

At least to the two women... just yet.

Kallisto found his touching her face like that wonderful. It actually made her eyes fall shut and she was just a little surprised at the fact that he could be so gentle with her. Her eyes opened as he spoke again. So, that was why it felt like he had been so close.

"I see now..." She said touching the blade at her side. "Are you alright? Did I hurt you?" She asked moving in and trying to make sure that she didn't harm him further.

"...Yes," she said. "It is hard for me to admit that I missed the very man that killed the God I would serve..." She said reaching up and touching his face. "I missed you, your touch, and your smell..."

Ferren nodded as he stood. The sense of something about Maddox was stronger as he walked with the elf. He’d felt it before, but he didn’t exactly understand what it was.

He has a strange aura about him…

The young god observed Maddox for a moment as snow started to fall in gentle wisps. He wait there and wondered what the elf wanted...

Dorin smiled slightly.

“You wounded me quite well, Kallisto—a little too well.” He smiled slightly. “As for your godling, he was not worthy of you. He wasn’t what you wanted, what you craved… He wouldn’t have satisfied you.”

He felt Kallisto’s soft hand on his cheek. Her admission sent a thrill through him, and he pulled the changeling to his chest. He smelled the cold, almost sweet scent of snow and campfire mixed with the undeniable desire that she had for him.

Dorin teased the soft, sensitive side of her neck with the tip of his nose before he settled his warm lips against her soft, wolfish ear.

“The Lady wants you.” He whispered darkly in Kallisto’s ear. “She’s sending me to take you alive for her own amusement…”

The assassin wound his hands into her hair, roughly, passionately.

“And she’s sending the traitor mage, Kaelis with me as well.”

Dorin paused a moment. He shook with a barely restrained, almost violent desire to take Kallisto. He didn’t understand what this changeling did to him, but it was powerful, more powerful than Sardonica’s hold on him.

“I told you that you were mine, Kallisto.” He whispered darkly as he worked his hands under heavy clothes to caress her soft curves. “I’ll give you up to no man or god. If I kill the mage, there’s no going back, and I intend to kill for you, my sweet, to keep you.”

Dorin kissed Kallisto hard, relentlessly, as though he couldn’t get enough of her. There was something inexplicable that this woman gave him that not even Sardonica could.

“After I’m done with Kaelis,” he murmured against her lips. “I’ll be your shadow, sweet—I’ll never let you go again.”

Kallisto was both frightened and... excited by the thought of Dorin being so close to her. She nodded as his hands worked under the clothes she had been given. "I admitted that I was yours... I still am yours..." She promised as goose bumps formed on the skin that he touched, he would always make her shiver.

She hugged the man even closer as he dominated her with that kiss. She felt herself go breathless almost and as they broke apart she felt her body going weak against his.

"I look forward to that day Dorin... More than even you know..." She whispered. And at the same time she was dreading it.

Ferren had a serious look on his face as he listened to Maddox and then he suddenly laughed. It was spiteful or malicious at all.

“That would explain it.” He grinned. “A demi-god…”

The larger man clapped the elf on the back, good-naturedly.

“Well, little brother, I’m surprised that you haven’t drawn Sardonica’s eye, but then if you never showed your true nature…”

Ferren suddenly thought of the Korinthian woman, Lucifine and how she’d kissed the elf before she had gone off to rest. His face fell.

“I know your woman cares for you as well as Kallisto” he said. “Why hesitate to tell them? Unless you think that knowledge would put them in danger.”

That frightened, excited look in Kallisto’s eye was delectable as he roughly pulled her tunic up and off. His hands worked their way up to her soft breasts. The sound of her voice saying that she was his was enough to make him drunk with desire.

Dorin felt her shiver and gently gnashed his teeth against her the back of her neck. His kiss had drained her. She was deliciously weak in his arms, and he looked down on her like a predator who’d just caught his prey and was getting ready to savor it. She tried to break away from him, but he held her fast.

“I want to know exactly how much you’ve missed me…” he said wickedly in her ear.

"It's just... not something that I think I can explain to them..." He whispered.

