The loss of life is unimaginable. Not only were the Tower workers attacked, but many rescue workers were killed when the first Tower collapsed. CNN isn't sure NYC has the resources to cope.

Yopu porbably won't believe this, but Giuliani insisted on spending at least $100 million on an emergency hq in the WTC AFTER the first bombing. So all of our emergency experts, etc. have been killed, too.

PS - whoever trolled that crack about Bush should leap off a tall building, if they can access one. Someone could argue that our obvious sympathies for Israel contributed to this attack, but we've always been functionally sympathetic to Israel. It may be that Americans will have to take a harder line against the West Bank and Gaza settlements now.

The most horrifying aspect of this is knowing it can happen again next week, next month, next year. It has illustrated how vulnerable we are to such an attack. This is just the beginning, people. Unless we can target the terrorists and obliterate them, we can expect more and more and more.

Someone could argue that our obvious sympathies for Israel contributed to this attack, but we've always been functionally sympathetic to Israel. It may be that Americans will have to take a harder line against the West Bank and Gaza settlements now.

It is way too early to talk about middle east policy ramifications until we know what this was about and especially who did it. Anything else is speculation. I think it is more responsible right now to just report the info as it comes in. Otherwise those who specualte can have more egg on their face than the people who claimed the KC bombing was was Islamic terrorists.

Let's just stick to the facts.
