World Trade Center-Plane Crash

Bit of a letdown.

The media circus around a capture, detention and trial would have been spectacular.

10 years, seems like yesterday

I am a day early, but I've been watching some of the TV specials about 9/11.
The stories from 9/11 still can make me cry, 10 years later. I suspect they always will.

i've been watching them too.
watched them with the teen.

it's an event which demonstrates the very best and the very worst sides of humanity. the fireman looking up, saying they were going to die in there, then going in anyway. the plastic surgeon who went from boob jobs to saving lives in an instant.

i think maybe it was the day america lost it's innocence. the reality that you were both loathed and vulnerable was undeniable.

The 'face' of a fucking moron.

And yes we are still here.

Wow, isn't that great?

Honestly, firefighters go through training that the military, the police, would totally fail at. That's why they're not firefighters, and that's why they respect them.

Some of the clips on the net make me cry. The ones that have a personal point of view. The recorded 911 call involving Kevin Cosgrove is terribly emotional. It's too bad such a personal recording was spread all over the internet. I believe it was made public on purpose during a trial, to demonstrate the human suffering the attacks caused. I still don't think it was right to release the tape, but reality can be a powerful master.

i should not have watched that.

Should you feel this is inappropriate considering the tone of the latest additions to the Thread, then I apologize; but they are my thoughts.

The Theology of Islam is on the rise, despite the wars being conducted and the assassination of Bin Laden. Terrorist activities continue world wide, and the threat, even on this tenth Anniversary of the Barbarism of 9/11, headlines the News.

I offer that it should be attributed an equal threat to that of the Fascism of Nazi Germany and the Communism of the old Soviet Union and modern Communist China and Vietnam.

The free world is not winning this undeclared War because we have not yet had the courage to name and identify the Enemy.

Islam.

I've posted in other threads on this subject, and I will post the same thing I've said before (edited)...

Today marks a tragedy in American history. 3000 lives were lost because of the hateful, fanatical ravings of a group of individuals who's sole purpose is to create chaos and cause death and destruction in order to further their own agenda(s). The attack upon the World Trade Center buildings, as well as the Pentagon and the failed attempt with the Capitol building/White House was evil and tragic. Innocent lives were lost because of hate and intolerance, propagated by the radical and insane minds of cowards who brainwash others into doing their bidding and calling it 'God's will'.

I mourn with the families of those who were lost and give them a respectful 'moment of silence'... but I will not mark this day with tears and bitter resentment. Those who attacked the United States deserve whatever punishment they will inevitably receive, from humankind or God (if any), and I share in the anger that is felt by all who were affected by this atrocity.

But there are those who direct their hate towards people who had nothing to do with the attack and they base this hate upon unjustified accusations, be it their target's appearance, religion, and/or way of life, and stubbornly continue to do so to this very day. For some of these people, it is all they've known: hate, bigotry, and intolerance, whether it be directed at a legitimate target or not. I pity them, for some were raised this way; raised to keep the hate going whether it is justified or not... and on this day, I refuse to add to that hate.

Because for me, this day is a time of happiness. This day is a time for celebration. This day is one of the most important days of my life.

This is the day, twenty-three years ago, the woman that I love with all of my heart walked down the aisle to me, accepted the ring I offered, and said "I do".

Today is my wedding anniversary, and I will not mark it with hate... instead, I will celebrate it with love.

Errr...I've been through military and firefighter training. They're both tough, but I wouldn't say one is tougher than the other.

This is an incredible post. Really powerful. Happy anniversary.

My good God Almighty, the pathos of the Bleeding Hearts is neverending.

There were Nazi and Communist sympathizers in the US, Madison Square Garden, no less, touting the efficacy of Fascism and Socialism/Communism, and we were supposed to forgive the Germans, the Japanese, the Italians and the Russians because they were just innocent pawns in an evil empire?

Give me a fucking break, you morons. Islam is as evil, or more so, than any inhumane ideology preceding it.

Where are all the women who should be calling for an all out war on Islam as women have no rights under Sharia at all?

I suppose you will be surprised when the next World War is the Free World against the Muslims?

Egads...
