World War II: Behind Enemy Lines - (IC)

Mike Adams

Mike walked past several soldiers who saluted him as he passed, which he returned. Mike didn't like the role of leader. People said he was a natural band maybe he was, but he didn't like being a leader. He was responsible for what happened to them, they looked to him for direction and orders, and he felt uncomfortable with all the attention.

He enetered the tent and approached the doctor, who looked up at him, "Ahh.. hello captain. Looks like you need to have those injuries taken care of. Well, just sit down at a bed and I'll attend to you once I deal with my other patients."

Mike nodded and sat down at an empty bed.

Salima Mimoun

Salima had wondered from the first time she met the americans, but now she was sure. It was a few years ago, and just a brief thing, but with harsh consequences for her. She had recognized the man, and after she had heard him talk to that general there was no doubt. She wondered why he hadn't talked to her, or had given the slightest sign of knowing her after all. Had he forgotten her so completely? Was he angry at her for any reason? She hadn't changed in her looks, so he should have recognized her. She felt offended by the behaviour of Mike Addams. She asked one soldiers where to find him. The young soldier seemed to be puzzled by the exotic woman with the strange accent in her elegant clothes, but he was very polite and showed her the way to the tent. She hesitated a moment, feeling somehow out of place here, but she entered nevertheless.

Mike face was cleaned up and his arm, which had the sniper wound, was bandaged. Then he looked over and saw the Morrocan woman enter. He had never had a chance to introduce himself due to all the chaos and problems that had been going on, but she did look familiar. Had he met her before... wait it couldn't be...

He got up and slowly walked over to her and smiled, "You know, I thought you looked familiar but I never had a chance to speak to you with all that has been going on. You wouldn't happen to be the Salima, the woman who did the play Hamlet with me in Hollywood?"

Salima Mimoun

"You are wrong about Hamlet, but right about Salima. I wondered if I had got so old so fast that you would not recognize me anymore?" She looked up at him, even with a very little hint of a smile.

Mike chuckled at her comment, "Well it's good to see you again, but I never expected to meet you here of all places. Odd isn't it? Anyways, how have you been since I last saw you?"

Salima Mimoun

"Oh... more then I could tell. My family was unhappy about my american experiences, family ordered my back, but I got stuck in france, missed the last ship going out, then I got cut off my relatives and founds, I am running out of money, and got stuck up in the war, suddenly blazing towers instead my audience." she shrugged.
"And not knowing how it will go on now."

Mike nodded in agreement, "Things changed a lot for me as well. After I got tired of acting, I went to Hawaii and joined the military. There I became an medic. Time went by and then the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. From there... well you know. We entered the war. I was surpised when I learned that I would be in the European threater and not the Pacific."

He sighed and waved around the place, "Well, we're here now. And it was good meeting you. If you need anything you can just ask me. So I have some time before the General calls me back for the next mission, you need anything?"

Salima Mimoun

"The only thing I could take along are two suitcases with some clothes and necessary things, and a little money, that is dwindling... I have nothing else. And I do not know where to go or what to do after all." she looked around.
"The russian woman seems friendly, the others seem all suspicious about me. So what do I need? I would need a job, but who needs an actress in this place and time?"

Mike Adams

Mike smiled, "With the world in war, jobs in Europe won't be available, however the American army helps thoughs in need and we could always use translators. If I remember correctly, you could speak several different languages, right? If so then I'll ask the General. He'll accept you."

Salima Mimoun

"He didn't seem to be to happy about me, although I didn't want to upset him. But I speak french, english and arabian fluently, and some words in other languages."

Mike adam

"He was angry. He's been hrough a lot. I mean, the United States is now involved in another Great War that we had originally wanted to avoid. A plan, that took months of planning, went wrong and many soldiers were killed, and he's partially resposible. Supplies are low, as well as moral. And his bother was killed. So it's a lot for one man to take and when he offered you aid and assistance, you retorted and backtalked to him, so what does one expect. But he's a great leader and does his best. Sometimes I worry about him, wondering if h's really ok."

Salima Mimoun

"I am sure of all that. I do not meant to say anything bad of him. But I am a civilian, a woman and a foreigner. I wonder if he will trust me. But I worked for the resistance."

Salima Mimoun

"Then, you better ask him." Salima wondered if she should allow herself to flirt with this man again. The last time it didn't work out for her well. And it was war. He had his duties, and soon, she might have some as well. Wouldn't she do wrong?

Mike nodded "Don't worry. I will." He sat back down the medical bed and waited for the doctor. He glanced back at Salima and smiled, "Oh.. it was good seeing you again."

Iska

Leaving the tent, Iska immediately withdrew a packet of cigarettes from her breast pocket and slipped one into her mouth. Passing the pack over to her men, and then onto Gurber. A second later she produced her good lighter and lit her cigarette, passing it on as she had the cigarettes. Turning to watch as Salima moved away, she wondered what the woman had to talk with the Captain about. For now, Iska was happy to take a moment away from American company.