She was shivering into the body that held her. She closed her eyes against the night and tried not to succumb so deeply to the effect that he had had on her. It couldn't be helped.... God, she loved the way he was sooooo so rough with her... She was sure that Ferren would be gentle if she became his head priestess. But what would Dorin do?

"I've missed you unlike anything else... I never knew that I could feel so alone... so lost..." She whispered as she tried to keep from slipping to the floor... if there was a floor... This was a dream world she didn't really understand... how was all of this really happening.

"Dorin..." She breathed reaching up to hook her arms about his neck. "I could never miss anyone as much as I have missed you," she said looking into his eyes.

Maddox grimaced slightly as he thought about the two women in his life, it was true... Both cared greatly for him but it was because he cared so much for them that he didn't want to tell them... he had to protect them from all that he was. He knew that he wasn't completely stable.

"It's just... not something that I think I can explain to them..." He whispered.

Ferren frowned as he looked at the elf. He saw a man who, despite his good nature, wouldn’t allow himself to get too close to anyone. Kallisto and Lucifine were, perhaps, the only ones to have scratched the surface of this man, but even now, the elf’s secret still put distance between he and the two women.

“It’s your choice.” Ferren said.

He was thoughtful for a moment. Snow gently drifted around the two men as they stood in the dim glow of the half moon in the sky.

“Lucifine had mentioned that she was going to see your mother in Deshtal. She might figure it out on her own. If you told her, it might lessen the shock, but then it might not matter. She looks strong, like she can handle herself.”

“Kallisto is strong too—I think she could handle the truth as well. Both woman would stand by you, I think, regardless of what you are or how dangerous it was. Especially the Korinthian. Judging by the way she kissed you, she’s already lost someone very close to her, and she’s not willing to have it happen again.”

“At any rate, it’s still you choice, Maddox.” Ferren said. “It’s your secret to keep, but don’t let it push you away from the ones you love and care for.”

The young god looked back at the tents pitched around the glow of the campfire. One of his men sat watch while the others slept.

“You should get some rest, my friend.” He said. “I’m sure Lucifine is waiting for you…”

Dorin smiled as he held her to him to keep her from slipping out of his arms. He knew the woman in her longed to resist him—he could feel it. But the wolf? The wolf in her wanted. It needed a strong hand, an alpha… He felt her arms come around her neck as the cave that they’d stayed in, swam and changed. He recognized it—he was on the bed that he’d drifted off in. He was in the cloister room.

In his arms was a shadowy, ethereal figure of Kallisto, topless and pressed against his side.

Am I awake, or do I still dream? he thought.

He smiled wickedly as he turned her onto her back. She felt real and solid as he pried her knees apart with one of his. His lovely Kallisto was somehow here with him but not. His desire for her and the link between Wrack and Scourge had allowed him to somehow bring her partially to him.

Dorin grasped her wrists with one of his hands and forced her arms over her head. He kissed her with a sort of tender violence as he settled between Kallisto’s legs. Her tiny little gasps only drove him further.

“As long as you have Wrack, you’re not without me” he said. “We’ll be together very soon, I promise you…”

The assassin desired Kallisto. He wanted her right now, but then something pounded at his door. He cursed and took Kallisto’s ethereal face in her hands.

“Wake up!” he hissed. “Now!”

Kallisto’s ethereal, dream-like figure began to dissolve in his hands…

"I know you are right but how do you explain to the woman that you lo-... care for deeply and your best friend of many years that you are really a demi-god?" He asked. Honestly he didn't expect it to be answered, especially right there on the spot.

"I think that I must speak with Lucifine first..." He said before heading toward the tent they were to share. He looked down at the woman getting ready for bed and sighed. This was going to be difficult but he could handle it... he knew that he could.

"Lucifine... I am not exactly that which I have told you," he said sounding slightly troubled.

Kallisto was not sure what to think of what was going on because she was so torn. She wanted to be taken by this beast of a man, she wanted to be ruled by him, and she wanted to be his... only his. She felt strange all of a sudden and there were no longer in the cave... She did not know where it was but it was a fairly interesting place.

But before she could get started on memorizing things she had seen there... He was taking her. Not that she wasn't secretly loving his harshness, his rough hands, or his deep growls. She was taken rather quickly and had to moan in pain/pleasure. He knew what he was doing.

