World Trade Center-Plane Crash

I remember all too clearly how I felt that day.. <shudders>

I slept through most of it, I got a call from my SO's son telling me that a plane had hit the WTC and it was all over the news (he was staying with his mum in Scotland and was lonely) - he then said that a second one had hit and they thought it was terrorists. I had a headache and just wanted him off the phone so wasn't paying any attention.

Later that night my SO got home and came straight to find me, he was concerned incase I had been upset by all the reports knowing I had friends in NY.

It was him that explained what had happened, and took my hand and lead me downstairs where we sat glued to the TV for 3 days praying that they would find someone, anyone alive in the wreckage. I couldn't stop shaking as I watched the same footage again and again of the planes hitting...

I called SweetCherry and a few of my american friends just to see how they were holding up that night, and you could hear the shocked numbness in all our voices.

Vinny, my heart goes out to you and all the people that lost loved ones and friends on that tragic day!

As has been said before on here, let us never forget those, any of them, dead or living, that were touched that day!

:rose:

Hold on to what you have

Because you never know what fool might try to take it away through their stupid acts and ignorance

That day still brings tears to my eyes.

I remember waking up to see all the chaos on TV, and the only thought going through my mind was seeing if a special friend of mine was safe. Once I found out that she hadn't gone into the city it was like a heavy weight was lifted off of my shoulders. Then my thoughts turned to all those trapped. I said a prayer for those poor souls on that day and I also thanked God for watching out for my friend.

I have never felt so helpless in my life as on that day. I know she was scared and I wanted to hold her so close and tell her that she would be fine, yet all I could do was talk on the phone or computer. Now, not a day goes by, that I don't think of her and worry about her safety. I make sure that I let her know everyday how special she is to me.

Terrorism! TERRORISM! T-E-R-R-O-R-I-S-M!!!1 Aaaaaauuuuughgggghhhh!!!! Let teh eagle soar!

Reading back through this thread, it still seems so surreal.

Who would've thought it could happen here, to us? I didn't.

How can killing so many innocent people be justified in anyway, in anyones mind?

Disbelief, horror, numbness, compassion, fear and helplessness. They didn't seem to belong there on that bright cloudless morning. It was all so wrong.

And to think, for some people this is their world. Daily street bombings. Rifles peeking from gutted out windows.

I have great respect for those that fight for their country and people, or leave their homes to fight for others.

These men and women will always be remembered as great heroes in my mind. God bless them all.

It is so strange. as i read thru this you could almost hear the panic and fear in the posters. It is quite chilling.

Exactly. All I have to do is pull up this thread and read to remember the fear and the panic. This board was a God-send that day, allowing contact with others hearing and seeing the same thing on TV.

I think maybe 9/11 and Memorial Day each year will become anniversaries for this thread. We should never forget.

Beam

The last standing beam will be taken down today. It will end the recovery. What a shame to those families of unfound loved ones

i have saved this thread as an act of repect and memories for those who lost their lives that day

it was interesting to read this thread....see how it all unfolded on September 11th.....here at Literotica.....board members' reactions.....it's moving.....

<lil bump>

I remember that this thread was the best source of information as to what were happening, since all the amercian news sites went down due to all the hits they got.

I think it was just fine to bring it back up, it was something that touched us all.......................

It really makes you stop and think.............commemoration and NOT celebration or anything............

As much bickering and infighting goes on in these boards - and everywhere in the world - what got to me, reading this thread was that the reactions of the people on here as they watched it unfold, were EXACTLY the reactions of my coworkers and I, and everyone else around the world as time stopped that day, and we all stood in horror. No matter what else, for that one day - and at times since - we were different nationalities, political views, religions and beliefs joined as one in tragedy.

I recall it like yesterday as many still do.........we couldn't fight we just sat at our computers with our mouths droped.........

Someone had to fucking bring it back up
Why don't you shut the fuck up? If people want to bring it up, let them do it. And if you don't want to read it, don't click on the link. We have enough negativity on the board as it is.

Couldn't have said it better myself...........................

I'd have to agree with ShyGuy...thank you whoever brought this thread up.

God Bless America, in fact....I am proud of all our nations that pull together in crisis...

(btw...you have the freedom to click or not click threads...so make use of that freedom. :p)

I think it's really interesting to look through this thread and just see how inaccurate the information is that we get from breaking news developments. False Carbombings, Snipers, #number of planes hijacked... What's really interesting is that the numbers always go down... The "10,000 dead and will only rise" went down to Less than half of that. All of those carbombs turned out not to be true.

Says a lot about the media, I think.

At the time, the media outlets kept repeating that everything they were reporting was speculation. Everyone was in a sheer panic, and no one knew what was going on. The media was not going to just shut down until they firmed up the facts - people were demanding any news at that point.

And Chef, that comment was just...*shakes head*

yes, I know, at the time it was impossible to do fact checking or things like that. But you would think that since they show such horror in the death count being at 10K plus, that they'd show some relief when it dipped below 3K. Instead it was a blurb before commercials.

I saw plenty of relief as the count went down. New reporters are actual people, you know.