Walking away from the front of the Generals tent, she found several crates that looked comfortable enough to sit on. And only then did she speak up.

"If I ever get that up tight, feel free to slap me."

Breathing out a large cloud of smoke she smiled at Gurber.

"So, Raphael. These caches, can you find them? One item I lack to carry out my mission well is weapons."

Salima Mimoun

Salima felt that the conversation was over, and got up, but this time she smiled before she went out.
"It is good that someone is happy to see me again."
She went out of the tent, and wondered in what she had gotten herself. But it was rather fate that got her into everything, so she just had to follow what future provided for her. She looked around to find Iska. She wanted to find out why the russian had supported her in a way - so far yet.

Raphael Gurber

(OOC: You can thank Dormant Evil that I like her enough to continue here)

He declined the cigarette and stood there amidst the other Russians, he looked at the female when she spoke and nodded his head.

"Yes I can find the caches, it seems like these Americans are really ignorant if they can not find any use for better weapons. Nor if they understand the threat they face if the Nuclear Tests are not halted."

Raphael shook his head,

"But let us not dwell on that, maybe some day the General will wake up and remember what I said. Tell me baryshnya, if you are here, could you not perhaps get more of your comrades? With German weapons I am very sure that with your Russian will and courage there will be no match among the Gestapo pigs nor the Wehrmacht...apart from the SS of course. I am not saying that because I am SS, I say it as I know how they are, the only ones more feared is the parachute regiment. They of course are all devils in their own right, crazy if you ask me."

He knew he was talking too much, but then again, he had nothing to hide from this woman, she wanted what he wanted.

Salima Mimoun

Salima found Iska, she was talking to that german again. Salima did not say a word, but leant on a wall not far from her russian friend. She was just listening.

Iska

Kicking over a crate, she sat down and leaned forward on her knees. Taking a casual and restful position, and scanned the area. With the back of her smoking hand, she wiped her forehead, cleaning off a few beads of sweat. She wasn't necessarily nervous, but she also hated the heat. Give her snow any day, she loved it.

"I suspect he heard it all, and when the time comes he'll get in contact. But for now he's trying to clean up this mess, by far not the best invasion drop in wars history. But they got enough men on the ground to do some damage, so it wasn't for nothing I suppose."

Smiling at the German, she joked briefly.

"And if they won't be quick to take details on cache positions, it gives me the chance to get the Resistance to clear out the useful stuff first."

Raphael Gurber

A brief smile touched his lips,

"All of them is useful, but if you ask very nicely I might get you some of the prototype weapons, of course that would alter history so to speak."

For a change he was glad that they had stripped him of his uniform, for some strange reason it seemed like today would be a warm day, but not uncomfortably so. He looked over at the Moroccan woman, it was clear that she did not trust him, but then again, very few people would trust a SS Officer, he gave her a friendly smile and then focused on the Russian woman.

"I must say that your test was an interesting one, I didn't even think of using the pistol until you mentioned it. Luckily for that or I could have ended up dead and totally worthless."

Mike Adams

As the doctor finished doing his check-ups on Mike, to make sure nothing else was wrong, Mike sighed and thought over what had just happened. Salima, someone from his past whom he hadn't expected to ever meet again, had just talked to him. How odd that of all the places to meet, it was here and now.

Once he was dismissed by the doctor, Mike walked out of the tent and headed over to the General's tent. The General would definitely have something for Mike.

"I do what I can to keep life interesting, Gurber...actually, Raphael. You call me Iska, I'll call you Raphael. Just like I call Salima by her first name, and my men by theirs. Seems a little too formal to be calling each other by last names.

Plus I don't know you nearly well enough for that."

Chuckling, Iska butted out her cigarette on the bottom of her combat boot and kicked over another crate. Forming a table in front of herself. Then, with a quick hand she removed a deck of cards and began to shuffle them.

"Since I have no idea how long the General will keep us waiting, how about a game?"

Raphael Gurber

He chuckled at her remark and watched as she shuffled the cards, he took a seat opposite her,

"By the way you deal, you have experience, I have next to nothing, but let us play, at least it is a way to keep ourselves busy and hopefully some bullets out of my hide."

Mike walked into the General's tent to find General Conner looking at a map of Europe. Mike stood at attention, "Sir."

Conners turned to face him, "We need to talk about your next assignment." Conners put his hands on the table on which was a map of a town. "Our fellow troops, involved in the invasion of Normandy, are going to need help. To do so, we need to take the town of Cherbourg so that our tanks can get off the beaches."

Mike gave the general a confused look, "But Cherbourg is a good long distance away. How will we reach it there in time?" Conner smiled, "Well by vehicles of course. We don't have any place to launch planes off from." Mike nodded, "Ok sir, when do we head out?" Conners turned away from Mike, "Tomorrow."

Mike saluted then turned to leave but stopped, "Sir, what of our friends? The Russians, German, and civilian?"

"They'll join you, if they want to. I haven't hear from the Russian's superiors, so I have no command over them."