But then she was being told to wake... She woke up half a minute later to see herself back in the tent. She groaned as if she was very tired and had been dropped from a very high place.

"I hope he's alright..." She said softly.

Ferren didn't answer Maddox. He didn't know the words to say to the elf that could explain to Lucifine what he was. All he could do was nod at Maddox's resolution to the Korinthian woman about his heritage.

He loves her. the young god thought. Any fool can see that. The way he'd held Lucifine on that icy horse of hers, was a familiar way, a lover's way, as though they were meant to be together.

Ferren watched Maddox disappear into the tent he would share with the Korinthian woman. He wondered if he might find love in another one day. Unbidden, he thought of Kallisto and smiled.

Lucifine looked up at Maddox as he entered the small tent. She took her gloves off and he sat next to her. He had such a serious look on his face that was out of place on him and his voice sounded so troubled.

The Korinthian smiled slightly at Maddox's admission that he wasn't quite who he said he was. She wasn't exactly sure what he was talking about. Was he refering to his...reputation?

"If this about the dress at the cabin," Lucifine said softly. "I already know it was another woman's. And I know you don't have a sister--you always spoke of yourself as an only child...."

She brought her arms around Maddox and leaned in close to his slender, elven ear.

"I don't care about past women; I don't care about future ones. I just want to be with you for whatever time we've been granted..."

Lucifine's lips trembled softly against his ear and she'd forgotten that she had taken off her gloves. She felt the warmth of Maddox's neck as she went to caress it and she suddenly jerked them away. Where there should've been blackening frostbite on his neck there was... nothing. Not a hint of her touch, except for slightly chilled flesh.

Lucifine looked at Maddox's neck and then at him.

"Maddox... How... how is that possible?" she whispered.

Dorin cursed at the pounding on his door, annoyed that he hadn't had more time to slowly torture his sweet Kallisto the way he'd wanted to. He grabbed Scourge, slid the little window of his cloister door open, and saw Kaelis there.
The assassin cautiously opened the door a little and then more fully.

"What do you want, mage?"

Kaelis only gave Dorin a self-assured, smug smile.

"It's time we went, Dorin." he said. "We won't want to be late for an appointment with that delectable young changeling, now would we?"

Dorin suddenly grabbed the mage and threw him against the stone wall of the cloister. Kaelis only gave him a bloody grin.

Not yet... Dorin reminded himself.

He eased off of Scourge's grip and he and Kaelis started to fade as they mist-walked back towards E'sari.

He stared at her as she went just about as far away from where he had been meaning to go as possible. He stared at her for a moment and smiled as he was held closer... Yeah... her hands were pretty cold but otherwise he was fine.

"Lucifine... I'm... I'm a demi-god..." He managed softly. How could that be explained. " My motehr... is a goddess my father a human..." He chuckled. "I love you..." He admitted.

Her cool hands reached up to caress his face. Certain things made sense to her now: why he had to leave his home, and his reluctance where she was concerned... Maybe even his reputation as a lady's man, if he felt he couldn't get too close to anyone.

"You are whom you are." Lucifine said as she kissed Maddox softly. "and I will stand by you, if you'll have me..."

She paused for a moment, and a blush started across her pale cheeks.

"I... love you too."

Ferren heard Kallisto's voice call out to him from inside the tent. He peered in and saw Adirah sleeping soundly next to the changeling.

The young god smiled slightly. The young woman really was beautiful and for a moment, he wished that he was sharing the tent with her instead of Adirah.

"Thanks for what?" he asked.

He pulled her in for a deep kiss now and smiled as his eyes shut... he got around... but now one ever made him want to stay like Lucifine did...

Rest of his life? Lucifine thought dimly, Does he mean to...

The word marriage slipped into her errant thoughts and slipped out just as fast as it had come....

Lucifine reached up to the tie that held his dark hair back and it tumbled down just past his shoulders. It was suffused with the scent of campfire and pine, and she returned the elf's kiss deeply, passionately. Ferren was about to say You're welcome when the changeling suddenly kissed him. He stared at Kallisto for a moment, seemingly dumbfounded as a blush tinged his cheeks.

