World Trade Center-Plane Crash

There were Nazi and Communist sympathizers in the US, Madison Square Garden, no less, touting the efficacy of Fascism and Socialism/Communism, and we were supposed to forgive the Germans, the Japanese, the Italians and the Russians because they were just innocent pawns in an evil empire?

Give me a fucking break, you morons. Islam is as evil, or more so, than any inhumane ideology preceding it.

In Lit art class everyone uses the broadest brush possible. No fucking wonder any actual conversation is next to impossible here. I imagine after posts like this you fuckers sit back and congratulate yourselves on how clever you are.

My good God Almighty, the pathos of the Bleeding Hearts is neverending.

<snip>

You're absolutely right, Amicus.

"They are an evil lot! They are decadent and mistrustful! They are followers of the wrong religion! They are brutal and savage! They don't believe in our way of life, and must be destroyed in the name of our God!!!"

:confused: ...gee, this sounds familiar; where have I heard this before?

Oh, yeah! From this guy...

I'm going to say this as politely as I can: no matter where you're from, no matter what part of the world you live in, no matter what religion you follow (or don't), and no matter what kind of beef you have with something and/or someone just because they're different than you...

...old farts around the world like you can't die fast enough, in my opinion.

Instead of the weasly 'broadest brush', replace that with concepts and abstractions, ya know, higher thought than anecdotal, empirical tidbits that signify sound and fury and little else.

Or is real thinking beyond you?

And what the fuck is, "Lit art class?"

nevermind...

Read some Old Testament. Check out what the Israelites did to their enemies. Down to the last child in some cases.

I'm amazed someone could be so stupid and still manage to type words.

I've posted in other threads on this subject, and I will post the same thing I've said before (edited)...

Today marks a tragedy in American history. 3000 lives were lost because of the hateful, fanatical ravings of a group of individuals who's sole purpose is to create chaos and cause death and destruction in order to further their own agenda(s). The attack upon the World Trade Center buildings, as well as the Pentagon and the failed attempt with the Capitol building/White House was evil and tragic. Innocent lives were lost because of hate and intolerance, propagated by the radical and insane minds of cowards who brainwash others into doing their bidding and calling it 'God's will'.

I mourn with the families of those who were lost and give them a respectful 'moment of silence'... but I will not mark this day with tears and bitter resentment. Those who attacked the United States deserve whatever punishment they will inevitably receive, from humankind or God (if any), and I share in the anger that is felt by all who were affected by this atrocity.

But there are those who direct their hate towards people who had nothing to do with the attack and they base this hate upon unjustified accusations, be it their target's appearance, religion, and/or way of life, and stubbornly continue to do so to this very day. For some of these people, it is all they've known: hate, bigotry, and intolerance, whether it be directed at a legitimate target or not. I pity them, for some were raised this way; raised to keep the hate going whether it is justified or not... and on this day, I refuse to add to that hate.

Because for me, this day is a time of happiness. This day is a time for celebration. This day is one of the most important days of my life.

This is the day, twenty-three years ago, the woman that I love with all of my heart walked down the aisle to me, accepted the ring I offered, and said "I do".

Today is my wedding anniversary, and I will not mark it with hate... instead, I will celebrate it with love.

Perfectly said Tiberius, perfectly said.

And happy anniversary to you and your lady.

Really, you guys are gonna do this in this thread, eh?

:rolleyes:

~~~
I did apologize at the outset of my commentary, for what that is worth.
But...it has been ten years, almost to the minute, as I type this, that Islamic Terrorists took over 2700 innocent lives in the Twin Towers and the Pentagon. I have watched every televised program about 9/11 and I weep at some and curse at others.
To this day, our Nation has not identified the real root and cause of the travesty of 9/11.
It is, in essence, East versus West, modern society against medieval theology.
Western societies are diminishing and Eastern societies are on the rise: it is a conflict that is in your face whether you acknowledge it or not.
Ten years later there are augmented terrorist alerts in New York City; does that not signify something to you?
Be blind and deaf if you wish. I am not.
Amicus Veritas
This is an incredible post. Really powerful. Happy anniversary.
Thank you. Since I have to work tonight (night shift; my 'Monday'), we celebrated last night; an enjoyable evening.
I apologize to you and any others that may have been upset by what I posted. You're right; this is not the time or place to be doing this.
President Bush's Address To The Nation
September 11, 2001, 8:30 p.m. ET
"Today, our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack in a series of deliberate and deadly terrorist acts. The victims were in airplanes, or in their offices; secretaries, businessmen and women, military and federal workers; moms and dads, friends and neighbors. Thousands of lives were suddenly ended by evil, despicable acts of terror.
"The pictures of airplanes flying into buildings, fires burning, huge structures collapsing, have filled us with disbelief, terrible sadness, and a quiet, unyielding anger. These acts of mass murder were intended to frighten our nation into chaos and retreat. But they have failed; our country is strong.
"A great people has been moved to defend a great nation. Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shattered steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve.
"America was targeted for attack because we're the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining.
"Today, our nation saw evil, the very worst of human nature. And we responded with the best of America — with the daring of our rescue workers, with the caring for strangers and neighbors who came to give blood and help in any way they could.
"Immediately following the first attack, I implemented our government's emergency response plans. Our military is powerful, and it's prepared. Our emergency teams are working in New York City and Washington, D.C. to help with local rescue efforts.
"Our first priority is to get help to those who have been injured, and to take every precaution to protect our citizens at home and around the world from further attacks.
"The functions of our government continue without interruption. Federal agencies in Washington which had to be evacuated today are reopening for essential personnel tonight, and will be open for business tomorrow. Our financial institutions remain strong, and the American economy will be open for business, as well.
"The search is underway for those who are behind these evil acts. I've directed the full resources of our intelligence and law enforcement communities to find those responsible and to bring them to justice. We will make no distinction between the terrorists who committed these acts and those who harbor them.
"I appreciate so very much the members of Congress who have joined me in strongly condemning these attacks. And on behalf of the American people, I thank the many world leaders who have called to offer their condolences and assistance.
"America and our friends and allies join with all those who want peace and security in the world, and we stand together to win the war against terrorism. Tonight, I ask for your prayers for all those who grieve, for the children whose worlds have been shattered, for all whose sense of safety and security has been threatened. And I pray they will be comforted by a power greater than any of us, spoken through the ages in Psalm 23: 'Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me.'
"This is a day when all Americans from every walk of life unite in our resolve for justice and peace. America has stood down enemies before, and we will do so this time. None of us will ever forget this day. Yet, we go forward to defend freedom and all that is good and just in our world.
"Thank you. Good night, and God bless America."
"...and I will be hiding in Air Force One if anybody needs some leadership or something..."
You didn't think I'd forget, did you?
A bit late, but still in time for the annual "bump."
We will never forget. :rose:
I liked the thread from the morning the space shuttle burned up better.
You've done all of this, completed your mission, and now you're going to die because a tile came loose.
The shuttle burned up late on a Sunday morning, so there were more GBers online than the early Tuesday morning the WTC towers were hit.
You'd think natural disasters, mishaps and terrorist attacks would go over best when the most people are online and/or watching TV...I'm thinking 10pm Eastern time on a Thursday nite would be the sweet spot.
GBers are hardy folk.
Are you saying they can't take disasters on the chin?
Lance, obviously NASA cut the feeds.
What... did you fucking expect they would do?
Broadcasting that??
I'm fine. I don't want to hear that.