"Kallisto" he murmured.

The young god's hand trembled slightly as he reached out to caress her cheek. He gently pulled Kallisto's face up to his and kissed her back slowly, softly.

This is your priestess!

Ferren broke the kiss almost abruptly.

"I'm sorry, Kallisto." Ferren said. "I shouldn't have..."

He gently stroked her pretty, wolven ears, mindful of all the piercings. She would make a fine consort, but it was too soon. She'd just lost her own god...

Ferren smiled sadly as he caressed Kallisto's hair once more, and turned to go.

He knew that maybe this wasn't the best time but they both needed it... He pulled her closer letting his hand move until it cradled one of her beautiful breasts. He smiled slightly as he gave it a tiny squeeze.

"Lucifine..." He said meeting her eyes. "I... I'll wait if you need to..."

Lucifine felt the warmth of Maddox's hand caress her as they lay together in the darkness of the small tent. Outside, the dim fire light cast shadows of the forest against the canvas. The last and only time a man had touched her like this, was when a male courtesan was sent to her as a gift the night before she was to join the King's Guard.

The courtesan had done many pleasurable things that night, but to feel the touch of this elf, the one that she loved, was enough to make the handsome man that she'd known some years ago, a distant memory.

Lucifine reached up to caress Maddox's face. His beautiful amber eyes were sincere when he said he'd wait, even though they lay together, skin pressed against skin, entwined against the cold. There seemed to be a little tremor in his voice when Maddox spoke, as though he were unsure of whether this was the right place or time...

"It's alright..." Lucifine whispered, her lips moving softly against his cheek. "We can wait until Deshtal, until we're in a better place...."

Lucifine held Maddox tighter, and cuddled into him. She felt how tired he was, and she was too. She felt gentle kisses on her and they both drifted off to sleep in each other's arms.

"You can stay with me." he said softly, as he led her to his tent.

It was larger than the rest. Large enough to sleep three. Ferren led her inside and there was a large, warm pile of furs waiting for them. He undid his armor, set it aside and pulled back the furs. Ferren lay on his side and looked up to Kallisto as he held them open.

"Come." Ferren said. "You'll catch cold..."

It was strange, at first, to Ferren to have Kallisto's back pressed against his chest as she settled in, but he found it nice to have her so close. He brought the furs down around her and chastely put his arm around her waist. He didn't want to give her the impression that he might take advantage of her.

The young god relaxed as their bodies warmed under the furs. His eyes started to drift shut when he heard Kallisto's voice ask him how he became a god. He was thoughtful for a moment before he answered:

"I... can't remember not being one." he said quietly. "Even in my youth, I knew I was different, that I could do things that no one else could. I remember being brought before the Night Mother with others who were young like me. She had said that there was a storm that was coming and I didn't understand what that meant. All I knew then was that my parents and the parents of the others had been the first victims of whom we all know as Sardonica now.

"She was weak then, but ambitious... and patient. The Night Mother took no chances and sent us orphans to Ascadia. There, I grew up with other godlings but I longed to be in the mortal realm, to experience it and when I was old enough, I left. When Sardonica's power finally blossomed, I was here doing what I could to aid man against her."

She listened to his story and shifted until she was facing him. She smiled warmly and cuddled against him. It was obvious that this wasn't going to go anywhere if she wasn't his priestess. She could respect that and she didn't try to go any further. She just calmly buried her nose into his neck, sighed, and started to doze off.

"I'm sorry you had to live like that," she said after a few moments. "But it's going to get better..." She promised.

"It's alright." Ferren said softly. "That was a long time ago. Now is now, and I hope that we can help Lucifine so the Night Mother can help us..."

He felt Kallisto nuzzle at his neck and he smiled wistfully as he kissed her softly on the top of her head.

"Sleep well, Kallisto." he murmured and held her in his arms as they slept.

To awake in another's arms is a strange but not unwelcome feeling... Kallisto opened her eyes to see that she was still dozing in the God's arms. It was still dark outside but there was something going on that was for sure. She didn't dare move, her eyes stared at the tent flap as if waiting for someone to find them. She knew that smell...

"Kaelis..." She whispered as she moved from the God's arms.
